Chapter 9: Dodongo's Cavern - Part 2
Link's POV:
There were another few rooms I had to go through before reaching the boss door. I carefully inserted the key and took a deep breath. Navi had helped me locate a healing fairy to put in a bottle in case I got fatally wounded. She said it would instantly cure all my wounds and fatigue.
I realized there was nothing inside except for a chest. Confused, I opened the chest to find more bombs which were then placed in my bomb bag.
"Navi...there isn't any huge monster in here." I announced.
"No...not in here." Navi agreed. "However, I feel a strong presence below us."
"Below?" I looked at the ground and saw cracks. The stone felt strangely warm compared to the rest of the room. Perhaps there was a room under this one, perhaps that was where the boss was. I took out a bomb and placed it on the floor before running to hide behind the chest.
With a tremendous explosion, the bomb blew a hole in the floor. Sending rock crumbling down below.
I sucked in a breath and jumped.
"L...Link..." Navi warned.
I turned around and saw the largest beast that anyone had ever laid eyes upon. A gigantic, fully grown Dodongo.
The creature roared, nearly splitting my skull with the sound, and started slowly advancing towards me. Luckily, it was extremely slow.
"NAVI WHAT DO I DO!?" I screamed and ran. The room was circular and had a shallow pool of liquid magma oozing in the center. This made the room more like a ring.
"It doesn't seem to have any external weak spots." Navi chimed nervously.
"English!" I yelled back.
"External means outside. The Dodongo's whole body is covered with armor like scales." Navi informed.
I heard a rumbling sound. Glancing back showed me that the Dodongo was rolling around the ring like a Goron. I barely had time to jump out of the way, and even then it hit my ankle.
The Dodongo's eyes blazed and it opened its mouth. I expected for it to roar, but instead it started to suck in air. Then it dawned on me, that thing was trying to suck me into it.
I clawed my fingers into the ground, hoping to not get eaten alive. One of my bombs went rolling out of my equipment pocket. It flew into the Dodongo's mouth.
The Dodongo looked at me curiously. Then I heard a bang and the Dodongo gave a roar of pain. It started rolling at me again. This time I couldn't get out of the way in time so I was sent flying towards the lava pit. My arm got severely burned; it hurt so much I wanted to scream but I didn't have time for that. The Dodongo was opening his mouth to suck me in again.
I threw a bomb at it's mouth, which the beast sucked up. Again the bomb blew up inside the Dodongo's stomach. It didn't look to happy and started rolling after me again.
This time I was prepared and was able to successfully dodge.
The stupid beast once again tried to suck me up, to which I simply threw another bomb. I wondered how much longer this would go on.
Too long of course. I threw my last bomb into the hulking monster's trap and watched wearily as it rolled painfully into the lava pit. All my senses were filled with the putrid sight, but once it had died I was filled with new strength and a glowing light appeared to send me back outside.

Darunia was waiting for me at the entrance to the cave. "WELL DONE KID!" He bellowed, sending me staggering back. "Thanks to you, we can once again eat the delicious rocks from Dodongo's cavern until our stomachs burst!"
He pat me on the head so hard I crumpled to the ground like a rag doll. My head was pulsating and every muscle screamed for rest. I might have gotten stronger, but that was just more energy I could lose.
"What a wild adventure...it will make an incredible story. I can't believe the dodongos appeared so suddenly in such great numbers. And that big old boulder blocking our cave..." He frowned. "All this trouble must have been caused by that Gerudo thief, Ganondorf!" I remember he had said "Give me the Spiritual Stone! Only then will I open the cave for you!" You on the other hand risked your life for us..." He smiled broadly. "Kid, I like you. How's about you and I become sworn brothers!?"
"I don't really have time to..."
"No, there's no big ceremony involved. Just take this as a token of our friendship!" Darunia boomed and revealed the Spiritual Stone of Fire.
I eagerly took it and held it up for Navi to see. "We did it!" I panted.
"Brother, you keep brushing up on your skills as you travel, got it? Hey everybody! Let's see off our brother!" Darunia bellowed happily, to which two Gorons fell from the sky, uncurled themselves, and began inching towards me.
"You did great!" One cried.
"How about a big ol' Goron hug brother!?" The other one exclaimed.
A Goron hug? I don't think I would survive that. I ran back to Kakariko village screaming and collapsed against the wall of a house.
"Okay...next up we go find the Spiritual Stone of water." I announced to Navi.
"I think you should take a quick break." She chimed. "It's not super smart to just continue on after everything you just went to. It would also be logical to see if anyone can help heal your burn."
"I'm fine." I shrugged. "Come on. Maybe we should try to search at Lake Hylia first."
"That's all the way across Hyrule Field!" Navi exclaimed.
"It's not like you're the one who has to walk." I rolled my eyes and began my long walk to Lake Hylia.

My eyes began filling due to the intense pain I was feeling. I could hardly see through all the tears collecting in them.
"Link..." Navi started.
"Shut...up...Navi..." I groaned. Then I smelled something wonderful. It was so wonderful that my stomach emitted a thunder like growl.
Following my nose and my grumbling stomach, I staggered towards the heavenly scent. My feet stumbled until I fell against something hard. My thoughts started swimming and I felt an overwhelming sense of dizziness. Then the world tilted and I felt something solid crash into my back. The sky seemed much nearer than it had before, I could see starts everywhere.
"HEY!" Navi chimed. "LINK!"
I closed my eyes.
