Chaos I
"Lord Chaos, Lady Order has requested your presence." Gwen, Commander of the Army, spoke. Her bright purple hair was cut short, and her violet eyes twinkled. She was a pixie, and unlike popular beliefs, they were one of the strongest and most intelligent warriors in the universe. I nodded.
"Thank you, Gwen. And please, just Chaos. I'm a year younger then you, at least, and there are no ranks here, besides minor ones that we must have, such as commander, but we are all equals." I said, and she grinned at me.
I stood up from my desk littered in papers and maps, and walked out of the room, Gwen by my side.
"So, any updates on Luke's condition? Bianca informed me earlier that he was getting better, but still had a terrible fever." I said worriedly as we walked down the long hall.
"Yes, Chaos. Luke's fever is down and Calypso is only going to hold him in the hospital for one more day, at least. She and Leo are with him now, I believe."
"Glad to hear it. I'll stop by to visit him in a second, after I'm done with Order. How is Ethan?" I asked. Gwen blushed blue at her husband's name.
"He's fine. Those monsters really took at lot out of him, but Caly patched him up in about two seconds. He's resting. Everyone else seems to be okay. That attack really shocked us though. I'm working on the base repairs and a new defense system with Leo." Gwen explained. I nodded.
We'd reached the door to Order's office, and Gwen excused herself as she walked off. Opening the door silently, I saw my girlfriend working hard, typing furiously into a computer. Her blonde hair was pulled back into its usual messy ponytail, and her grey eyes shinned brightly.
Sneaking up behind her, I watched as she crumpled up a piece of paper, and brutally threw it across the room and into the trash bin without looking. I chuckled, startling her.
"What did that paper ever do to you?" I asked teasingly, hugging her from behind. She relaxed.
"It was a letter from Olympus. They need our help." Order said wearily. I ran my hands through my messy Raven black hair.
"Have you responded? Do they know who we are? Who we were?" I said nervously. Order smiled, increasing my nervousness.
"Of course I said yes!" She chirped. My eyes narrowed instantly.
"You're lying." I accused.
She rolled her eyes. "No! I just rendered how you told me that the Olympians were your favorite people!" She said, attempting to mock my use of sarcasm.
"Woah, woah, woah. Stop right there, Wise Girl. Sarcasm is my thing. You're the brains here." I said, shaking my head in mock disapproval. She laughed, a beautiful sound slicing through the air.
"Shut up, Seaweed Brain." She said teasingly, and stood up, standing on her tip toes to peck me on the cheek.
I have her a look of mock hurt, and extended my arm to her. "Shall we, M'Lady?" I said jokingly. She giggled and obliged, placing her arm above mine and walking out of the room by my side.
We turned down the Hall, and as if reading my mind, Order confirmed our destination.
"We going to visit Castellan?" Order piped up. I nodded.
"Yeah. Gwen said he's doing a lot better, and Leo and Caly are there now." I replied, turned left and throwing open the doors of our private hospital.
I saw Bianca waiting anxiously outside one of the doors, so I immediately steered towards her.
Bianca smiled wearily as she saw us approach.
"Chaos, Order." Her dark hair was loose over her shoulder, and her olive toned skin looked like it hadn't seen sun for a couple of days.
"Bianca, you need to rest." I said at once, pointing to the obvious circles below her eyes. She chuckled.
"I know. I just can't stop worrying about him. I love him, you know." She said weakly. I nodded in understanding.
"Of course. He's your boyfriend, soon to be husband. I'd be worried too, if I were you. But Luke wouldn't want you to fussing over him and putting yourself in a poor state. Of course he'd be touched, but he cares a lot about you, and frankly, you need to get some sleep and sunshine." I said. Order nodded.
"Yes, Chaos is right. You still need to recover from the attack, and Luke isn't going anywhere. Calypso will take care of him, and he should be out soon. You should be in prime condition to meet him." Order added on.
Bianca nodded. "I guess you're right. Thanks Order, Chaos." She said, and walked out, hopeful to get some sleep.
I reached for the door handle and slowly turned it, silently making my way inside the room. I saw Calypso leaning over someone in bed, and Leo carefully watching certain monitors.
"Oh hey! Chaos!" Leo greeted, looking up. He wiped the sweat from his brow and walked over to greet us.
"Leo. How is he?" I asked nervously. Leo grinned.
"A lot better. Calypso is about to take out the stitches." Leo explained. Order seemed a little relieved.
