A rundown of some of our favorite and not so favorite people in Book #3 "The Night's Curse".

WAVERLY STUMP: First born mortal daughter of Selene, and first child of a Human named Stump. She is also the foster child of HalfHyde, an Elven-dwarf, who found her on his doorstep as an infant. She discovers her identity as a demigod, (Zanaan or god's blood) and this opens up an entire world of possibilities and danger. She is occasionally referred to as the "Daughter of Alluna". Waverly is twelve years old at the start of the series.

Personality/Attributes: Kind, courteous when necessary, stubborn, impulsive, thoughtful, brilliant on several occasions, smart, carefree, overprotective, curious, non-conforming, unpredictable, friendly, energetic.

JUDSON: Son of Juniper and a nature enthusiast. He is the reserved yet supportive best friend of Waverly, who tags along when she sneaks off to save her mother despite his initial disapproval of the idea in the first book. He discovers his identity as a demigod (Zanaan or god's blood) after a tree spirit named Hebenyf reveals it to him. He is occasionally referred to as the "Son of Spring". Judson is thirteen years old at the start of the series.

Personality/Attributes: Kind, self-effacing, gentle, thoughtful, loves nature, loyal, quiet, modest, adaptable, committed, sensitive, faithful, spontaneous, empathetic, brilliant.

HALFHYDE OAKECREST: His background is not elaborated on, but in the youthful days of the Elven King of Alpgeton, HalfHyde served as a high ranking soldier in the army. He moves to Bremeton to settle quietly and subsequently finds a Human infant on his doorstep. He is responsible for benaming Waverly solely because of her wavy curls. HalfHyde is unaware of Waverly's journey to rescue her mother and believes she has gone missing. He is wary of Judson for reasons unknown. He is revealed to be two hundred and fifty five in Elf years at the start of the series.

Personality/Attributes: Firm, disciplined, autonomous, sometimes standoffish, principled, concise, friendly to a degree, knowledgeable, wise, logical, philosophical.

BRIJJET ALYZA "BRIGGS" BRIDONIS: He is the child of a minor Entonian deity named Brid – a Spirit Hunter and direct servant to the supreme goddess, Cret. Brijjet is a highly skilled deadeye archer, Zanaan, and a native of Alpgeton by birth. He is blessed with multiple gifts including a quarter of Plecteri (means "changing") which allows him switch genders. He later becomes a Company soldier in the King's army. He is killed in Waverly's presence from the poisoned horn of an unnamed creature. He is fifty two in Elf years when he is first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Helpful, easy-going, straightforward, capricious, thoughtful, intelligent, dutiful, supportive, irresponsible, considerate, loyal, unrelenting, good-natured, observant.

HAVILAH HLERRA IDRIL: She is a Wood Elf, who takes a quick liking to Waverly the first day they meet. She supports and defends Waverly during her first few weeks as a Tyro. She is a Tyro, a skilled swordswoman, an avid climber, and betrothed to the Snow Elf named Regent. None of her family members are mentioned. She is killed by a She-Monster during the very first attack from the dark army. Havilah is eighteen in Elf years when she is first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Devoted, empathetic, deliberate, motivator, sensitive, calm, levelheaded, independent, compassionate, deep, warm, holistic, friendly, kind.

PHYLLIS OLWIRIEN MIFFLIN: She is a Wood Elf, a Tyro, and one of Waverly's roommates. She is revealed to be the granddaughter of General Priam and his wife, Dahlia. No other of her family members are mentioned. She is a skilled swordswoman and engaged to Ceylon. She supports and admires Waverly, and is a loyal friend to her. Phyllis is eighteen in Elf years when she is first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Original, virtuous, compassionate, friendly, gentle, noble, introspective, idealistic, troubleshooter, expedient, resourceful, flexible, independent, calm.

