I sit on the cold stone cell, iron chains on my wrists, my ankles, my neck, what had become of my wife and daughter?

How long have I been down here? I had lost count a long time ago, at one point the guards had stopped coming down, I've been left in darkness, the other criminals in the dungeon had rotted away and faded to dust

Sonia had stopped coming at some point, did she forget me? Did Knuckles? Cyrus? Or are they all gone? Nothing but dust, am I trapped here forever? What exactly did I do wrong? Why did the blade shatter?

I sat her thinking, I never ate, I never drank and yet I'm still alive or am I dead? Is this just some stupid dream? And I'll wake up in the sewers, 6 again?

Have I even met Mia and had a beautiful little girl named Lilith? Did I never meet Maurice or Sonia? Defeated Robotnik? Defeated Obsidian?

Am I just a thief? A mutt in the sewers? A pest? No Manic stop thinking like that, your just slowly going insane! Yeah that's it, your going insane because you've been stuck in this dungeon with no light, no food, no water, no one to talk to

Who am I kidding? I'm alone...

{Sonic's Pov}

Jet slowly came to a holt above the city, he had gotten lost a few hours before because the city had been renamed Chaos City

I looked down and I couldn't take my eyes off it, the city looked as it did over four thousand years ago, slums everywhere, I could see some of the city had been repaired, but it looked as if it had been done in my sisters rule...

" here, you can borrow my spare board " Jet said as he offered me his board, I nodded with a grateful smile

Soon we were zooming above the city and down towards the streets, when we landed everyone looked at us in awe and fear, I couldn't stop looking at the condition everything was in, buildings were falling apart and people were sick

Whoever was ruling was doing a horrible job at it, I felt a tug on my hand, I looked down and saw a small girl looking at me in wonder, I crouched down to her level

" is there something I can help you with miss?" I asked with a smile

" my mummy needs help, she's sick a-and the doctors are too expensive " tears were in her eyes now as she frowned at me

" can you show me where she is?" I asked, even though this isn't my time anymore these were still my people, she nodded and pulled me towards a house with a broken roof

The others weren't following, but I knew I'd see them at the palace soon, I heard coughing from one of the rooms, the little girl pulled me towards the sound

" mummy, someone's here to help " the little girl said as she let go of my hand and rushed over to a older looking woman, her mother, she was laying on a broken bed coughing

When she calmed she pet her daughter on the head softly

" please help her " the little girl begged, I nodded and kneeled down besides the woman and put my hands on her chest, my hands glowed a soft blue, soon colour came back to her face and she looked healthy

" thank you " the woman said with a smile

" why is everything like this " I frowned and she sighed

" I see your a tourist, you wondered far from the rich part of the city " the woman sighed

" I'm not a tourist and if I told you who I was I doubt you'd believe me " I sighed

" I've heard that before, so why are you here?" The woman asked as she sat up

" I'm headed to the palace, and this street is the quickest way there " I said and the woman seemed horrified

" what! You can't go there! The king is a selfish basted, his eldest son comes here often and tries to help, but he gets in trouble, why are you headed to the palace?" The little girl said as she hid behind her mother

" I'm looking for my brother " I said

" no one will help you look " she sighed

" I know where he is, in the dungeons " I stated

" no ones used them in four thousand years, I doubt he'd be there " the woman scoffed

" I should get going, I'm sure I can talk some sense into the king while I'm at it " I said as I stood, I left the two alone wide eyed

I kept walking down the street until I reached the gates, where Shadow, Jet, Wave and Storm were, they had guns pointed to their heads, I seriously can't leave them alone for a second

" what is your business " I guard asked me as I walked in front of my friends

" me and my companions had been summoned by the king for business " I stated calmly, the guards believed me and let us pass

" where were you and how did you do that?" Jet asked

" practice and I was helping someone " I chuckled as we were excoriated to the throne room where a red hedgehog sat, with a crown of gold on his head, a green female hedgehog next to him on her own throne also with a crown apon her head

The king stood and glared at the guards

" what is the meaning of this?!" He shouted enraged, I don't like his attitude towards others

" your a horrible king, Michael, you really bring shame apon Queen Sonia's rain " I stated, everyone stood still and stared at me

" you have no right to say that " Michael growled at me

" don't I? Because this is technically my throne, my kingdom and my crown " I glared right back, he blinked then laughed while everyone else stayed quiet