Five days ago, my A-Team had gotten ambushed on their way back from an important political mission, and had narrowly escaped. They were bringing back important leaders of some plants to discuss issues with myself and Order, when they were attacked by Darklings. Gwen, Luke, and Ethan had fought them head on, Zoë, Michael, Lee and Bianca providing cover fire. Calypso and Silena had gotten the leaders to safety, while Leo worked to repair damages to their vessel, Charles helping. I'd been on a mission of my own, and Order was preoccupied, so we couldn't help them. Ethan was stabbed in the arm, and Gwen dragged him to Calypso for healing. Luke had held them off on his own for a while, but was stabbed through his side, the blade going through his entire body.
It was then that Order could help out, and she had immediately teleported the team away, and was able to save Luke from immediate death. Since then, he'd been in the hospital, Calypso never leaving his side and she worked furiously to heal him.
Luke groaned in his sleep as Calypso tore out his stitches, one by one, her hands glowing gold.
Each member of the A-Team had been blessed partially by Death and Life before they completely faded, receiving an unique power.
Calypso had gotten the ability to heal any injury, and she recently was using it a lot.
Leo could crack any code, solve any mechanical mystery, and he also had control over anything hot, specifically lava, had been added to his firepower.
Charles was able to forge any weapon, and control all metals.
Silena could change anyone's appearance, and summon any winged creature to aid her in battle or any situation.
Zoë could camouflage into any surrounding, and didn't have to use a bow to fire arrows. She was almost telepathic.
Bianca could summon water from the rivers of the underworld, as well as give out curses or decide when someone would die.
Luke had super speed and the ability to read minds, he could control or twist thoughts, and see what the enemy was planning. If he was sparring with you, he knew your next move before you did.
Gwen could summon any power, give it or use it, and occasionally permanently take someone's power away from them. She wouldn't be able to keep it forever, but they would never have that power again. It drained her so much though, that she could only use it once every year.
Ethan could fight with any weapon, and when he wanted revenge or if he wanted someone to suffer, he'd get it.
Michael was able to summon any type of arrow, and never missed his target.
Lee could sing someone to death, and could predict the future.
Order and I had all of the powers of the universe, all of the powers of the primordials and Olympians, the powers of Life and Death themselves. However, we needed blocks on out powers so that they couldn't corrupt us to go haywire, and the latter had happened once or twice. It wasn't pretty.
Let's just say that we were the cause of multiple explosions.
Luke groaned again, jerking my attention back to him. Calypso's caramel colored hair was sticking to her forehead as she struggled to maintain a constant rate of power flowing into Luke.
"Here. Let me help." I offered, having some power over healing. Caly looked relieved.
"Thank you so much, Chaos. Over here." She said, looking towards the spot right over Luke's heart.
I nodded and focused on my energy, summoning my power. As my hands began to glow, I firmly placed them down on Luke's chest, and I could feel his heartbeat clearly.
Orders grey eyes held worry, and I knew she was scared for her 'older brother's' life. I was too. But I knew he would make it.
"Almost done." Calypso grunted, her voice strained with effort.
I nodded and watched as Luke's eyes fluttered open, and he smiled.
"Hey Chaos. What's up?" My best friend grinned. I laughed.
"Seriously Luke? On the brink of death and the first thing you start is 'what's up'?" I smiled. He chuckled.
"Yep. I feel great. Thanks, Caly." Luke said. Caly nodded, and stepped back, removing her hands from the place on his chest where the stitches once were. I did the same.
Luke tried to sit up, and Leo immediately tackled him back down to the bed. "Nope! Castellan you are not going anywhere. Not yet!" He reprimanded.
Luke rolled his eyes. "I get the point, Valdez. Now get off of me."
Leo obliged, and got off of Luke. Order frowned.
"What is it, Wise Girl?" I asked, confused. Her frowned deepened.
"Do you hear it? The prayer." She said. I concentrated, and then heard it.
Lord Chaos. Lady Order. Please help us. Our children are dying. Creatures of the dark, like nothing we've ever seen before. Nothing we have can destroy them. Please.
"Yeah. Is that....the Olympians?" I asked. She nodded.
Leo, Calypso, and Luke were all watching us with confused faces.
"This is worse then the letter described. Chaos, we might have to go ba-" Order started but I cut her off.
"No. We can't, Order, once they knew who we were, who we are, they'd kill us. They wouldn't want us there." I said furiously. Order gave me a look that said: are-you-freaking-kidding-me?
"Chaos, if we don't go, they die. Thousands of innocent lives. Mortals too. Besides, there are some people there who didn't betray you." She pleaded. I sighed.
"I know. I know. I know we have to go back. I knew we would have to eventually. I just didn't want it to be so soon. He will still be there." I said softly. Order hugged me tightly, and Leo walked over and gave me a pat on the back.
"We can do it. Together, just like old times, Seaweed Brain." Order said.
"Okay." I said. Then I paused.
"Together."
