Without further ado, here are the winners for Romance:
1st Place:
"Evie & Adams" by HiddenTruths20
Score: 92 /100
Review: Wow! Such strong description and characterization, I'm already loving Evie and Roxie! I love the wordplay in the title and the dynamic you're creating between the girls. I'm super curious to see what happens between them, especially given the "forbidden" type circumstances they're in.
2nd Place:
"The Gangleaders Princess" by Purrr121
Score: 91/100
Review: The cover was really amazing and it made sense of the book. The blurb hooks a reader in as it is very well-worded. The title was relevant to the book and the reader will understand what the book is about instantly after reading the title. I usually don't enjoy books about gangs and such but the plot was so usual yet uniquely worded that when I began reading I just couldn't stop. Your grammar is almost perfect and the way you use words really intrigues me. All of this being said, the plot wasn't the most original one. No matter how it is worded, it is some scenes I have seen quite a few times in other books. I love the author's writing style though. The characters were all different from one another and they were still together. I enjoyed the storyline a lot though it was something I've seen in most of the gang novels I've read. But the way you represented it was good.
3rd Place(there is a tie!):
"Friendships and Other Disasters" by pour-me-some-liquor
Score: 90 /100
Review: No major critique here! The flow and pace are great, I love the characters already and get a real sense of their personalities through your writing and descriptions. You do a great job hooking us in by alluding to ridge's past and leave us curious to see what happens next!
"A Second Chance At First Love" by writer_reader2012
Score: 90/100
Review: The cover was good, but the colour scheme was a little off. I loved the blurb. If you get a reader who is a romance fanatic like me, this title is all you need to hook them in. I loved your plot. But it was something I have seen around for a while now. It was different, yet familiar. As for language use, the author made a few minor mistakes here and there. As for originality, as I said before, I have seen it around the corner for a while now. I like your writing style, though it was common. I loved the variety in your characters, none of them was the same. The mystery of what happened in the past just made me keep reading on and on. I suggest you re-read your book and fix the minor mistakes you made in grammar because that would make your book even better.
Runners-up:
4. "Mr. Berkshire" by spellsoftheunknown
Total score: 88/100
Review: I don't know what to say except it constantly reminded me of Fifty Shades of Grey. Most of the plotline was like that of Grey, but the southern belle charm and mannerisms with the little-girl-in-big-city side, mixed with your excellent writing style made it a bit different.
5. "Is it okay to miss a stranger?" by NachinesCorner
Total score: 87
Review: I liked this book a lot, ended up reading the entirety of it instead of just 5 chapters. But you need to do some serious editing and I say this as someone who liked your book, but had to deduct points due to incorrect grammar and a bleak cover. You've got great potential, try to use it and cultivate it wisely.
6. "KEHINDE" by WendyOpurum212
Total score: 87/100
Review: The title wasn't the most original but the plot surely was. There were major grammar mistakes through the chapters I read and I had to deduct points for that. I loved your plot though, just try to improve your grammar and you will achieve a lot.
7. "The Stars with you" by jackyswork
Total score: 86/100
Review: The title didn't really make sense with the book and your grammar was a little less than perfect. If you try improving on those aspects, I'm sure that with this plot, your book will go to places.
8. "Under the Starlit Sky" by theblueidprincess
Overall:86 /100
Review: Such an interesting concept - your writing is style is so lovely - I love the descriptions and the flow. Curious to see what happens next!
9. "Southern Love" by SaraMayBooks
Overall score: 85/100
This book was really well written. The grammar was good as well as the vocabulary. The plot flowed smoothly. The blurb, however, could do with some work. I don't think it was intriguing enough to capture readers' attention. And the errors in the blurb should be fixed as well.
10. "Bowstrings & Velvet" by EmilyMorgans
Overall score: 81/100
The blurb is very intriguing. The cover, however, could do with some work. The plot of the story flows well but I do think there are things missing that could help the reader understand the world the writer is painting. The idea of the story is original. The writing of the story could be spruced up a bit in regard to grammar and punctuation. But overall it was well written.
