6. Emotions Are Painful
Ochaco was suprised by Izuku's question.
She must not have answered quick enough for Izuku's comfort, because he looked away from her, a guilty expression on his face. "I-I'm s-sorry, I shouldn't have sa-"
Ochaco cut him off, "of course not, Izuku! You're nothing like those Nomus. You're an amazing person, okay? Nothing will change that."
Izuku seemed to freeze with shock, before nodding, although he didn't look like he believed her.
As they walked out the door, Ochaco noticed something off about his eyes. The irises were a pitch black color. She didn't like the feeling that the color gave off. It felt empty and at the same time filled with negativity.
Was that how Izuku felt?
They approached the school building, and Ochaco used her ID card to enter the building, Izuku following along behind.
She led the nomu-boy to Recovery Girl's office, and knocked on the door, in hopes she'd still be there.
She wasn't there.
It made sense, of course. It was midnight, not many would be awake at this time. So Recovery Girl wouldn't need to be healing anyone at this time.
Except Izuku was still bleeding from the head.
"C'mon, Izuku. We'll just have to bandage it up ourselves." Ochaco said, opening the door to the room. "Sh-should we be going in there without permission?" Izuku asked, doubt filling his voice.
"It'll be fine" she reassured him. He nodded doubtfully, and followed her in.
Ochaco led Izuku to the bed, and told him to lie down on it. She then washed her hands, and came back to clean around the wounds, causing Izuku to flinch slightly.
Ochaco grabbed a roll of gauze of the counter, and pressed the gauze against the wounds. "I'm supposed to apply pressure on it for ten minutes so that it'll stop bleeding, alright?" She stated. Izuku just hummed in response, not looking like he was entirely there mentally.
After it had stopped bleeding, Ochaco wrapped more clean gauze around his head, covering the injuries.
"There! All done! That wasn't so bad, was it?" Ochaco clapped. Izuku hummed, "it wasn't bad... but won't we get in trouble?"
"Of course not, silly" Ochaco said, pulling the boy up. "Do you think you'll be ok to go back to bed?"
He hesitated, before shaking his head. "Honestly..... whenever something like this happens.... I..." his breath hitched as he cut himself off, and he looked down at his feet. "Sorry.." he muttered.
Ochaco smiled at him, trying to be comforting, "you don't need to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong". She brought him back to the dorms, and sat down on the couch, gesturing for him to sit down aswell.
He did so, leaning his head on Ochaco's shoulder. She reached up to ruffle Izuku's already messy hair, causing him to flinch away, though he allowed her to play with his hair after a moment.
It was surprisingly soft.
"Uhmmm... can we just... stay here for the rest of the night? I-i mean, if your comfortable with it, y-y-you don't have to..." Izuku said hesitantly, as if he expected an instant 'no'. Not that she blamed him, with the way he was probably treated his whole life. Of course, the question made her blush like crazy, causing her to look like a tomato.
"Uh... sure?" Ochaco said, as embarrassed as Izuku was to ask the question.
[The next morning]
Even though it was the weekend, Iida woke up bright and early. He was a stickler for rules, after all. He walked downstairs to the main floor, going to make himself breakfast. However, the sight within the common room was definitely not what he expected.
Uraraka was snuggled up with Izuku, and both were passed out. If he was remembering correctly, however, both of them had went to their dorms after the movie.
Iida decided to just let them be, and went to the kitchen to start making his breakfast.
Not too long after, the rest of the class started to come down.
Most of them, while suprised, didn't really react to the pair, choosing to carry on with their day.
Mineta just stared at them, whining, "how come the Nomu can get a girl but I can't?"
Kaminari nodded in agreement, "yeah, its not fair!"
The girls who were awake facepalmed at the two boys.
Iida had to drag them away from the couch.
[Oh, the timeskips came back]
Izuku slowly opened his eyes, scanning the area. He was in the common room, which was surprisingly quiet, with all the people there.
He had fallen asleep on the couch, next to something warm. Huh. I thought I went to bed last night...
He pulled the warmth closer to him.
Only to realize that it was from Ochaco, who had her arms wrapped around him.
He suddenly got nervous from all the people within the room. Of course, this always happened when he had one of his breakdowns back in the orphanage. He'd become nervous far more easily, become uncomfortable at the smallest of things, and his emotions were either on overdrive or completely numb. Izuku really wasn't sure which was worse. He also had a higher chance of having nightmares.
He knew that it would leave at some point, but one wrong action could cause it too last longer than usual.
He wanted to go back to his room and just wait it out. Like that would happen. If he was alone than that would cause problems as well.
But being around so many people wasn't going to help his nerves.
He wanted to cry, or scream, or even just whimper, but no sound left his mouth. If he did that, he'd be showing the hero students just how weak he truly was. And then they'd tease him, and beat him, and tell him he'd be better off dead, and leave him to die, and then he'd be even weaker, and it would just be a never-ending cycle of suffering.
His emotions were definitely on overdrive...
He prevented himself from crying, instead keeping his face void of emotion. He hid his face on Ochaco's shoulder, which instead allowed the bandages on his head to show.
Then a student in the common room asked, "why do you have bandages?"