REGENT HARUETH MORFIR: He is the only Snow Elf amongst his friends, a Tyro, and one of Waverly's roommates. He takes a quick liking to Waverly on their first meeting, and becomes one of her strongest supporters. He is betrothed to Havilah, but sadly loses her in battle after she is fatally stabbed by a She-Monster. Regent is creative and an inventor. He crafts new weapons from scrap and does not have a specific method of fighting. He is closer to Grace than anyone else within his squad of friends. After his betrothed passed, he withdraws and becomes temporarily reticent. He is nineteen in Elf years when first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Innovative, accountable, inventive, creative, lively, adaptable, clever, outgoing, enthusiastic, visionary, friendly, supportive, nice, personable.

GRACE-IRIEL "GRASIRIEL" OLYSSA: She is a Wood Elf, a Tyro, and one of Waverly's roommates. She is revealed to have two younger siblings. Grace is a skilled combatant and a noticeably taller Elfin than most. Despite her size, she is compassionate and protects Waverly from bullies. She is twenty in Elf years when first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Bold, outspoken, vigilant, caring, resourceful, confident, efficient, outgoing, responsible, energetic, practical, friendly, blunt, decisive.

CEYLON HLESSORIAN RIGIL: He is a Wood Elf, a Tyro, and one of Waverly's roommates. He is an acute thrower that makes an annoying yet temporary habit of chucking blades without warning. He is betrothed to Phyllis and the more reserved of his companions. None of his family members are mentioned. Ceylon is nineteen in Elf years when he is first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Reticent, conventional, sensitive, unpredictable, calm, literal, orderly, authentic, independent, persuasive, adaptable, opinionated, trustworthy, relational.

DERMOT THEPERID "TOM RED" RUNEWELL: He is a Wood Elf and the elder, more reasonable twin brother of Diarmaid. He is a skilled swordsman, bowman and fisherman. He develops a strong bond with Waverly and they become inseparable until his unfortunate death at the hands of a She-Monster. Before his demise, he teaches Waverly numerous useful skills including how to speak English like a modern Elf. He is a Company soldier and also a close friend of Brijjet's. He is fifty five in Elf years when first introduced, but dies six days after he turns fifty six.

Personality/Attributes: Calm, steadfast, reliable, reasonable, focused, honest, factual, observer,  organized, consistent, humble, selfless, simple, analytical.

DIARMAID ELGROVE "DIAM RAID" RUNEWELL: He is a Wood Elf and the younger twin of Dermot. He is an equestrian and a skilled spearman, but would rather not fight at all. He is also a nonchalant prankster with a penchant for crafting wild traps. He is a Troop soldier in the King's army and a close friend of Brijjet's. He owns a dog named Borzoi and a horse named Betty, both of whom are very dear to him. After losing his elder brother in battle, he becomes more reserved and responsible. Diarmaid is fifty three in Elf years when first introduced.

Personality/Attributes: Gregarious, spontaneous, carefree, intrepid, critic, efficient, friendly, outgoing, irrational, playful, joyous, innovative, conceptual, curious.

AURORA ROZELLE MIRALEN: She is the Princess of Alpgeton, heir to the throne and only daughter to King Javan and Queen Daya. Aurora is blind when she is first introduced and is revealed to have been betrothed to Brijjet from a very young age. She is also revealed to have lost a part of her spirit to Brijjet during a childhood an incident. She is wary of Waverly because she suspects Brijjet has taken a serious liking to her. She is also a childhood friend of the Runewell brothers. After her eyesight is restored by Waverly and her subsequent marriage to Brijjet, she becomes less obnoxious toward Waverly. Hatred between the pair fuels up again after Brijjet dies, an incident Aurora blames on Waverly. Her age is not mentioned.

Personality/Attributes: Domineering, assertive, strong-willed, outspoken, competent, demanding, strategic, severe critic, pragmatic, versatile, materialistic.

OTHER NOTABLE CHARACTERS.

CASSIOPE: She is a very young nature spirit of the Heather, who befriends Waverly and keeps her company during time in confinement. It is not stated in the story, but Cassiope supposedly follows the carriage Waverly was being transported in and the pair meet afterwards. Cassiope proves to be a true, trustworthy and reliable friend though quite forgetful and sometimes portrayed as innocently dumb. As revealed, she is the last and youngest member of The Nature Council, a group of nature spirits who govern the affairs of all kinds of Derews in Alpgeton. She plays the brief role of a harmless informant to her superiors by relaying information about Waverly to the Nature Council as it is perceived that the former wields great nature powers. Cassiope is unfortunately killed during the last battle after a poisonous fume infects and destroys her mother plant.

