The Luke & Leia Moment Part 2
After liberally applying cold water and club soda, the stains on Jeff and Katie's clothes were reduced to the point of being barely noticeable. What was clearly noticeable was the extremely weird vibe they felt when they walk into the banquet room and see that all conversation comes to a sudden halt. They can feel every pair of eyes on them as they make their way back to their table.
"What is going on?" Katie whispers to Jeff.
"Didn't I tell you! They see a beautiful young woman with a 40-year-old guy and they have to judge."
"Really? You think so?"
"Trust me. The age difference - that's exactly what it is. They wanna judge us? Let's give them what they want." As they reach the table, Jeff sits down on the chair and pulls Katie down so she's sitting on his lap. He pulls her in close to him and gives her the deepest, most passionate kiss imaginable. Involuntarily people around them start gasping and wincing. Jeff separates from the kiss just long enough to respond to the crowd. "That's right. That's how I roll."

Niko comes into the room with a new spring in his step. He practically bounces all the way up to where Ashley is sitting at the head table. "I just popped by to tell you I'm going to win that bet."
"How? Did you just finish reading Winning Bets the Roman Polanski Way?"
"The bet was a member of the bridal party. There's one member of the bridal party who's an adult." Niko looks down the table at Hilary who is laughing and waving at one of the guests.
Ashley gives him a dismissive wave of her hand. "Oh please! You don't have a snowball's chance in hell."
"I'm gonna pull off the bride heist," Niko says defiantly.
"The bride heist!?! It can't be done."
"You better hope not."
"Who do you think you are? Some kind of dashing late 60's Sean Connery who can seduce any woman he sets his eyes on?"
Niko smiles as he waves to Hilary. "Well if I am, then you know what that makes her."
"Miss Moneypenny?"
Niko puts on his best Sean Connery impression "Pussy Galore."

Jeff arrives at the table with fresh drinks. He gives one to Katie who gives him an appreciative kiss when he sits down. "You take such good care of me."
Louie sees an opening he cannot resist "Hey, who's your daddy, right?" Katie laughs. "No seriously, who is your daddy?" Louie says in a more serious tone.
Maddie jumps in to try to ease the awkwardness. "We'd love to hear about your parents."
"Well, I never knew my father. My Mom got pregnant right out of high school and she moved away and raised me all by herself. She said she'd tell me about my father anytime I wanted to know but I figured if he didn't care enough to stay, I don't care enough to learn anything about him. Besides, I've never had a pressing reason to find out who he is."
"I can think of one," Louie blurts out almost involuntarily.

