Chapter 10: Genevieve Spend Time with Elisa in Detention
"Why do I have detention, Mr. Deley?" Genevieve hissed, clutching a pink slip of paper in her hands. "Because I showed the class a different method of solving the problem? You can't give me detention for that!"
"I gave you detention for disrupting the class, Miss Gothel," sighed Mr. Deley.
"I've always raised my hand to speak, and it usually occurred when you finished speaking to the class as a whole," debated Genevieve. "I'm not causing trouble for your chemistry class!"
"You're a good student, Miss Gothel, one of the best and brightest minds I've seen since Evie Queen," admitted Mr. Deley. "But you need to learn when it is the right time to talk."
Genevieve's face heated up in anger, and she resisted the urge to toss the slip into the trash can. She'd tell Hazel and Hubert about the unfairness of this whole mess, and they'd locate a way to help her out. For now, she'd have to just suck it up, go to detention, and get it over with. Her footsteps bounced off the walls as she stomped down the hallways. This whole situation was fucking wrong! She hadn't done anything remotely wicked! He couldn't give her detention because she spoke up when he hadn't been talking. It's not like she had been speaking when he had been. All she had been doing was pointing out easier ways to obtain answers to the chemistry problems they worked on.
Hazel was levitating a bottle of water with her wand when Genevieve entered their dorm room. The blonde could sense the frustration surrounding her aura, but she knew Genevieve needed to blow up first before she discussed her issues rationally. Genevieve took a cleansing breath before she uttered, "Mr. Deley gave me detention for speaking too much in chemistry."
"That's unfair," stated Hazel immediately, taking a sip of water. "Do you want me to go to Jane about this?"
"That would help, Haze, and you can get Hubert into this situation if you want. But all I can do is suck it up and get detention over with." Genevieve sighed, flopping onto her bed. "This soured my mood. Please tell me you have some good news."
"Well, I'm captain of the R.O.A.R. team," admitted Hazel. She'd kept her role as the captain on the downlow because she did not wish to be bullied by any envious or jealous male students. "Hubert is one of the men on the team, but Mal aided me with becoming captain."
"Why did Mal have to help you?" Genevieve asked.
"Because ... because ..." stammered Hazel, unsure of how to word her response in a way that would result in a calm, thoughtful reaction.
"Because Kristoff spouted some sexist bullshit," spat Hubert, entering the girls' dorm room.
"First, we could've been changing, Hubert, which means you knock on our door from now on. Second, what?!" Genevieve near-shouted, sitting up rapidly. Ignoring the head rush, she stood up, placing her hands on her hips.
Hazel's concentration broke with the raised voices, causing her to drop her water bottle. Thank heavens it had been closed or water would've gone everywhere. "Guys, can we not talk about this? Please?" she begged her friends.
Hubert and Genevieve sighed reluctantly, accepting Hazel's request. They loved her, they really did, but sometimes her nature of "deal with it, repress it, and move on" sometimes prevented her from learning a lesson from the situation. This was emotional blockage, and if she kept this up, there were disastrous consequences. Hazel picked up her bottle, taking a sip. Hubert plopped onto the ground, leaning his head against Genevieve's bed frame. Genevieve exhaled deeply, mentally preparing herself for detention.

Elisa Frost banged her head against her desk softly, wanting to run out of Merryweather's classroom. Merryweather's detentions involved students baking cakes for an hour. Elisa loathed detention with Merryweather. Although her baking skills grew better with time, her mother always seemed to be in a foul mood every time she received a call from Jane. Gods, Elisa's mother always lectured her about her troublemaking:
"Elisa Frost, you cannot keep doing this! I understand that what Elsie is doing is harming your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, but letting this affect your academic performance ... it's hard enough for me to make you understand that the entire Queen family isn't evil."
"Elisa Frost, listen to me! Don't walk away from me!"
"Elisa!"
Gods, every single lecture irritated Elisa beyond belief. And who knew how Elsa Frost, the ex-Queen of Arendelle, would react this time? She'd be the only one who would be in detention today, she knew it in her gut. The door opened once more, and ... Genevieve?
"Ms. Gothel," stated Merryweather, clearly stunned.
"Mr. Deley gave me detention for speaking too much in chemistry," growled Genevieve, handing Merryweather the detention slip.
"I apologize. I'm certain you raised your hand every time," sighed Merryweather.
"I did, but he still punished me." Genevieve plopped herself into the seat beside Elisa.
"Well, let's get this over with so you girls can get your homework done." Merryweather handed them a recipe titled "three-layer chocolate ganache cake". "You have to complete this recipe. I am not giving you a timer, but complete it by 4:00 p.m., girls."
"Yes, ma'am," groaned Elisa.
Genevieve nodded, pulling out everything they needed to begin baking. Merryweather walked to her desk, pulling out a cookbook. Elisa narrowed her eyes at the teacher, reluctantly doing what Genevieve said.
"Okay, could you start working on the filling? I'll work on the cakes." Genevieve mixed the flour, sugar, cocoa, and baking soda. She then added mayonnaise, coffee, and vanilla.
Elisa combined sugar and cornstarch in a small heavy saucepan. For an hour, they worked on the cake, making sure they completed every step precisely. By 4:00 p.m., they had finished the cake and slid it into a refrigerator to chill.
"Good job, girls. This cake will be perfect for the staff meeting this weekend. Ms. Gothel, I hope to never see you in detention again. Ms. Frost, never find ways to earn detention again. Please," stated Merryweather.
Genevieve and Elisa exited the classroom, carrying their backpacks. Genevieve sent a tiny grin Elisa's way, and Elisa returned the smile. In a way, they had become friends. They bonded over baking and (who would've guessed?) detention.
