The next day, we had maths as first period.

And I decided to ditch class.

Trust me, I hated maths with the whole of my soul. I couldn't go to the Art studio because it was locked so I decided to go to the music room. Empress couldn't ditch with me because she was new and on probation so her attendance must be complete.

When I got to the room, a sweet melody was being played. I felt enticed and followed the sound. I found a guy playing the piano at a corner. He continued playing it felt like I was in cloud nine. The music he was playing was so beautiful I couldn't help but enjoy it.

Then he stopped.

He turned back and I gasped when I saw Alex behind the piano.

"Sorry I didn't mean to intrude" I stammered slightly and turned around to leave.

"Wait"

I froze.

Partly because I have never really heard his voice before. The second reason was because he asked me to wait.

I turned around slowly and met him staring at me with no expression on his face.

"You like the song?" He asked softly. Unlike what I believed, he had a soft boyish voice (P.s I always thought he sounded like a huge giant..A giant like Goliath maybe)

"Uhm..yes I do" I replied. Somehow I was still expecting him to shout evilly and have horns grow from his head. But his dreadlocks just remained the same except for the occasional breeze that swirled them around.

"Sit down and listen then" he said and like he spelled me, I stood up and sat down not far from him. He started playing "Dandelions"  by Ruth B and it was completely beautiful. I wanted to sing but I was afraid I'll kill the sweetness with my bad voice but I hummed the song.

When he was done, he closed the piano and caressed it with his fingers. The silence between us was oddly comforting even though my body was still on the edge.

Well don't blame me! This dude never speaks to anyone!

"Do you sing?" I blurted out. I wondered how it would be like to hear him sing with his soft voice.

"No. I don't like singing" he replied.

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"I just don't like it. What bout you?"  This time he looked at me.

"Well, I can't sing to save my life. Have you heard me sing? When I sing the birds screech in horror" I rambled. I saw his lips twitch to one side and my jaw nearly dropped when I realized what he was trying to do.

Was he trying to smile?

He chuckled.

OH MY GOD GUYS! ALEX JUST CHUCKLED AS IN..HE SMILED AND LAUGHED A LITTLE!

But I yelled in my mind.

"You're funny. I noticed that in class"

He noticed me?

"Really? Wow..I didn't know you did. You don't talk you know"

"Yeah. I'm sure that's the reason you told Skye I'm dumb?" He asked. I blushed furiously out of embarrassment and hoped he wasn't angry. But when I looked at him, there was amusement in his eyes.

"I'm sorry. That wasn't meant to be heard by you though and it was my honest opinion" I apologized.

"Nah it's cool. I like people who are not afraid to say their minds" he said and smiled warmly.

Damn when Alex smiles, he looks really cute.

Almost like..

No! Not there!

"You have any sibling here?" He asked. I shook my head

"Nah. My elder brother refused to come here because he hates being a boarder. So he went to Zenith High"

"Wow, that expensive school in Abuja?"

"Yes. The only one and only most annoying school" I said and scoffed.

"What about you?"

"Oh I have a cousin. He's in Ss3 though."

"Oh wow. That's nice" I replied and stared at my nails.

"Are you going to class or you intend to sleep here?" He asked. By the time I snapped out of my thoughts, I saw him standing already with his hands in his pockets.

"Sleep here ke, I'm going to class now" I replied and stood up.

"Let's go together then" he muttered.

And we walked to class. Luckily for us, there was no teacher in the class. So some of our classmates were just talking and gisting aimlessly with each other. Sounds of laughter erupted once in a while from groups in their corners.

It was when we walked in that the noise died down. And they all stared at use like we had tails at our behinds. I was confused.

Why were they staring?

My eyes met Skye's and the way her jaw dropped told me something was wrong.

"Why are they staring at us like that?" I asked Alex who looked unbothered.

"Because they've seen the class deaf and mute boy with a girl" he replied in a bored tone.

It hit me.

I was practically walking with Alex!

And our dear Lisa has spoken to Alex😭🌹 Should we create a ship name for them? #Alisa