At a quiet moment in the reception, Hilary, is catching a breath of fresh air by herself on the balcony.
"You're not looking for an escape route are you?"
Hilary turns around and beams when she sees Niko approach.
"Niko, I'm so glad you could come. I wasn't sure you would."
"Why? Because of our..."
"...past? Yeah. I mean it was only a weekend," she says
"But it was a pretty amazing weekend was it not?"
Hilary smiles but figures it best to change the subject. "So when are you going to find a girl and settle down?"
"As soon as I'm as lucky as you are and find 'the one'."
"I'm not so sure I believe in "the one" anymore."
"Really? You never had an idea of that one person you've always dreamed of marrying? That person who made you want to carve your initials together in a tree? That's too bad. I think every bride deserves the experience of being with her dream man on her wedding night." Niko pauses and looks deep into her eyes. "Don't you?"
*********************
Jeff and Katie hold hands and stare adoringly in each others eyes. A woman walks by the table and as she passes by... "You should be ashamed!"
Jeff looks up in shock and disbelief. Before he can think of a response, a man walks by and adds his commentary as he passes through. "What you're doing is disgusting!"
Now Jeff has had enough. "Okay, that's it!" He stands up and starts marching up towards the front of the room. It is clear he has a bee in his bonnet now. Louie gets up and chases after him, stopping him momentarily.
"Jeff!"
"What is it Lou?"
"I need to tell you something." Louie says cautiously
"Louie, you're a dear friend who is genuinely concerned for my well being so even though I am steaming mad right now, I will listen to what you have to tell me as it must be of the utmost importance."
"...is exactly what I should have said. Unfortunately, what I actually said was..."
"Louie, I'm not in the mood for another one of your bullshit theories. And do you know why? Because I have actual real life problems. I have a whole wedding hall full of people who get vocally upset every time I am affectionate with my younger girlfriend. I'm sorry but whatever new crackpot conspiracy theory you found on the internet is just going to have to wait for another time. So unless there's something else you need to tell me, I have to get something off my chest."
Louie looks at him for a second while weighing his options. "Well then, don't let me stop you."
Jeff continues on his way as Cathy comes up to Louie.
"You wanna get a drink at the bar?" She asks?
"I think I'm gonna need one." Louie says.
Jeff marches up to the MC podium. He takes the mic out of the holster. Ashley looks alarmed. "What are you doing?"
"Standing up for myself. That's what I'm doing," Jeff says before turning his attention to addressing the entire hall. "I don't mean to interrupt the ceremonies but there's something I have to say. I've seen your disapproving looks and I've heard your snide, holier-than-thou comments and yeah, I used to be just like you. I thought there were rules that you just didn't break. Lines that were never to be crossed. But I'm not ashamed of what Katie and I are doing."
Ashley is urgently trying to get Jeff's attention but he ignores her. "And I'm glad that your world is so black-and-white that you can look at us and say this kind of relationship is "forbidden". But Katie and I have a special connection - she's my girl – and what we share is beautiful. And if "society" doesn't agree with it, well that's just too damn bad."
Jeff marches over to Katie, pulls her close and kisses her again. Everyone cringes in horror. Jeff and Katie go back to their seat. Ashley takes the microphone.
"Okay. Moving right along, next on the agenda is..." she catches herself. Surely, this can't be right. "You gotta be kidding me. Next is the father-daughter dance."
*********************
Cathy and Louie share a drink at the bar. She puts her hand on his arm. "Forgive me for being forward but do you want to come up to my suite? The walls are soundproof; nobody will be able to hear the screams."
Louie knows this is either really great or really terrible. He still can't figure out her angle or where she's going with this. "Is this something I would enjoy? Or something I may live to regret?"
"Oh I promise - you will not live to regret it."
Louie sighs as he hears this. "Boy, I really wish you had phrased that differently."
*********************
Hilary is chatting with some guests and is now standing alone watching a clearly drunk Owen whoop it up on the dance floor with his buddies and some other guests. A slow song comes on and Niko approaches Hilary and extends his hand. "My night won't be complete unless I have at least one dance with the beautiful bride.
She takes his hand and they go out on the dance floor. Niko sees Owen acting up some more. He's coming across like a Class-A jackass who's at a frat house kegger rather than at his own wedding.
"He's having a good time," Niko whispers to Hilary.
"He always does," she sighs.
"Do I detect disapproval in that tone?"
"I know it's a party but it's also our wedding. He's going to pass out the moment he hits our bed. I'm not even going to make love on my wedding night."
Niko pulls away from her so he can look into her eyes. "You know. It doesn't have to be that way." She says nothing but there is also nothing in her body language that suggests she is shutting this down immediately. "I'm sure you will be a model wife, taking care of all his needs and concerns for the rest of your lives. But tonight...this is your night. Tonight you should have everything you've ever dreamed of. Not the least of which is making mad passionate love on your wedding night. Don't say anything right now. But later, you know where to find me."
She hesitates, opening her mouth to form an answer without actually saying anything.
*********************
Jeff and Katie sit at their table and Jeff looks like he's upset. "I shouldn't have said all that."
"I thought it was sweet."
"No, I should apologize to Hilary." With that, Jeff goes over and finds Hilary at a table just off the dance floor. As Jeff approaches her, he passes Ashley who is standing close by.
"What are you doing?" Ashley hisses.
"I want to say something to Hilary."
"Jeff, I really don't think you should."
Jeff ignores her and walks up to Hilary who's seated at the table. Ashley follows right behind him.
"Hi. I just wanted to apologize for the big scene I created before. I know that this is your big day and the last thing I wanted to do was make it about me and my issues. I still don't get it why everybody had to make a big deal out of my love life..."
Ashley cannot listen to this any longer. "Oh for God's sakes! Everyone thinks Katie is your daughter."
Jeff continues his apology to Hilary. It's as if his brain is simply unable to process what he just heard. "I'm really embarrassed now. Honestly, I can't..." He stops mid-sentence. He finally takes in what he just heard. "What was that?"
"Katie's mom is Tracey, your old high school girlfriend. There's a decent chance you're dating your biological daughter."
Jeff is suddenly uneasy on his feet. He reaches out for the nearest chair to stabilize himself. "Oh God!"
"If it makes you feel any better, nobody cares that you're twice her age."
"Oh, I think I'm gonna be sick!"
"Yeah, I thought it was a longshot."
