Don't Do It Please
Eunha stared down from the rooftop, looking at the ground far below her, feeling much more sad than scared. She touched the now short strands of hair as she remembered what those girls said to her before they cut it. "If you're going to think like a boy, you might as well look like one too,". The thing that bothered Eunha the most about that was that there were bystanders but it seemed they didn't care what those three did to her. It was almost like... nobody cared what happened to Eunha, at least while knowing that she isn't like them.
Besides that, another couple girls actually ganged up on her in the locker room and took the opportunity of no teachers or cameras to hurt her. Her slightly bruised body was something that hinted at the memory and event.
Everything that had been happening in the past month and a half was only piling up on her soul, the weight becoming heavy to the point where she felt like puking at the thought of going to school. She wondered if everyone in her life agrees with those people but never do anything. The thought only made her heart howl out in emotional pain. She couldn't help but think it was true and hated herself. Why did she have to be... her...? Why couldn't she just pretend to be like everyone else? Why can't she just find a cute boy and date him? Hell, she was friends with maybe three cute boys and maybe they'd like to date her but then would the bullying only get worse? After all, a lot of girls were in love with all three boys.
She couldn't find any way out of this, could she? It's only going to be endless torture, right? Even when she didn't come out, she was bullied for looking prettier than everyone else. She had always stuck out like a sore thumb but that bullying was only verbal. She had only graduated to physical abuse from her classmates when she came out. It was the last straw needed to break her.
Not only did girls bully her but guys sexualized her sexuality like it was some sort of big kink. With that memory came the memory of Laon catching wind of that and injuring one or two of the school's football players at the same time! It was enough to put a smile on her face because even if everyone hated her for one thing or another, Laon still would risk suspension or injury to make them see that Eunha is not a kink, a threat, competition or a predator.
Still, she had no evidence to suggest everyone else wasn't faking support. She had no evidence to say they were only her friends because thier parents are friends. That realization left her in inner turmoil. As she looked at the ground, she remembered what was written on her desk last class. Nobody likes a whore. When are you going to die? I'm going to laugh at your funeral. Get out of our school, we don't need you. Do you really matter at all? I wonder what your dad says behind your back.
The last one was the one that made her burst into tears in the middle of class. Some kids didn't even care, others mocked her while a few were genuinely worried. The teacher kept everyone in class until the people who were in the room admitted to writing on her desk. Nobody said a word for 13 long minutes until a blonde girl raised her hand and then a pink eyed boy followed suit. Soon, 6 people in total raised their hands to take responsibility. She felt it wasn't out of guilt as much as it was to get out of the room.
But they were right. Hell, she wondered if her dad said anything behind her back. She felt ungrateful because she knew he loved her but there's always that voice in her mind thinking that he's just pretending. Tears were covering her face now as everything that happened came crashing in, only aiding in making her step on the ledge. Every thought of her own and action or words of her bullies just made it so much easier to take her shoes off and stand closer and closer to the ledge.
She had a foot halfway off the edge when she felt a hand roughly grab her arm and pull her away, making her fall on her side with a harsh impact. The concrete floor took her breath away and she was sure that she dislocated her shoulder. She looked up to see the angry, tear stained face of Jeaki.
He was talking to her, no, it looked more like shouting but she couldn't hear him. It was a high pitched white sound that she could hear. He stopped shouting for a moment and his face changed to sadness, pain way too evident in his brown eyes for Eunha to handle.
"Eunha...." She heard her name. Jeaki was saying her name in a broken whisper, as if he were crying. Almost like he wanted to say something but hadn't form the words yet. Either way, he let himself fall to his knees, pulling her to him for a hug. Eunha wasn't expecting that so she was clumsy but she eventually managed to return his hug.
After a long time of feeling him around her and hearing his breathing go from a man who was in hysterics to regular, he pulled away, trails of where his tears had traveled still evident as he looked at her in her red eyes. Eunha couldn't take looking at his eyes, ones that were filled with every type of emotion any human could feel. Jeaki didn't have to say anything for Eunha to get what he's trying to say by facial expression.
"The only way you're going to die is if I die too," Jeaki said, shocking Eunha to no end. The man in front of her had a lot of things. He had a sure future. He was loved by everyone, no matter what. He was going to be successful and well liked and not have to deal with not knowing if your family actually loves you or not and yet he wants to throw that away for a girl who won't matter to him in maybe a few more years.
