The Legend Of The Newt
Once there was a small village a top a very tall, lush hill surrounded by a wood. One evening a tiny newt, with briming emerald eyes, drifted into the town upon a small stream. When the town's people found the newt in the morning, she asked the good people for shelter, Her logic being that a newt of such small stature could not stand a chance in the dangerous wood surrounding the village. Luckily the people of this town were kind and allowed The Newt to stay in the village.
The people constructed a small hut for The Newt. The crafters made tiny furniture, the seamstresses made little blankets and clothes, The bakers began to decorate small loaves of bread with cricket legs and spiders' eyes. All this was for The Newt, and she was extremely grateful.
After a month or two a small child died. He was already very ill and had a few extreme bodily issues, so his family expected as much, although they were still quite upset. At the funeral The Newt (looking slightly taller than usual) came and gave the family a present, A small lump of gold, about the size of the dead boy's fist. The Newt said she was "greatly sorry for their loss" and "hoped this gold would be an adequate tribute to the family."
Over the next few months more people died and when they did The Newt would always arrive at the family's funeral, always with a lump of gold for the family, always the size of the dead's fist. The newt would also grow in size well.
After a substantial amount of time a grey eyed soldier noticed The Newt's strange growth, along with her unusually plentiful supply to gold. The soldier made the intelligent observacion that the newt was the cause of all the death in his town. Heroically he confronted The Newt.
At this point this fiend was the size of a large infant, there was no doubt that she had something to do with all this death. The Newt tried to sway the soldier from the truth with lies. Fortunately, the soldier knew that The Newt was only telling him falsehoods and with a single mighty swing of his glittering sword he sliced The Newt's head clean off.
The Soldier was showered with praise and riches, he became a hero. He married a beautiful young woman and had many children who were all well respected and treated as if they were of royal blood. This is not the end of the legend though.
After many years, the grey eyed hero had become old and weak. One day as he was walking with his wife a child, with brimming emerald eyes came to him. With a truly evil smile, she sinisterly said, "I am here, for my revenge". At that moment she plunged her hand into his chest, pulled out his heart, and greedily gobbled it up. In the center of that mess of blood and flesh, was a large lump of gold. She psychotically grinned up at the terrified wife and The Newt ran away. That was not enough to kill The Soldier though. The Soldier still lived, though it was pain, with his last bit of strength he told his wife the souls of the dead could not rest until The Newt was dead. He said he would cast a blessing upon his family. So that when his wife gave birth to their next child, the child will have grey eyes and will be destined to kill The Newt's reincarnation. With those final words his shut his eyes for good.
When The Soldier's wife had given birth to her next child, the child did in fact have grey eyes. She told him about his father and the child's destiny to kill The Newt.
After many years the child did eventually kill The Newt's Reincarnation. Ever since then 2 children were born in that village. One with emerald green eyes, destined to bring terror and destruction and one with misty grey eyes, destined to bring The Newt's end.
