One Man's Trash...
"Areum, you need to eat. Eat now or else I won't allow you to come upstairs. It's rather cold down here, don't you think?" Haneul taunted, holding the spoon of whatever it was to her lips. She opened her mouth hesitantly, letting him feed her even if she knew it would most likely be a bad idea to accept food from him. Nevertheless, she was wasting away and if she didn't eat now, she'd have now chance to get out of here. I should've listened to Iseul when he said to run...
"There you go," I know he's laced it with something. It tastes odd. Gyeong and Dad... They've taught me what drugs look like and what they smell like... I can smell the drugs, if only a small dosage. He's feeding me drugs disguised as food.
"Why?" She asked, catching her capture's confused stare. "I know you're not Iseul. So why am I still alive?" Haneul kept staring at her for a minute before putting the bowl down, making Areum think she's seriously messed up along the way. He stayed quiet for a tense moment, then smiled.
"Simple. I love you too," He worded it like she had just said she loved him. There's no way she'd ever love him like this.
"Funny way of fuckin' showing it," Areum said, using a curse word she never thought she would so casually and earning her a glare that made her think she was about to get hit. She backed against the wall and made herself smaller before he could even think of touching her and gave a quiet sigh of relief when he only continued speaking.
"Iseul and I... We share everything. Including emotions. I love you so much, I could never kill you. Besides, if I did, I'd have to kill this body because I could never leave you in the afterworld alone! Unfortunately, you and Iseul would find each other as souls and I would be left all alone again. I don't want to be abandoned anymore. That's the whole reason I'm dead. Being left alone for too long.... it can kill even the biggest man," Haneul said, causing Areum to give him a look that he knew rather well due to her childlike curiosity.
"How-"
"I'm not telling you. I'd rather go to hell- quite literally- than tell you how I died. Just know that our mother... she was a very mean woman," Haneul said, making Areum's eyes widen slightly with that accidental clue to who he was. Our mother. What did he mean? Whatever he meant, she knew it was a slip up. If he didn't want to tell her how he died, there was no way he wanted to say what relation he had with either of them.
Areum hid her surprise, retaining that bit of information to hold onto. Did he and Iseul share the same mother? Did... was he meaning her mother? That almost made Areum throw up. God, couldn't he of been a bit more specific? "Open wide~" Haneul said, forcing Areum to open her mouth with his hands this time as he fed her. She couldn't pinpoint what his expression was telling her. It was a little softer than usual but it still showed a smile that was wide, almost as if he were proud of his 'future wife' as he liked to call her. He looked... loving.
A kind of loving nobody wants to be. He reminded her of an animal. It was the type of loving that some would see as borderline obsessive. However, his obsession was no longer borderline, even she could see that. It was the type of loving where one could get hurt. It was dangerous.
She didn't even know his name! This is the realization that truly chilled her very core. She didn't know his name... She knew this wasn't Iseul thanks to that little slip in the bathroom but she didn't know anything else about the man in front of her. Just small things he's let up.
She knows he knows who Eunha is but he never explained his relationship with her. She knows that he used to invent things such as robots but always destroyed them because he knew his bots were a bit dangerous. He sometimes works on little gadgets that he uses on Areum to test it out. It's not that bad, he doesn't make it to kill her or anything. She knew those things and to add onto her knowledge, she now knows that he shares a mother with either Iseul or herself. She dearly hopes it's Iseul.
"...You finished all your food. You actually obeyed for once in your life! You're a good pet! I like you,"
"..." She could've said so many things. All of which would have given her extreme punishment so she settled on staying quiet and staring at him, making sure her face didn't show the negative feelings she felt for him. It was hell that his face resembled that of Iseul's but somehow, the face.... changed throughout the time Iseul wasn't himself. The nose was a little smaller, the ears weren't as long. He almost looked feminine. Adorable even, if this psychopath would remain sane long enough for her to think it. Did his DNA change with who was in control?! There's got to be a scientific explanation for it, right?
He took her hand, smile on his face and shine in his eyes. He looked.... happy. Happy that she was complying and it reminded her of the face Iseul makes when he's happy to be with her. Areum's not stupid. This man held a strong resemblance to Iseul and even stated himself he shared a mother with either Iseul or herself. The context clues were there and all she had to do was put it all together.
They were related. They had to be! If this man would just stop hopping her up on drugs, she could have a clear head to think this all through. She could know exactly what was happening, she knows a few things, she could easily put them together and she sure that she could figure out more about him if only she stayed conscious during her drug experience.
"You may go upstairs now. Your medicine will be kicking in shortly," He said. Areum couldn't take him calling it medicine. Medicine was supposed to make you feel better but all this did was give her a pounding headache and make her feel as if she was going to puke it back up. It made her sweat heavily and want to scream. It gave her pain that was unbearable and the fact he kept giving it to her through food was too much. Finally, she'd go unconscious, like in a small sleep.
"Okay," She responded as calmly and peacefully as possible. She didn't want to fight him, especially she she just got permission to get out of the cold basement. Where was she? She knows for a fact this is not Iseul's house. Who's was this? What was this? Where was it?
Either way, she pushed forward, wanting to get away from him as soon as possible while she could still feel and remember. She was already feeling that familiar sensation of wanting to barf. Pretty soon, she'd be in a sleep like death. What happened to her when she was asleep?
--------------------
Split was her name. She had no soul of her own nor did she really differ all that much from Areum. The only difference was she obeyed much more easily. Like a doll, which is perfect for Haneul. Much less to fight with.
He gave her that 'name'. He saw no point in giving an actual name. Split was nothing but an Areum that took the drugs he made and someone that wasn't defiant with him. In actuality, sometimes Split seemed to act just like him. Sometimes, she'd be willing to do anything the real Areum wouldn't.
Haneul explained Split as all of Areum's bad being piled into one personality. It reminded him of that boy Rika told him about. He can't remember the name anymore, hell, he can barely remember his life before death. Rika was a horrid woman but at least she gave clues on how to make such a complicated elixir. Unfortunately, Iseul wasn't the one who'd be using it. Neither was he the one making it.
Split was almost crazier than him in some areas. He knew one thing, though. She loved to get hurt. Craved it sometimes. What Split was was a bad, submissive, masochistic yandere. To put it simply.
Yes... She was almost exactly like him minus two little adjectives. If you added "Dominant" and "Sadistic" maybe.
"Split!" Haneul yelled, making her breath hitch and her eyes water.
"Yes? I'm not being bad, right?" She asked, her voice wavering but that only caused him to smile. He took small pleasure in seeing her so vulnerable. Maybe she knew that.
"No, you're being perfect," Haneul said, not giving her a chance to react to his praise before he continued to speak. "But I want you to do something..."
------
A/N: So, introducing Split! She's been a character for a while but I couldn't find a way to write a chapter and make it sound good (which is very important for me) so I've just been sitting on her for a few months. While she may not really be a new character, since she is literally just Areum but drugged, I still say new character.
Also, she may also already be following Haneul to the ends of the Earth, but Haneul still want Areum to be like that. He wants to break Areum's mind in he process until, eventually, he doesn't need to give her anything.
Anyways, bye! Sorry if the chapter sucked!