" you really think that? Well that's not possible, my line is the only one left " he snapped at me, I just smiled

" not true, I know of a pink hedgehog who is descended from Prince Manic's line and Prince, if I may correct myself lost Kind Maurice still has the right to reclaim his throne does he not " I smiled, the king just stared at me

" impossible! You have no right to talk about my family or come barging in here and tell me what to do " he growled, I rolled my eyes and calmly walked towards him, no one dared to stop me

Within a second I swiped the crown from his head

" you don't deserve the throne, your, my people are sick, dying and are treated poorly, my name is Maurice, my sister was Queen Sonia, my brother Prince Manic, my mother Queen Aleena, I came back to the castle because my brother may still be alive, your a failure of a king " I snapped at him, a cold looked in my eyes, the crown in my hand warmed in recognition and the green gem glowed

He stared at me in horror, shock and fear, I looked towards the staircase and saw a hedgehog no older than 15 blue eyes and a reddish pink fur colour

" I heard from a mother and her child that you had a kind heart Oliver, that you cared about the people more than luxury or riches, is that true?" I asked, he blinked at me and slowly walked towards me, he stood in front of me and nodded nervously

I smiled at him

" can you help me with something very important?" I asked, he nodded

" how is this possible?" Michael asked as he stepped away from me

" blood of a God runs through my veins and yours, but your heart is wicked and you only do things you want to do " I stated as I looked at him

The crown in my hands glowed brighter, it only glows in the presence of the true heir to the throne

Guards stood in front of me, I only smiled and waved my hand in dismissal, they blinked and had no idea what to do

" you think you can come in here and trick everyone into thinking your the lost king?! Your bloody insane " Michael growled at me

" fine then, if you don't believe me then ask me a question only a member of this family would know the answer too " I smirked at him, he smirked back

" what species is Sonia's line of the family?" Michael asked, I rose a brow at this, oh wait hybrids were frowned apon 2567 years ago

" hybrid of a hedgehog and echidna, Sonia married an echidna named Knuckles and had a daughter named Marla, who at 24 became queen " I smirked, everyone but a few were wide eyed

" now if you excuse me, I have to go to the dungeons, any objections?" I asked, Oliver was beside me as I began to walk away and towards the dungeons

Jet, Wave, Storm, Shadow and a few guards followed, with flashlights as we walked down the crumbling stairs

Soon we reached the rusting iron gates, I pushed them open, the crown had somehow found its way to the top of my head

No one had tried to stop me as I walked down the cold stone floors, the scent of death was faint, but still there, most of the cells had rusted away to dust, but one stood out from the rest

The iron bars looked new, moss and ferns growing along the edges I stood in front of the cell, my eyes fixed on the dark figure inside, breathing...alive

His aura felt familiar yet foreign, I slowly took a few more steps towards the door, the cell door was locked, yet it felt...alive

But as soon as I touched it, it opened up wide, I slowly and quietly walked towards the figure, moss was growing everywhere

" Manic?" I asked quietly, the figure immediately looked up at me, magenta eyes looking into my Emerald ones

He was wide eyed, tears in his eyes, along with me, I smiled as they fell, I kneeled down next to him and held his hands

" M-Maurice?" It was just above a whisper, but I heard it

" it's me " I smiled at him, the chains had come undone somehow and he had pulled me into a hug, it was tight yet lose, full of love and bond, I hugged back exactly the same

" come on, let's get you out of here " I said as I stood up and held out my hand to him when we pulled apart

I felt him grab it and I pulled him up, at the cell door stood everyone else, waiting silently

" when did you get the crown?" Manic questioned

" about 29 minutes ago " I stated with a soft chuckle

" now I need to talk to that king again " I stated

" wait, what...year is it?" Manic asked, I paused for a second

" way past our time " I sighed in answer,

" Mia...Lilith..." Manic said quietly as tears began to fall

" it's going to be ok...trust me Manic, when have I ever lied to you?" I asked but soon regretted it

" when you said you'd do anything for me and yet you ran when I asked you to get my hover board out of the lake " Manic chuckled softly

" Fak-Sonic we should get going once your done here, we don't know what Eggman's up to, or if Elroy is causing trouble or not " Shadow stated I rolled my eyes and nodded

" Wait Elroy?!" Manic shouted shocked, I have a lot of explaining...