LIZZETH: She is a direct handmaid to the Elf Queen. On her arrival to present gifts on the Queen's behalf, she receives a tragic vision from Waverly which eventually comes to pass. It is because of Lizzeth's subsequent survival from certain death that Waverly is able to escape crucial punishment for her crimes against Sir Chedor and his men.

SIR CHEDOR: He is a high ranking fleet soldier and a formal friend of Brijjet's. His very first encounter with Waverly leads him to dislike her. After she joins the Tyros, he tries to humiliate her on several occasions. Chedor eventually develops respect for Waverly after she achieves a great feat over the Dark Army.

THE NURSES - REELA, SAGE, NOBLE, MYRTA: These women are the most highly revered Elves after the members of the Royal Household. They are the oldest of their kin, believed to have been born in the time of King Erémel Duñnian – eleventh King of Elves, and served under King Idril Madaré the twelfth, who originally initiated the construction of Almshouses across Alpgeton. The Nurses, as they are fondly called, are two pairs of siblings, who share the same mother, but a different father. They are kindhearted healers, wise teachers, practitioners of powerful Elf magic and nuptial priestesses. They are responsible for caring for wounded travelers, refugees or immigrants – a task they execute more during the war with Oculmus's forces. They are well protected inside the palace during the assault on Alpgeton, therefore none was harmed.

RUBICK: He is a Neon Stallion native to Hammiton, and a warrior in the King's Army. Rubick befriends Waverly after he is almost bullied by a smug lion. He is also a strong supporter of Waverly's.

ANANIM: He is a large Hammitonian lion who gets off on the wrong foot with Waverly on their first meeting in an attempt to bully her after she speaks out on his rashness toward a Dwarf. It is on Ananim that Waverly practices woolgather for the first time – infusing his mind with fearful yet realistic events. Ananim develops respect and courtesy toward Waverly after hearing of her involvement with Gruggun and how she defeated the mountain giant.

NIANA: First introduced in the second book, Niana is a purebred Nixie, a direct servant to the Elemental Godhead, Lord Gayl, and a helpful friend to Waverly. She interrupts a fishing trip by taking Waverly underwater to return a missing stone on the latter's bracelet. Her reason for doing this is unknown. This is the only event where Niana is mentioned and seen in the story.

LEVI: He is a sly Fire Mortal, who reveals himself to be the son of Hekate, the most powerful Nysan goddess after Nys herself. He is a mole in the King's Army whose task is to leak vital information to the Dark Army. He develops an unnatural attraction towards Waverly and tries to convince her to join the Emperor of Chaos whilst also revealing many secrets about the Elves to her. Levi is portrayed to know a lot of things, including Waverly's hidden identity as a god's blood. He is killed by a tiger during a one-on-one combat with Waverly in the forest. This conflict allows the latter discover her resilience to magic.

ANDEI AND LAGUNA: They are the late parents of Dermot and Diarmaid. As told by Dermot, both were killed when he and his brother were mere boys; his mother at the hands of a god's blood, and his father from a heart attack over losing his wife. Laguna is considered to be the more prominent of the couple, having been a famous huntress and the first local Elfin to come in contact and dine with the Queen of Crysoton. Waverly is given Laguna's personal hunting cloak by Diarmaid on the request of Dermot, who was its previous keeper.

LUNA: She is the goddess of the eclipse and Selene's firstborn. She appears to Waverly in the latter's bedroom to convince her to let go of her feelings for Brijjet as it is only a distraction. She also encourages Waverly to fully embrace her powers and presents a rare flower that would heal the Elf princess's blindness. Luna displays a form of Plecteri when she flawlessly imitates her mother's voice. She reveals that even without her father, Waverly would still have been born. This indicates that the gods can procreate all by themselves. Luna is shown to instantly warm up to Waverly and only appears once in the story.