"You wouldn't. Not with everything you have to leave behind,"
"All an illusion. I'm not really the son of Jumin. Just Jaehee. I don't matter as much as my sister likes to say I do," Eunha wasn't expecting such an honest answer. Jeaki felt like that in all his bare emotion. To think, Eunha was almost positive that all this time he never thought of it that way.
"You still wouldn't. You're just saying that so I won't do it. You're just making me think that,"
"Am I?" Jeaki asked before getting up and standing at the ledge, his shoes already off while he worked on getting his uniform jacket off. "Go ahead. Get on this ledge and jump. Just know I'll be right behind you,"
"J-Jeaki.. get.. get off of there, please," Her voice was shaking as she stood up and held onto his hand. "P.. please..."
"Now you know how I felt but times what you're feeling by 100. The thing is, you weren't threatening, you were actually going to do it. Did I hurt you when I pulled you down? Probably but that was because I wanted you off there so fucking bad," This took Eunha by surprise. Jeaki never sweared unless it was due to himself getting hurt. This time, however, he was swearing at her because he wanted to get his point across. He squeezed her hand hard, Eunha was almost positive that Jeaki didn't know he was doing so. It almost hurt...
"Jeaki.."
"I'm sorry," The squeeze lessened before he continued. "Stand on this ledge with me and your death won't be the only one," Jeaki said, making Eunha question why he would actually do that. "You're too much of a beautiful person to die. Both your soul and your appearance is beautiful and I don't know if I'll ever be able to see such a perfect combination ever again in my lifetime. I'm lucky to be friends with such a gorgeous human being. Don't take God's gift to humanity away from us," Jeaki said, making it clear that he held Eunha on a God-like pedestal. He made it crystal clear that he hold's Eunha above himself and all that did was make his threat of jumping with her even more real.
Jeaki was never one to express his love through words. For him, it was too hard to do so. He always loved you by his actions and never made an attempt to say anything. Nevertheless, here he was, telling Eunha how much she actually means. He was here, telling Eunha that she was something that's beautiful even if her body was bruised slightly and her hair was cut shorter than his own.
"Eunha, you're needed. I love you so much and so does everyone else. Nobody will ever hurt you again... I'll make sure of that," Jeaki said, causing Eunha to smile. He didn't throw around the word love often. "You're one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen and you're the best person I've ever met. Mind you, I go around everywhere so that's saying something. That soul of yours is special and I would hate to see such perfection go to waste," That was it. Eunha burst into tears in front of him, not being able to stop herself in time. Jeaki sat on the roof, pulling her down with him and hugging her while she cried.
As Jeaki sat there, swaying back and forth with her and stroking her hair, she could feel the wetness of his own tears touch her head. He didn't give the slightest indication he was crying by his breathing but just that hint alone made it obvious that he was. Eunha gripped onto his shirt, intent on not letting herself fall back on the concrete. Eventually, Jeaki forced her off and took her face in his hands. He had a stern but soft facial expression, telling her what he was already planning on saying.
"Don't try it again. Please. If you ever fucking think about it again, please find us. We can all save your life," With that, he got up, making sure she stood with him. "Come on, Eunha. We still have school to go to but I'll try to find you after class, okay?" It wasn't really a question. It was a I'm going to find you so you better not jump before I can.
"Okay. Thank you, Jeaki... You won't say anything to my dad, right? I don't want to have that conversation,"
"..." He paused for a long time before letting out a sigh. "Okay. As long as you stay alive for me.... I'll say this one last time. I love you," Jeaki said. Eunha looked down in shame because she knew Jeaki put everyone before himself. She knew he would never want her to die.
"I love you too," Eunha said. Jeaki smiled at her before pulling her into a side hug. He didn't say anything else but she could tell he wanted to. There were some perks to growing up with people because you could tell what they're saying just by the look on their face. It was like that with all of them.
A/N: Yes, this actually happened. This is a major event that made the two grow closer together but it isn't the only one. I'm not satisfied with how I ended it but it's good enough. Also, let's clear this up. Everytime they say "I love you" They are saying that in the friendliest way possible. Brotp.
