Jeff's POV
"No, no, no, no, no!" I grabbed the guitar from Barcode. "You're playing the wrong chords and the wrong tempo. This is how it should be done."
I got so engrossed with showing Barcode the right chords, my head bowed and eyes fixed on the strings of the guitar, that I had not noticed that Barcode had left the room.
When I looked up from the guitar I discovered that he was no longer in the room.
I gently set down the guitar on its stand and went looking for him.
Was he sulking from me? Had I been too harsh on him?
I went out the front door and looked around. He wasn't in the front yard.
I decided to walk over to the side gate that led to the side yard and back yard.
I couldn't find him there either.
But wait, there was a slight movement behind the frangipani tree. I saw part of his arm that was covered by his gray long sleeved shirt.
I walked quietly towards him.
"Are you alright?" I asked gently.
He did not answer but kept looking down on the ground.
"Look I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings," I said. "I just wanted to teach you the right way of playing that song on the guitar. I should have been more gentle with you."
I took hold of his hand and led him back to the house.
Just before I opened the side gate he stopped.
"What is it?" I asked.
He reached out and upward and removed something from the top of my head.
He handed it over to me. It was a frangipani bloom that had fallen from one of the branches.
I took it and held it to my nose. I liked the fragrance of frangipani blooms.
Click! I heard his phone.
He had taken a shot of me while I was smelling the frangipani bloom.
I smiled at him and he smiled back.
Thank goodness he was in a good mood again.
"Let's have a cold drink before we continue with your guitar lessons," I suggested.
He nodded.
I walked over to the refrigerator and opened its door.
"Mango or orange?" I asked.
"Cold chocolate," he replied.
I smiled. He was lucky I still had some of the milk chocolate tetra packs in my fridge.
I picked one up from the side door of the fridge and tossed it over to him.
"Catch!" I yelled playfully and he caught it like a pro.
I poured some mango juice into a tall glass and enjoyed the feel of the cold drink sliding down my throat. Aah, it tasted so good.
Barcode was already seated on the couch swiping stuff on his phone screen.
Suddenly he yelled excitedly.
"Phi Jeff! Read this!"
He handed his phone over to me.
The Sawatmaneekul Entertainment had announced a weird project called "The No-Kiss Challenge". The winners stood to gain a whopping thirty million baht to be shared equally between the two winners.
I scrolled down the screen to read the details of the challenge.
Then I glanced at Barcode who was looking up expectantly at me with a smile.
"What do you think?" I asked him.
"I think we can win the challenge," he replied.
"Are you sure that you will be able to keep your hands off me during those six months?" I asked him teasingly.
"Mmm" he nodded vigorously.
I studied his face and then something hit me. I didn't think that I could get through those six months without any physical contact with him.
I suddenly realized how much I loved this kid.
I shook my head at him.
