Chaos XI

"Order, Chaos, A-Team. We've received some news, and it's not good." Leader of the B-Team, Caleb Allen greeted us solemnly. My breath hitched in the back of my throat, and I quickly caught Order's gaze.

Not good.

"Caleb, what happened." I said, afraid that my voice would crack and reveal my fear. If the leaders were afraid, the squads and teams wouldn't have someone to depend on, they would also be fearful, and our forces would weaken.

"Chaos, there were a few survivors, but they sent an urgent message." Caleb started hesitantly, as if he didn't want to repeat what he'd heard.

"What do you mean, were?" I said anxiously, and at Order's slight glare, I calmed my tone and spoke again. "Sorry, go on."

"I was in the middle of speaking with Sonya Burns, a citizen, rank 3, when she was promptly slaughtered. She and the few others that survive the onslaught were dispatched of, and I'm afraid to say that the Darklings now rule your territory." He said apologetically. Order inhaled sharply, and my nails were digging into my palms, my fists tightly clenched.

"We have to go, now." I said angrily, and Order's head whipped around to face me.

"No, Chaos, we need to think this through, to plan. We're going to need more forces, we can't handle an entire flock of Darklings on our own, especially if they've taken over the entire planet. We can't split up to cover more ground, they attack in large numbers. We'd be dead before we unsheathed out swords. We need help. Help from the other squads. Help from the campers." She said sternly, and I exhaled loudly.

"Order, I-"

"No, Chaos, there is no arguing to this, and so help me if you try to go alone, ahead of everyone else. I know you're worried about your planet, and you still want to check and see if there are any survivors whatsoever, but you don't stand a chance alone." Order cut me off, and Gwen nodded besides her.

"She's right, Chaos. You can't blindly run into this one." She agreed. I barely payed both of the women any attention, my mind was racing. I had to go now, couldn't they see that? My people were dead, if not dying, what kind of a ruler was I if I ensured that they would all die before I got there to help them? We had to act now, someone could stay behind and rally more forces, but I had to help, even if there was no chance of any survivors. Besides, the campers couldn't even fight, we didn't have enough titánio for them all to have weapons. They would be defenseless.

"Chaos!" Beckendorf warned, his eyes narrowed. "I know what you're thinking, don't do it. I can make more weapons, Leo can help me. I can summon the metal, we can get at least 100 more done-"

"It's not enough! We have to go now. There's still a small chance that there could be survivors, what kind of leaders are we! We are letting our people die. I don't care if you don't support me, I'm going now! Someone can stay behind and gather more forces, but we have to act now!" I yelled, and Order's expression was fearful.

"Chaos, no!" She screeched, just as I flashed out, the familiar feeling of my body separating into a million particles overtaking me, and I raced through space.

In seconds, I reformed, already clutching Desolation. The hilt fit my hand even better then the hilt of Riptide, if that was even possible. With a snap of my fingers, I was coated with armor. I scanned the now barren land with superhuman sight and hearing, and when I sensed nothing, I began to creep forward.

There was no sign that anything had ever lived here, the houses were burned down to ashes, the sky grey. Pain flooded my system as I walked down the empty streets of multiple villages, all reduced to nothing.

There were no Darklings in sight, and my senses were in overdrive, ready for anything. I had a feeling that their base would be located in the castle, and I slowly made my way towards it, flashing silently, trying to conceal my presence.

I made my way through the every village, gagging at the sights of a few mauled bodies that hadn't been burned away. My people. They were all dead. Guilt crashed down on me, and the world spun. Order was going to kill me if I survived. But at the rate I was at, with no Darklings in sight, I was safe. For now.

I reached the castle steps, shinning with the light of titánio. I concealed myself in the shadows, something Bianca had helped me to master. Her powers with shadows weren't quite as strong as Nico's, but he in turn was no match to her summoning abilities. She could raise walls, the dead, she specialized in that. One touch from her, and the undead were once again dead. She and Nico were both incredible powerful, and like how Nico and Hazel's powers were stronger in different areas, Bianca and Nico were the same.

I spotted the two sentries at once, poorly hidden in the brilliant shimmer of the titánio. Crouching down, I formulated a quick plan of attack.

Kill.
Kill.
Kill.

Flawless.

Springing forward, I landed on the back of one, and slit it's throat soundlessly. Before the other could notice what I had done, it's head was rolling down the steps, and it quickly was reduced to dust.

"Let's get this party started." I murmured, and entered the castle.

Camouflaging with my surroundings, I made it inside unnoticed, it was swarming with the beasts. Upon scanning the entire castle, they were located everywhere, taking up all of the available space. In the throne room, however, rested the leader.

I decided make my way there, slowly but surely disposing of any Darkling who came in my way. Soon, the entrance hall was empty, and nobody has been alerted, I'd dispatched of the messengers. My armor was scratched, but I hadn't taken a direct hit yet, thankfully. If I had, I'd be dead.

Quickly conquering up a shield to prevent unseen attacks, I glided out of the hall, and began the trek down to the throne room, located in he heart of the castle.

I approached a group of Darklings, currently unaware that I was there. With a single slice, the one that lingered behind the rest of the group was dead, dissolving into thick dust.

I hadn't been as quiet as I had hoped to be, and two of the pack turned to face me, growling. They had alerted the others, and I backed up slowly, until I hit a wall, realizing to late that I was cornered.

With a growl, I snapped, launching myself forwards and slicing through T he first two, Desolation cutting through them like butter. I jumped and roundhouse kicked one in the chest, sending it flying into five others, and I was strangely reminded of bowling pins.

Focusing on more pressing matters, I reached into my pocket and pulled out Riptide, deciding to wield both swords at the same time. My old sword was now coated with titánio, and I began my assault.

The wails of the Darklings made my ears want to bleed, and I tried to block it out with no success. I summersaulted under two, and slashed at their vulnerable under bellies quickly, killing them.

There were about three left, and I advanced, my eyes flashing intimidatingly. They growled and hissed as I approached, barring their crooked, black teeth and claws.

With a snarl, the one in the middle shot forward, and I was momentarily caught off guard by the sudden attack. Mentally scolding myself, I barely blocked it's vicious attack. I feinted a kick, and as it dived to avoid it, it left its stomach uncovered, and I ran the monster through with my blade.

One down, two to go.
