Chapter 6: Family

Deanna's P.O.V

The darkness dissolved again and I was brought into a light area, another field. I wasn't sure how long I had been in darkness but I disliked it. It was lonely and cold. I could hear people talking to me but I couldn't talk back or smile or frown or anything. The idea got me down.

All the team would speak to me and few held my hand, in hope I would squeeze it. I tried to, tried to let them know I was there but I couldn't. No muscle in my body moved and the pain in the centre of my torso tottered from little bits of pain to pain I couldn't handle but couldn't cry out.

As the light invaded my vision I noticed I was dressed in the same thing I had been when I met Hel. However this time the dress had silver trimmings that shimmered in the light. I was still bare foot and this time my hair fell down my back in waves like it had just been plaited.

The field was practically empty besides a small group not to far from me. From what I could see the group was made up of two woman, two men (one being about half the oldest age but still a man) and four young girls, children. They all seemed happy and sad at the same time.

Slowly I made my way over to them and when I got a few feet away the youngest child, who looked around two, turned her head towards me. My green-blue-grey eyes met her dark blue ones and I knew who she was. She must have recognised me too because she stood to her feet slowly before running over to me.

"De de!" She cried running into my arms since I had bent down to meet her small frame.

"Maisie!" I cried, cradling my youngest sister in my arms as I stood to me feet. Her hands held my dress tightly and I sobbed quietly. The rest of the group got up and came over to me, the three other girls running. "Nicole! Laila! Sophie!" I cried as my other three sister hugged my legs.

My Mom, Dad, Step-Mom and Brother went to far behind. Maisie was my Fathers and Step-Mothers while the other three were my Mothers but with different dads. My Brother Bobby was also my Fathers child but not my Step-Mothers. My Step-Mother was called Tammy.

Placing Maisie back on the floor I engulfed my Mother, Father and Step-Mother into separate hugs. Once I was finished I ran into Bobby's arms and cried even more. I was closer to him than anyone else really in my family. Soon everyone joined us for a group hug.

"I'm so sorry." I cried to them all. "This is all my fault, if I hadn't left for America to go and train non of this would have happened."

"Hey, hey, hey." Mom cooed "It wasn't your fault, you just went to follow what you knew was right. You didn't have an idea of what would happen to us."

"Sweetheart don't beat yourself up over it" Dad said gently, picking Maisie up. "On the bright side I guess you could say we are all still together. Maisie wasn't left without parents and non of us were left without our children."

"Yes plus here it's nice and peaceful. There are no stresses or worries. I promise you that this isn't your fault and we are all okay." Tammy added with a gentle smile.

"So what are you doing here De?" Bobby asked as he pulled me into another side hug.

"I'm not sure because this is a special resting place. I know I'm not dead, I'm currently in a coma" I replied. "But you shouldn't be here, not in this place," I looked around and saw another figure watching us from a far. When I looked closer I saw it was Hel and she was smiling lightly at me.

"She brought us here" Bobby said, nodding towards the half human half dead girl. "Said we could visit and maybe see you."

"She brought me here too then. She's the only one who can bring us in and out of here and free will." I replied as she made her way over. "Thank you" I said once she had reached us.

"Your are very welcome" She replied with a small nod "But now you must go back Deanna. I can't keep you up here for too long otherwise I won't be able to try and keep you alive on Midgard." Nodding in understanding I gave my family one last hug before taking Hel's hand.

Once again pain flooded my body and I was thrown into darkness. However this time it wasn't completely silent like it was the first time I had been brought back from a meeting with Hel. There was someone talking to me and squeezing my right hand ever so often.

"De please wake up. We all need you, Adrienne and Loki are getting stronger. We don't know when they will attack again. We're getting stronger too but nothing is the same without you. No ones laughing as much and no one can crack puns like you can. Please De, please De wake up." It was Clint.

His voice was heavy with emotion and it sounded like he had been crying. A sniff came from him and I mentally sighed. I wanted to sit up so badly and hug him. Squeeze his hand and let him know I'm okay but I couldn't. I couldn't do anything and for once in my life I felt helpless.
