Bearpaw scraped his claws madly against the wood as he satisfyingly watched his claws sharpen.His sharp-to-the-point claws would do him good.

"I can't wait until I get a hold of Alex!"he growled,imagining the wood as the brown male wolf.

"I feel the same,"Shadestar sneered,his yellow eyes glowing.

"I thought you and Alex were from the same O.C. group,"Firefly mewed suspiciously.

Shadestar snorted."And did I become his ally?"

Bearpaw ignored the two older toms as he gazed excitedly at Dodre as the wolf's unblinking pale green eyes glared into the blizzard."Are we going to battle yet?"he asked impatiently,scrabbling his paws on the snow-packed earth.

"Have patience,Bearpaw,"Dodre barked,his tail tip twitching slightly."We still need to track them down."

"In this weather?"Coldice exclaimed,her face twisted in shock."You have to be crazy!"

"We won't even be able to see their pawprints in this blizzard,"Firefly added."Good thing we took the time to build around the trees."

Bearpaw nodded as he looked around him.He and the others had taken the time to gather as many shrubs,bracken,weeds and moss as possible to get ready for the brewing storm.There were still a few patches that allowed the freezing winds to blow in,but otherwise,Bearpaw had to admit,he was impressed at their hard work.

"Doesn't matter,"Dodre barked,a small grin crossing his face."I don't need paw prints to find them."

"So we're just going to run around until we think we've found it,realize we haven't,then keep running until we freeze?That sounds like a great plan.Not,"Coldice grumbled sarcastically.

There was a crackling pause between everyone until Dodre spoke again."Follow me."Whisking through the heather that was made as an opening,his tail disappeared.

"Come on,you fat lumps!"Shadestar hissed."You heard him!"

Bearpaw felt his pelt prickle in excitement.They were going to avenge Kelive's death at last!

::Swiftstar's POV::

Swiftstar found herself repeatedly struggling to climb the oak tree that was their new camp just to look out for Echostrike.Everyday,every moment,every second she hoped she would at least see a sign-even a tuft of her fur would be nice.She never saw anything,though.All she could do was squint her ice blue eyes against the blazing snowflakes that swirled in the blizzard as she clung tightly onto her branch and only pray to StarClan she would catch a glimpse of the silver tabby.

This time,despite the fact Swiftstar's paws were starting to go numb,she stayed out longer than intended to just to look for Echostrike.She flattened her slowly numbing ears against her head to keep out the howling wind,though her attempts were in vain.Doing her best to ignore it,she continued gazing out into the snow landfill.Her eyelids were drooping as the cold seeped through her fluffed out fur and to her skin.Frost lined around her tail as it sat uselessly around her frozen paws.Swiftstar kept watching,waiting,hoping for anything to show a sign that Echostrike was still alive.

Nothing happened.Nothing happened for hours.By the time it would've been past sun-high in SwiftClan,Swiftstar was forced back into her nest by an emotionless Alex.She was incredibly confused by why the male wolf had been like this ever since he found out Coldice joined Dodre's group.She had-unfortunately-lost Echostrike to Dodre too,but she hadn't changed a bit.If anything it fueled her decision to keep fighting for the she-cat until she rejoined her.Alex...he was just a massive wreck.He rarely ever left his nest,rarely spoke to anyone,and almost never ate claiming he had felt sick for a while.

Swiftstar could understand the sick part-it wouldn't take much for even herself to get simple whitecough.But Swiftstar wasn't even sure if wolves could get whitecough,so she was left without a clue of the cause of the sickness.

Alex rarely leaving his nest or speaking to anyone was a completely different thing.It was as if he was...soulless.Swiftstar shuddered.The very thought spooked her.

Shaking it all off,she poked her head outside again to see for possible the fourth time that day if Echostrike was anywhere to be seen.Snow blasted into her face that made her teeth chatter.Forcing her jaw to keep still,she scanned the slopes.The response was the same as before-nothing.

Swiftstar lightly scowled.What was the point in sitting around doing nothing when she could be looking for her lost friend?Well,ex-friend was more like it.

Forcing back the memory,Swiftstar pulled her head back in,but continued watching through the hole of the trunk at a distance.

Darkness slowly shadowed over the land.The blizzard never stopped-it never seemed to stop.Swiftstar curled her tail over her pink nose while keeping one eye fixed on the hole as the stars started twinkling in the dark sky.The starry image of Kelive glowed in the sky.

A lump formed in her throat.Swiftstar would've never wished death upon such a young creature.Tearing her icy gaze away from the sky,she was surprised to see a figure shadowed against the snowy background.Hope soared in her chest.

Echostrike found us!

Then she quickly realized the figure had brought along some others in varying shapes and sizes.Dread crushed whatever hope Swiftstar had before as cold fear gripped its icy claws around her.

Dodre found us!

::Dappleheart's POV::

Dappleheart was startled away by a sharp prod in her side.Groggily opening her eyes,she glanced at the body standing over her.She snapped to full awareness when she realized it was Swiftstar.The blue smoke with white she-cats face was wild with shock and fear and her fur was bristling.

"Dodre found us!"she practically screeched in her ear."And he's not alone!"

Dappleheart immediately jumped to her paws while whipping her tail into Splash's face.The Aussie let out an irritable groan as he struggled to wake up faster.

"Shadestar found us?"he woofed,his speech slurred by sleep.

"Not just Shadestar-he's come with Dodre and the rest of his fox-hearts!"

"How?"Dappleheart mewed quickly."You can't even find the scent of vole out in this storm.Why would he even risk going out in this weather to find us?"

"Who knows?"Skycloud hissed,her ears now pricked."Whatever reason he's here for,it's for one thing only-to kill us all."

"We can't let him."Dappleheart whipped around,surprised to see Alex glaring at all him,his orange eyes that stayed dull for so long now replaced with a blazing,kindling fire.

"Then let's get out there!"Swiftstar snarled,her tail lashing madly.

Alex shook his head."No.It would be foolish to run into battle like month-old pups who have no clue how to defend themselves."He paused before continuing.

"Here's the plan..."

AAAHHH I UPDATED ON A FRIDAY ~;D;~ *huggles everybody* This sore throat is bothering me ono (I know last time I updated I said it was a scratchy throat but now it's slowly turned into a sore throat...) And I'm starting to cough. ;-; Come on immune system,why you gotta do me like that? DX

Alright,enough about me being sick and all...Yeessh,I did a cliff hanger you must be patient and wait for the next chapter to be published. -u- If you bother all day and over the weekend for it,then updating is so not gonna happen.I DIDN'T SURVIVE THE THIRD WEEK OF SCHOOL JUST TO LISTEN TO YOU GUYS,COMPLAIN TO ME OVER THE WEEKEN,HOW I,AM TOO SLOW,TO UPDATE,THE O.C. HUNGER GAMES! O^O *eyes twitches* 

Sorry for dat little rant. ^^; Ahhh,but seriously guys,I try my best to update when I can so bugging me about it will not only make me not want to update the story but also doesn't give me more time to update.(Not that anyone has actually been complaining about it *suspiciously glares at xXIshehXx)So,yea,complaining about it is pointless. -3- Welp,time to continue reading Crookedstar's Promise! :D (Yesh,I got that from the library today -u-)
