For those who might not know him, his name is Aun Napat Patcharachavalit. He played the role of Folk in the BL series "My Gear, Your Gown".
This is a continuation of chapter 16.
Aun's POV
From afar I saw Louis sliding his key card into one of the doors of our dorm.
I tried to hurry so that I could reach him enough to be within hearing distance but I was too late. He had managed to open the door and enter his room.
Maybe it was all for my own good. I wouldn't have known what to say to him. I probably would have been overcome by shyness and would have blurted out something dumb and it would have reinforced his idea that athletes were all brawn and no brains.
I proceeded to my own room which was just three doors away from his. I had to share my room with the twins AJ and JJ. We had been assigned a bigger room than the others and this room could fit three occupants which was convenient for the twins but not for me.
Fortunately the twins had not yet arrived so I had the room all to myself for now.
I went about unpacking my stuff and setting them in my area of the room. I chose the bed closest to the bathroom. I tended to waken most nights to use the bathroom so it was important to me that my bed was close to it.
I put on some music while going about unpacking.
Suddenly the door opened and in came the boisterous twins. They were arguing as usual.
I didn't bother to greet them but continued hanging my shirts and pants in the closet that I had claimed for myself to use.
Although they were tall, I was a full head taller than them. I was actually the tallest member of the whole basketball team. And the youngest, having only turned eighteen a few months ago.
"Have you seen shorty yet?" AJ shot the question at me.
I ignored him. I knew that he was fishing. I knew that he had the suspicion that I was crushing on Louis. Although he was right on the money I wasn't going to admit it to him. AJ was the campus town crier. The moment he knew for sure, in just a few hours the whole campus would be abuzz with gossip about me and my crush on Louis. Then Louis would probably hate me more than he already did.
But AJ was not going to be ignored. He squeezed himself between me and the row of clothes in the closet.
Before he could say a word, I said to him, "Don't call him shorty."
"I'm sorry," he said with a false contrition. "Have you seen the boy of your dreams yet?"
"Don't call him a boy..." I started to say.
My eyes widened at the realization that I had given myself away.
"Very well then, the man of your dreams," AJ said, a smug look creeping into his face.
I dropped the part wooden, part metal hanger onto the floor.
"Oww!" he exclaimed.
I had accidentally dropped the hanger onto his bare feet.
I almost said "Sorry, not sorry" but it wouldn't do me good if I was going to ask him not to say anything about it to anyone.
I placed both of my hands on his shoulders and looked him squarely in the eyes.
"Listen, AJ," I began. "I am going to ask you only once to keep what you have just discovered from spreading around the campus. If you so much as breathe a word about it to anyone, you are dead meat, you hear me?"
"What are you gonna do to me?" he asked, pretending to look scared at my threat.
"I'm gonna maim you permanently so that you will never be able to play basketball again," I said. "That's a promise." I added for good measure.
"I won't tell anyone, but if you want I can be your wingman," he said. "If you have noticed, Louis prefers to talk to me more than any other member of our team."
AJ was right. From time to time I would feel jealous of AJ who seemed to get preferential attention from Louis whenever we did our practice shots at the auditorium.
I stopped to seriously consider AJ's offer.
I guess there was no harm but only good to be gained from his offer.
"Sure," I said, stooping to pick up the fallen wooden and metal hanger.
