When I heard the principal's voice even in my deep sleep, I woke up faster than my elder brother could eat puff puff (which he does very fast by the way)

I blinked away the sweetness and lure of the sleep and noticed a tall girl was beside him. She was not dark but she wasn't fair either, although she was on the light side. She was slim, but still had a bit more body than me.

And wow, she was beautiful.

I could hear the whistles and the way some of my classmates were gossipping her. She wasn't smiling, but she wasn't frowning either. Her face was just blank and devoid of emotions.

"Ss2 Emerald you guys are too noisy for my liking" Mr Lade, our able but seriously wicked principle growled.

"Sorry sir" we apologized quickly.

He huffed and stepped back, making the girl step forward.

"So, this is your new classmate. Please introduce yourself dear."

"My name is Empress Edet and I'm a transfer student from Noble Crest school. I hope to make good acquaintance with everyone and hopefully not get on anyone's bad side" she said calmly. I liked her easy confidence and the way she carried herself.

"Why is she na forming alpha boss?"

"I don't even know sef. She's slim like that thin witch"

Nobody needed to tell me who was busy running her mouth like tap water behind me. I turned around and met Suzy and Danielle staring at me with disdain. I rolled my eyes at their childishness and looked away.

"So where would you like to sit Empress?"

"Sir I have free space beside me oo!" Adam, the class clown shouted. Some of us laughed as we knew he pushed away his friend so she could sit with him.

Boys.

"Uhm, no thanks. But I would like to sit with the girl by the window" she said softly. I blinked when I saw her pointing at me.

Me?

That was when I noticed there was a window beside me.

Oh! I was the girl beside the window!

And she wanted to sit with me!

"Is that okay with you Lisa?" Mr Lade asked.

"Yes sir." I replied. Empress took her back pack and walked to where I was. She sat beside me and started removing her books. While the principal left the class, I debated mentally on whether I say hi or not.

"Hey there" she greeted, flashing me a warm smile. If I thought she was pretty with the blank expression, smiling made her even more beautiful.

"Hii! How are you? Uhm..welcome to Nile International" I responded warmly. I didn't know why I was jittery, maybe it was because she was the first girl to speak nicely to me. Others either wanted me to be their minion or they just hated me outrightly.

"Thank you love. What's your name?"

"Lisa. Lisa Wande and you're Empress Edet" I smiled. She smiled back and held out her hands.

"Wanna be friends?"

God, it felt like she was giving me a thousand dollars. Mind you I was not desperate for friends. It was just that I liked the way she was so calm and genuine about everything.

"Sure! Why not?" I replied happily and shook her hand.

"You really want to be friends with this thin bitch?"

Omo, it's like this Daniella of a girl is really obsessed with me.

Empress looked at her with scorn evident on her face. Good, she wasn't a walkover.

"Excuse me and who are you?" She asked sharply. That must have surprised Daniella because she blinked at Empress. I laughed within myself, was she expecting Empress to act in awe of her?

"I'm Daniella of course. Daniella Okafor and I'm the queen bee of this great school. You should be lucky I'm talking to you, I don't really talk to people like this. I just like you"

Says someone that was envying her earlier.

"And I'd like you to join us"

Empress looked from one face to another and relaxed on her chair.

"I'm not interested".

I thought I heard Daniella choke.

"What?"

"I said I'm not interested. I already have a friend"

"Who?"

I shook my head. On top ugliness she was still dumb.

Shame.

"Lisa."

Danielle glared at me but I smiled innocently at her.

"You-You witch! I'm sure you fed her lies about me abi?"

"She didn't need to. I've seen you inside out and I don't like you." Empress said before I could defend myself.

I almost pitied Daniella with the look she had on her face.

Keyword: almost

"Why?"

"Because you are fake. Everything about you is fake. Your face,hair and even your dressing. You look loose too"

Damn! Tell me why I shouldn't like this babe? She was like me, blunt and straight to the point.

Daniella looked so shocked I almost burst out laughing but I managed to hold myself so as not to cause myself more trouble.

"So you prefer to join this low life than us?" Suzy asked spitefully.

"Better to be free than to be a slave" Empress said and shrugged. I bit my lip and boned my face so as not to laugh.

If not because I was a girl, I would have fallen for Empress already.

"Shut up! As you have decided to join this loser, you become a loser too" one of her minions said. What was her name again? Jennifer? Jessica? Both?

I didn't care Sha.

"Even a loser I am right now I'm still way better than you. Slow puppet" Empress shot back.

"Come on girls, let's leave these bitches be" Daniella said and smirked.

"Your second name?" I said softly. She hissed and stormed away. When she left, we looked at each other and started laughing suddenly.

The class looked at us like we were crazed clowns but we didn't care. We just continued laughing like there was some invisible funny movie playing before us that they couldn't see.

"Wahala for who no dey take hard drugs oo"

I recognize Adam's voice but I paid no heed to him.

"You were giving alpha female" I laughed.

"Really? I was scared though but I decided not to show it" she said and blushed.

"Something tells us we are going to be great friends. Not just friends but great ones." I said happily.

"I know. And I'm happy I met you"

"Me too"

And when I reached out to hug her, I caught someone's eyes before closing mine. They were staring at me all along.

They belonged to Alex.

Wow 😂 Empress is hereeeeee....😜 And she's a crazy one like Lisa.

Daniella and her minions no dey rest sef.