ZARA: She is a handmaiden to Princess Aurora responsible for submonishing that the plant Waverly presents as a wedding gift could heal the blindness in the princess's eyes. It is hinted that she is a close friend of the princess as Aurora easily heeds her advice.

MERULA: She is an officer in Waverly's camp axis. She riles up downcast soldiers after they hear Waverly's dreadful encounter with Oculmus and charges them to prepare for battle. She is one of those who support Waverly.

GENERAL PRIAM: He is leader of the King's Generals and grandfather to Phyllis. Priam takes an easy liking to Waverly and heeds her opinions. Before the plan of sending woolgather to the Dark Army is executed, he is first consulted and agrees without hesitation. He is a wise and reticent Snow Elf married to a seamstress of the Royal Household named Dhalia, Phyllis's grandmother.

BLAUREN: He is a Derew, the spirit of wisteria, and a member of The Nature Council. Together with Loni, he charges Cassiope with befriending Waverly. He is responsible for teaching Waverly the history of the Stones of Nature. He encourages her to regrow a cursed forest which she does successfully.

LONI: She is a soft-spoken and kind Derew, the spirit of the honeysuckle, and a member of The Nature Council. She is responsible for tutoring Waverly on the use of the Stones and how to grow plants from sheer will. She nicknames Waverly "of the moon and stars".

KING LAMETH: He is the unpredictable King of Veston, who travels to render military aid to the Elves. He is respected and feared mostly for his ability to detect negativity and malice through the mind. This is proven when he senses jealousy in Waverly and painfully shuts down her mind. Lameth is hinted to be familiar with the goddess Juniper after she arrives to warn the Elf King concerning the war. He is a skilled warrior and partakes in a larger part of the battle, but is killed by Oculmus through Judson after the Godhead seizes the mark of Vesta inside him.

LORD CACCAS: He is the King of Hammiton and an ally to the Elves. He is rumored to be a powerful warrior, but is never really portrayed as doing battle. Caccas does not speak at all in the story.

PRINCESS LUANDA: She is introduced in the  story. Luanda is the Elven daughter of the Human King, Asherah of Bremeton. She travels to Alpgeton as an ambassador to represent her father. She is supposedly in command of the Human Army. At the end of the story, Waverly asks her to plead with the Elf King for Judson's sake, but Luanda confesses that she is powerless to do so in the land of the Elves.

THE LADY MADDEI: She is the noble Queen of Crysoton. After the war, she visits Alpgeton with a few of her people to help with rebuilding the realm – an instruction she reveals was given by Juniper herself. In the second book, she was hinted to have sent a Crysotoni watcher named FluffPick to the village of RenderMore in Bremeton eighty years before Waverly's birth to await her arrival to rescue the townsfolk from the hands of a terrorist giant. Although she sends the watcher too early, he patiently waits for the appointed hero. The Queen is portrayed to be well aware of Waverly and Judson's travels and commends them for their show of strength and resilience. She provides them with a new map to continue their interrupted quest and beseeches the Elf King to give them supplies.

FLUFFPICK: He is a Crysotoni watcher who first met Waverly in the second book. With his help and that of the townsfolk, Waverly was able to vanquish a mountain giant that had been terrorizing the people for centuries. FluffPick reveals he was sent to wait for Waverly to arrive the village eighty years back, indicating that time in Crysoton is incredibly fast. FluffPick takes his original minute form in Waverly's presence, allowing her to possess crystals that solidify from FluffPick's energy and become magical spheres. These spheres act as shew stones and intensify Waverly's dreams during confinement. Whilst facing trial in Alpgeton, she claims to have seen Lizzeth's tragedy through these stones and to have gotten them from Gypsies in a bid to conceal her identity as a moon spawn. FluffPick appears at the end of book three with his Queen and people and wishes Waverly good luck on her next travels.

REVVI: She is a mysterious Crysotoni seer, who recites the old prophecy to Waverly and Judson. She is mentioned in the second book by FluffPick as the one who foretells Waverly's victory against the mountain giant, Gruggun. She is portrayed to know many things no matter how trifle they are. This is shown when she easily discloses Waverly's habit of losing important items after the latter was handed a golden map.
