----------
Yellow pedals fell from Iseul's mouth as he coughed them up violently. On his hands and knees, he stared down with tears in his eyes, knowing what it is. Hanahaki is well known and very common, usually developed when one has unrequited love for another. He hated himself because while Eunha is having a good life with Jisu as her girlfriend, he's over there dying slowly because of it. Can I get anymore selfish?
He tried to stand but couldn't. How long has he had this? It must've been months but he could always stand back up. Is... Is this it? Is this when death comes? No! It couldn't be! He can't die at the hands of Hanahaki! He heard there was surgery and had an appointment scheduled for next week! He can't die now! That didn't stop the flowers from coming even more rapidly, blood accompying them this time, painting the yellow flowers in a brilliant red as his vision started going black and his muscles stopped holding him up, relaxing as his body started to shut down.
------------
Laon ran as fast as he could, the pavement under his feet wearing his shoes thin and his heart feeling as if it would give out. He kept Jisu on the other line of the phone, intent on making it to her before she took her life.
"Jisu, just stay there! I'm going to be there real soon, okay?!" Laon said, his breathing coming in pants as his speed quickened, rivaling the man's speed who held the world record for fastest man alive.
"I'm at fault... Iseul died because he love Eunha but I was her girlfriend. I should die too. I indirectly took his life so he should indirectly take mine," Jisu said, her voice staticy as it came through his phone. It was soft and quiet, almost as if she were being respectful of the dead.
"No! You're wrong! He would be dead anyways! The Hanahaki illness goes with unrequited love and Eunha doesn't even like boys! It's all his fault, not yours! Sweetheart, please!" Laon shouted.
"I love you. I'm gonna miss you," His heart dropped as he heard the endtone of the phone. He pushed his body even harder, sweat making his clothing cling to his wet body. His heart was beating rapidly as his breathing came in and out of his lungs unevenly. He felt like he was going to puke. He called her again and again with no answer and was almost ran over a couple times. Finally, he made it to her home. Not caring if he wasn't allowed in the girl's dormitory, he busted through each set of doors that was in his way as he ran to Jisu.
"Jisu!" He nearly screamed her name as he pulled open the door, it seeming to going off it's hinges. He found her on her bed, her eyes blinking as the few ounces of consciousness was slipping from her. He acknowledged the bottle of sleeping pills and sat her up, tears streaming down his face as he tried to stick a finger in her mouth, desperately trying to make her puke it all back up. "Come on, Jagiya, please!"
He felt the bile on his finger as he pulled it out and got her to double over. Its... It's not enough... She couldn't have puked enough up to save her life! "Jisu, sweetheart, please wake up!" Laon said. Her weak voice had said something but it was too small for him to hear. "Please stay alive until I can properly take care of you!" He started promising her everything under the sun as he called for an ambulance, his voice almost unintelligible due to his crying. He held her close as he yelled at the operator to get an ambulance there quickly.
"Yeobo... Don't... Please. Laon..." He heard her speaking and he answered her every sound, trying to contain his tears but the river flowed down his face anyways.
"Jagiya... Jisu, please don't go..."
------------------------
As if it wasn't bad enough that Iseul had died, Jisu had to add on to that. At the funeral, everyone was crying but it was only when the casket was going down in the ground that Laon had fell to his hands and knees, crying and shaking and screaming over Jisu. His friends tried to consol him, even Areum, though she could not tell reality from fantasy ever since Iseul's death.
---------------
Laon did not speak. He couldn't. Not even when Gyeong was trying to talk to him. He had become mute, not speaking to anyone. He showed not one emotion ever since Jisu left. He had breakdowns in classes, he had bittersweet memories turn into dreams that he now called nightmares. He was a broken man but nevertheless, the secret that he harbored still remained.
-----------------------
He visited her grave a lot. He never gave Iseul's a second glance even if it was in the same graveyard. Laon saw Iseul as a traitor, one who drove Jisu to madness. There was surgeries for Hanahaki illness and Iseul decided not to have it. Why?! Laon carried a dark resentmeant torwads Iseul ever since Jisu died. Honestly, he'd go as far as to say she had been anchoring him. Gyeong was a close second but Jisu was someone that kept him to this world.
He placed a paper with song lyrics on it with her grave and smiled. "My song to you is here. I'm sorry that you can't hear it. I'll play it for you at some point," Too bad Gyeong wasn't here, he'd been wanting Laon to speak for months and here he is, speaking to a dead girl.
As he left, he glared at Iseul's grave, the slightest thought of spitting on it came to his mind but he refrianed. He could almost hear Jisu scolding him for even thinking about it.
-----------------
"Traitor.." Laon mumbled, causing Gyeong to spin around. "Iseul.. traitor... Jisu... Jagiya..."
"What did you say?" Gyeong asked with hope evident in his voice but Laon said nothing more. He repeated those words over and over, not allowing himself to say more. Not being able to find the energy to.
----------------
He had enough. Laon couldn't stand this. He wanted to die so badly! What good was it? He had nothing anymore! Areum had gone batshit insane, her mentality so bad that Jeaki had pulled her out of college so she wouldn't hurt anyone and Gyeong was just waiting around for Laon to get better! Nothing was going to get better so why not die?!
First, he had some unfinished business with Iseul to deal with. He wasn't planning on being a ghost with unfinished business so he grabbed his keys and nodded a goodbye to Gyeong before leaving.
-------------
It was sprinkling outside and dark but Eunha could still see a dark figure, dragging a heavy object behind them. In a graveyard, that isn't exactly a welcome sign but all too familiar red hair peeked from the figure, making her squint to see if it was him. "...Laon?" The figure froze and turned to her. It was him and he was carrying... a sledgehammer? "What are you doing?"
"..." He had been silent for months and this was no exception. She had always been patient and supportive, Jisu's death effecting her just as badly but she had no time for patience now as she cleared her throat to try again.
"Laon! What are you doing?!"
"I need to destroy his grave before I die," Laon's deep, raspy voice said, running a fear-stricken tingle down her body. She clutched onto her necklace, trying to grab onto a false sense of security before speaking again.
"Why?"
"He took Jisu..." He spoke only when he made sure Eunha didn't respond. "I... really should be mad at you. If Jisu was never your girlfriend, then she would've never thought it was her fault that Iseul developed that illness. Yet, I can't be mad at you. I'm mad at him! He took Jisu away from me! I hate him!"
"Laon, you're scaring me," Eunha said, trying to calm him down. He only continued, completely unfazed by her sentence.
"I didn't know I was in love with her, you know!" Laon said, making Eunha shake. "Not until the yellow flowers made me cough them up too!" He has... He has Hanahaki?!
"Laon..."
"It should be me in her grave. I was dying even before either one of them!" Laon's rant came to a screeching halt as he coughed violently, yellow flower petals making thier way up and out of his throat. "Now I can't even get rid of it! She dead, there is no way! And now I can't die from it! It's torturous because at least if I was dead, I would be with her!"
"Laon! Enough!" Eunha yelled. Laon held the sledgehammer in both hands as he made his way to Iseul's grave. "What are you doing?!"
"Destroying this blasted eyesore. I can't die until that closure is settled," Laon said. Eunha felt her heart squeeze as addreniline kicked in. She rushed to him, grabbing the object in his hands and trying to take it from him.
"You aren't going to die! So you're not destroying that thing!" She yelled at him, her face so close to his that she could see the small flecks of mint color in his eyes.
"Fine... Then kill me here and now,"
