Clementine POV

  I was in me and AJ's new room tucking him in so he could sleep while I went to meet Minerva. He was very reluctant to sleep on the bed, saying that the floor under the bed was safer than the bed but I eventually convinced him that the bed was a lot more comfortable.

  I waited for his breathing to even out, letting me know he was asleep before sneaking out of the room. I made sure to be quiet as I left the dorms and to listen for anyone that might be awake. Once outside of the doors I saw someone on the watchtower. Looked like it was Willy.

  I made a plan to distract him so I could hop the wall. Opening the gate would be to noisy and would let him know someone had pushed on them. I found a brick before looking for a way to jump the wall. I noticed I could climb a picnic table and jump up onto the wall that way but I had to be quick, the table was pretty close to the watchtower.

  Taking a deep breathe I began to execute my plan. I threw the brick over the wall on the opposite side I was climbing making Willy jump and point his bow in that direction. Not wasting any time I hopped the wall pretty easily thanks to the adrenaline. I quickly but quietly ran to the tree line, and out of Willy's sight.

  I hid behind a tree for a while until Willy shrugged and put the bow and arrow down. I sighed before moving farther into the forest. After a while of walking I heard the faint sound of rushing water, telling me I was close to the river. Following the sound I came across not only the river but a small shack and bridge.

  I noticed a figure on a rock by the river's edge a hand in the river. I held my breathe when they suddenly turned to look at me, only releasing it when Minnie's face was shown in the moonlight. She looked sad, but a smile replaced her frown when she saw me.

  She got up and made her way over to me. 'How the fuck is she so tall?' She was soon standing right in front of me. She was about to speak when we heard a twig break somewhere in the woods. Her eyes narrowed in the direction of the sound. "C'mon we can talk in the shack, might be walkers around."

  We went over to the shack making sure to keep an eye on the trees and our surroundings. I closed the door behind me and looked over to find her staring at a spot on the wall. A heart with an arrow and a V+M in the middle. She sighed, she didn't turn around to face me when she started talking.

  "It's weird Clem. I used to feel so strongly for her, even when just hearing her name I would get happy. Now though I just feel guilty, like I've betrayed her for not feeling that way anymore." I didn't know what to say. I had never really felt for someone like the way I do her, so I had no idea what it was like to lose feelings for someone.

  "But I don't want to feel guilty for my feelings for you." Her voice was lower than normal, like I wasn't supposed to hear it but I did. I placed a hand on her shoulder, she turned to look at me, letting the moonlight illuminate her face and I saw she had tears in her eyes. Cupping her cheeks in my hand I started talking, before I could think of what to say.

  "Minnie I'm not going to lie to you and tell you I know what your feeling because I don't. I've never felt like this for someone else before, but I think I understand what to do for you to feel better." She placed a hand over mine that was still on her cheek. "You need to talk to her Minnie. You can do it in your own time, but I don't want you to put it off forever to the point where it's wearing you down."

  A tear escaped her left eye as she looked into my eyes. I wiped it away as she started talking. "But what if these feelings go away too. I don't want to hurt you like that, ever." More tears fell from her eyes than I could wipe so I ran a hand through her hair and kept a hand on her cheek.

  "Minnie I could never be mad at you if you did. You deserve to be happy no matter who your with, please don't let your fears stop you from being happy. Promise me you will do that?" She leaned into my hand on her cheek as my hand was still running through her short hair. With a watery smile she whispered, "I promise."

  "Then that's enough for me Minnie." Her tears stopped for the most part but I never pulled my hand away. She released a deep sigh before she grabbed my hands and intertwined them with hers, leaning down to place her forehead against mine. We stayed like that for a while then I heard the sound of rain hitting the shack.

  "Damn that's gonna be a pain to get through." She murmured, her breath tickling my lips. A smile was on my face when I remembered AJ's request. Letting go of her hands and taking a step back, she made a noise of protest. I held out the folded paper to her with a no doubt dopey grin on my face.

  "It's from AJ, he wanted me to give it to you." A smile replaced her confused frown as she took the paper and unfolded it. Her smile grew when she saw it was a drawing of me and AJ with a small message scribbled out on the bottom. 'So you don't get lonely without us'

  She slowly folded it and placed it in her back pocket before she grabbed the collar of my jacket and pulled me in for a kiss. It was a fast kiss but as soon as it was over another started, we stayed like that for what felt like hours. My arms around her waist, holding her close, and her arms around my neck with a hand in my hair as we shared kiss after kiss.

   Thud. We broke apart at the sound. At first I thought it might have been a walker but if I listened closely I could hear light whispering over the rain. I could tell Minnie heard it too when she took on a defensive stance, and pulled a small pistol from her waistband. Following her lead I took out my knife and we quietly tip toed to the door of the shack.

  Once outside we crept along the wall to the side of the shack we could hear the soft whispering coming from. Minerva was in front of me as we walked closer to the noise, the lack of moonlight giving us the advantage. She stopped on the corner of the wall and took a peek over the edge to assess our opponent. She turned back to me and held up two fingers.

