Shawn let out a deep breath as he handed Adeline the bag that was filled with chocolate. He was panting and slightly sweaty.
Adeline grimaced as she looked at Shawn. "Did you run?"
Shawn nodded as he heaved. "Y-Yeah." He wiped his forehead. "Thompson's was closed so I rushed down to the next convience store and luckily they were open."
Adeline grabbed his hand and dragged him with her. "You could've drove, Shawn! You idiot."
Shawn smiled at the small woman's rambling. "Adeline I'm fine, really you don't have to worry."
"Zip it." Adeline muttered as she rushed around the small kitchen. The kitchen was tiny as it was, but with Shawn's tall body in there Adeline was nearly brushing against him or bumping into things.
Shawn was distracted by the many goods that laid on the counters and was startled when a cold water bottle was thrusted his way. He muttered a thanks and took a generous gulp.
"Thanks." He muttered. Adeline nodded and gave him a kind smile.
Shawn smiled back and gave a light shrug of his shoulders. "So, why did you need me to go get chocolate?"
Adeline busied herself with combining all of her wet ingredients and smiled happily down at the bowl, "That lady out there?" Shawn peeked though the window that allowed him to see that consumers. "She comes in every Saturday looking so sad. I hear a lot of things, she's a single mom who shares custody with her ex husband every weekend. This is the first time I've seen her with he boys and knowing she's not going to be with them very long makes me sad."
Adeline let out a sigh as she poured chocolate chips into the batter and stirred, "Adeline's double chocolate chip cookies are for mending broken souls."
Shawn nodded a little as his eyes glanced to the older woman who was muttering along the the opening theme song to The Dinosaur Train while bouncing one of the boys on her knees.
Shawn smiled and turned his attention back to Adeline who was using a dinosaur cut out on the fresh cookie dough. She let out a huff, "Normally I would let the dough sit in the fridge bu-"
"Do you really like helping people that much?" Shawn blurted out, he couldn't help but be suspicious that this woman was a decoy. Maybe only wanted to be friends with him because he is Shawn Mendes.
Adeline stopped moving the cut outs to the sheet and turned to Shawn with furrowed brows. "Of course, for all the people in the world there isn't enough love." A small smile came to her lips as she remembered her sister's words. "Not everyone has it easy, so I'm going to make it as easy as I can for those around me."
Shawn nodded along with the girl's words, he was still unsure of this weird lady that worked at a cafe. "I totally understand that. I love when my fans write me messages even if it's just about their days, I want them to know someone is always going to be there for them if they know it or not."
Setting her timer, Adeline placed it next to them as she leaned back against the counter next to Shawn. "You're a nice person, Steve." She said with a grin before nudging him with her shoulder. "I still don't like you though. "
Shawn let out a laugh before quieting it down and giving Adeline a sad smile. "I'm sorry, y'know, for not showing up my man-"
"It's fine, I get it. You're mister superstar. You're probably all kinds of busy."
Shawn shook his head. "I wasn't busy, I just forgot about the meet up." He hesitantly moved his head to her shoulder and let out a sigh. "I would like to see what you wanted to show me. "
