This short story is an entry for the National Geographic #PlanetOrPlastic writing contest.

I chose to leave the ending with one word, this way the reader gets to choose their own interpretation of the ending.

I remember watching documentaries about how the pollution in the ocean has increased severely over the past decades, resulting in many sea animal deaths. One of these documentaries showed how sea turtles commonly mistakened plastic bags for jellyfish, the result of this often leads to their death. As well as six-pack beer rings, which result in many sea animal deaths due to choking.

Thus, my inspiration for this story.