  'Good only two people.' She looked at the two again before nodding to me. She was crouched up against the wall as she walked to the two people, me being right behind her. Once we were close enough she pressed the pistol to the back of the person closest to her. I stepped out from behind her and pressed my knife to the other's neck as she began speeking.

  "Who are you and why are you here?" The two were very stiff and didn't respond right away, but when one did I felt my heart drop. "We don't want any trouble." The voice was familiar and Minerva thought so too as she glanced at me, a worried expression I could tell was there even with the lack of light.

  Just then a cloud moved, allowing moonlight to reveal the familiar sounding people. Marlon and Brody, Marlon with my knife to his throat and Brody with the pistol to her head. I quickly pulled away as did Minerva, I could see the panic settle on her face as the two took in who had just threatened them. Brody looked ecstatic as I told Minnie they would, but Marlon looked scared.

  Brody jumped to hug Minnie which she returned after her panic lessened. Marlon just stared at her wide eyed before turning to me then Brody. Marlon was about to start talking but I interupted. "Lets talk inside, this rain is getting harder by the second." Marlon just nodded and followed me and Minnie into the shack, Brody trailing behind him.

  "So...", I started as we walked through the door, "How did you get here?" Brody looked at Marlon and Marlon shrugged. Brody turned back to Me and Minnie, who stayed close to my side after the hug with Brody. "Violet said she heard AJ tell you to give someone something when you met them tonight, so we decided to follow you to make sure you weren't doing anything to hurt our community, nice job sneaking out by the way we told Willy to let us know when you took off but he never said anything and your room only had AJ so we tried to track you."

  "Oh well sorry if you felt threatened by the secrecy but..." I trailed off looking at Minerva to see if she was ok and ready to tell them. She was about to speak when suddenly she was pushed back into the wall. Her head hit it hard instantly knocking her out. I raced to her to check her head for injuries only to find a small cut in the back of her head that was lightly bleeding.

  I saw red as I looked up to see Marlon looking shocked by his actions. He started babling on and on as Brody suddenly looked scared. "What the fuck did you just do?" My voice was a scary calm tone that even I was a bit afraid of. Marlon kept on babling.

  "They can't know...They won't know... They weren't supposed to ever know." I turned my angered gaze to Brody who looked like she was about to cry. When her eyes connected with mine she actually started crying and talking. "Marlon gave them away."

  Marlon stopped babling and suddenly started yelling at Brody. "Let her talk asshole." I said my voice slightly raised as I got up from my crouching position next to the unconscious Minerva. "He gave them away cause he was scared." Marlon got angrier than before.

  "Shut the fuck up Brody!" This shook Brody to her core as she shrunk into herself at the statement. Sensing her fear I walked closer to the two. "You can talk Brody." "He traded the twins away for safety from the raiders." This sent Marlon over the edge apparently as his hand went into a fist before he yelled again.

  "I said Shut the fuck up!" I didn't expect him to connect his fist to Brody's face sending her backwards into the wall opposite Minerva. I could see the instant regret make it's way onto Marlon's face as he saw crimson liquid roll down her forehead.

  "No-I-I didn't mean to-I-Brody No- I'm sor-ry so so-rry..." He kept on repeating this as I dashed forward to check Brody's injuries. She was still awake just very out of it, and a cut on her forehead. As her head lolled from one side to another I heard Marlon say something else. "They can't know..." He then sprinted out the door leaving me with the two injured females.

  "Marlon you asshole!" I yelled after him and heard him call another sorry as he got further. Turning my attention to Brody who was struggling to keep her eyes open as she reached up to touch her forehead. "That's not very good is it?" She said softly after seeing the blood on her fingers. I knew what I had to do, keep her awake and talking.

  "Brody you'll be ok, you just need to stay awake until we get back to teh school." "They won't help, Marlon will convince...them that you...that you did this...just like he con...convinced them the twins died." "They don't need to believe me they just need to help you." Brody smiled at me as she struggled to keep her head up.

  A groan was heard from the other side of the room as Minnie started to wake up. She looked around confused before her eyes landed on me and Brody. "Marlon punched her I think she might have a concussion, we need to get her to the school. I know I told you it was ok to wait but I really need your help for this." Minerva's eyes went wide as she processed what I said.

  She didn't say anything as she got up and helped me lift Brody. One arm wrapped around each of our shoulders as we high tailed it to the school which was not that far, but seemed so far when Brody stopped talking, only responding with soft grunts. "Brody please I need you to stay awake we are close I promise just a little while more."

  Brody nodded and grunted again but her eyes stayed open this time.  True to my word we arrived ate the school to find absolute chaos. Marlon had a gun pointed at AJ with Violet inbetween the two as Marlon yelled. "She killed Brody, she was meeting up with her girlfriend from the raiders who want to take us to give them information."

  We made it through the gate but all attention was still on Marlon who had pushed Violet out of the way and held AJ at gunpoint. Before I could react a gunshot rang out and I feared for the worst.

Don't hate me for doing it to you like that but I guess you'll just have to wait for the next chapter to find out who lived and who dies. But I guess it really be like that🌈🌈👌👌
