Don't Hate Me, Iseul

Areum's scream filled his ears but he couldn't see anything. It was a distant scream that sounded small and hallow even if it was deafening to his ears. It wasn't a scream he's ever heard before but he decreed at that moment he never wanted to hear it again. It was one that was sickening, almost like hearing someone's skeleton crack inside their body. Something that he couldn't run from no matter how hard he tried. Something that made him wince and close his ears.

It was his own permanent nightmare as the screams only got louder, her begging sobs becoming more coherent as he kept running. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear it.

Don't hear it.

Don't hear it..

Iseul woke up, his eyes heavy as he opened them, looking at his widow for a clue of the time. It seemed to still be very dark out, which would mean that his dream didn't last very long. Suddenly, the scream from his dream re-entered his thoughts and he looked around, desperate to see if Areum was there or at least to find his phone so he could call her. He found her beside him, her face relaxed with no sign of pain or crying. No signs that she had been the one to let out that bloodcurdling scream that haunted him into his conscious state.

He was confused because he knew that scream was hers. He knew it belonged to the corporate heir beside him and yet, he could find no sign nor evidence to support his claim. He stared at her for a long time, wondering what had happened. The scream sounded real, like it had just happened. He broke his gaze, looking down in his lap before pulling the covers off of himself.

"...Iseul..." Areum broke the silence. It was quiet and could've easily been ignored had it not been the only sound in the room. He looked back at her, noticing her previously closed eyes are now opened slightly, still trying to close again to continue the peaceful sleep she had been in. Iseul smiled before turning his body to face her fully.

"Yes?"

"What are you doing? Where are you going?" It was refreshing. To have that beautiful voice in his ears at the start of the morning, even if it were barely above a whisper and groggy from sleep. The love of his life is right beside him, asking him to stay with her without actually saying the words. It made him want to do so many things at that moment, some he couldn't even do if he tried for a number of reasons, but he didn't do any of them. Instead, he smiled softly at her before kissing her gently on the lips, lingering just slightly until he forced himself to pull away.

"Nowhere. I'm sorry I woke you. Go back to sleep and I'll be there when you wake up," Hopefully. Iseul didn't know why his mind thought that one word up. What was it telling him? He knew something wasn't right, his body was more in control than his mind. Hell, he didn't even think he was gonna kiss her until a few moments ago.

He knows every sign. It happens almost constantly now that he's grown. It was like it was going down a checklist. Memories that don't make sense, body reacting before he had a chance to formulate the thought, mind speaking up without him having to think. It was obvious to him. One may call him paranoid but he's been through possession before. When he was twelve it had first happened and he knows these are only the first few steps Haneul takes. He still had time.

The thing is, Haneul doesn't possess him unless there's a reason for it. What would he want right now? Was it important? Was he protecting Iseul or hurting him? Was he.... was he finally being selfish? Did Haneul finally break? Iseul shook his head, knowing that he was possibly overreacting. Haneul hasn't done anything yet for those thoughts to warrant a reaction.

Iseul made his way out the room, smiling at his soon-to-be fiancé who has already fallen back to sleep before going into the kitchen. He put on his jacket, shoving his hands in his pockets and running his right hand over the velvety box inside the pocket. He breathed out a sigh of relief that Areum hasn't found it yet. It was to be a surprise. A really really important surprise. This would decide their fate.

They'd been dating for maybe two years now. Iseul had been thinking for half of that time. Jeaki hasn't really seen him in person and her parents don't exactly know who he is (for a number of reasons) but their relationship had been going on for longer than anyone had really known. So long that Iseul wants to marry her. He smiled, thinking that maybe he'll do it next week. On a Friday, maybe on a really nice date or he could make it a scavenger hunt with the ring as a prize. He didn't really have the proposing aspect down.

His heart jerked for a moment, which he thought was odd before he suddenly became short of breath, having to take long, deep, shallow breaths. His stomach churned as his head reeled and his chest burned in flames. He's never experienced so many feelings before and it was all so sudden. What was happening? He wasn't dying, was he? That question was answered when everything suddenly turned black.

---------------

Haneul woke up, staring at the ceiling as he weakly got up. He coughed a wet cough before getting off of his fours and placing himself on his feet. Iseul.... I'm so sorry... I just can't have this happen... Haneul thought. He looked around, his eyes clouding over as he shredded off Iseul's jacket like it were burning him.

"Iseul?" He heard a feminine voice say. Who was it again? Wait... I know who this is.... I know very well who this is. Haneul spun around, looking Areum up and down before laughing internally. His brother was screwed last night, wasn't he? So much for saving yourself until marriage. God, Iseul...

"Yes?" Haneul answered, giving her his best smile.

"You were gone for a while. I was worried. It's still early. Are you coming to bed?" Areum asked, clearly concerned for the man she thinks is in front of her. How nice of her.

Haneul thought for a while. He wasn't exactly here to indulge himself but what the hell. He'll just sleep for a while. No harm, no foul. Jesus, he was so tired. Being in a live body was hard. It was so needy! Eat, shit and sleep is what you had to do all day. Fuck being alive! But he was here for a couple reasons with two being very selfish of him.

Kill off the relationship. Keep Iseul to himself. Keep Areum as his love slave. Never tell Areum the truth. That was the plan.

A/N: I had a thought of how Iseul started getting possessed and how Haneul became in control. Idk if it's very good so I'm hesitant on making this canon. Until further notice, this is canon! So you guys can have a bit of a timeline to work with.
