The Nightmare
The young woman looked at me strangely. "I am the only one here."
I stared at her. I saw similarities in the young woman and the extremely elderly woman from before.
I looked around once more than said "thank you for the book." I turned and walked out of the library.
I got to the car I borrowed and was about to get in when I heard. "Did you finish reading the book, dear?"
I looked up and saw the elderly lady standing on the other side of the car.
I shook my head no.
"You need to read it all. It's the only way." She said. Than too my surprise the woman just vanished.
I drove quietly to a motel. I booked a room and went inside.
I needed to finish the book. My stomach growled again and I realized I hadn't gotten anything to eat yet.
I groaned and got up. I decided to head across the street to a convenance store.
----after getting some snacks---
I was half done my book when I felt my eyes growing heavy. I was tired. The clock read midnight. I yawned again and set my book aside.
It didn't take long and I was fast asleep.
It also didn't take long and the nightmare started.
It was all the same. I woke up in a drenching sweat.
I couldn't make myself go back to sleep so I picked up the book and started reading again .......
The Greyson house was established in 1860. The first owner was Marcus and Velborga Greyson. They had four daughters and three sons. The house was passed down to their eldest son Walter who married Veronica Smithston. The two had two daughters and four sons. Once again the house was passed on to their eldest son. His name was Gregory. He married Crystal White. The two had four children. Two girls and two boys. Though sadly the story of this house turns tragic.
.....
I paused in my reading to rub my eyes. I was getting a headache. The clock read six in the morning. I sighed I had gotten maybe four hours of sleep.
I decided I needed a coffee and a smoke before I continue with my reading.
I got out of bed and made a pot of coffee. It took six minutes to make the pot. I poured a cup and lit a smoke.
Fifteen minutes later I picked up the book again and continued reading.
.....
Gregory Greyson went off to war and left his family behind. Near the end of the war a deranged man entered the Greyson house and tortured and murdered the whole family.
When Gregory got back two days later he discovered the horrible scene.
He was furious and seeked revenge. He called in the Royal Canadian Mountain Police and an investigation was carried out. It was determined that Walker Right was the murderer. And they found his dead body in the family's wood shed.
After a few years Gregory remarried and started another family. He had married Crystal's younger sister Holly.
They had three children. Two boys and a girl. The girl looked identical to Holly's sister Crystal.
After a few more years strange happenings started to occur. and the daughter was brutally tortured and than found dead.
This continued till the family gave the town the house and moved out in 1964.
The family was Gregory's great grandson and he had lost his one sister and one of his daughters. Before he moved the rest of his family out.
It was suspicious that each of the woman looked similar to Crystal White. The last known death was Arial Greyson in November in 1992. She was twenty nine years old. She had been lured back to the house and was found dead.
.....
I sat there shocked. I reread that last line four times. The name was my mothers. The man that had raised me as his own was actually my uncle. I was born in October of 84. I am now twenty nine years old. And I had been lured back.
