Chapter 13: Desperate
Deanna's P.O.V
Two days after Bruce told me about Fury's plans to turn of my life support machine the darkness faded again. A field materialised in front of me with Asgardians littering the soft green grass. The dress was the same as when I first arrived, when I met Hel. However my hair was not.
It was plaited in the same way Clint always plaited it, the same as Katniss Everdeen. The thought of Clint and the others brought tears to my eyes and helped me decide my next move. Surprised Hel didn't show I sprinted across the field to find her. The people watched as my dress billowed in the wind behind me.
I soon found Hel in the White rose meadow with Frigga. "Hel! Frigga!" I called, my pace never slowing. The two woman turned to me with confused expressions. Tripping I fell into Hel's arms with a groan. "What are you doing here?" She asked, helping my stand up right again.
"You brought me here didn't you?" I asked, straightening the creases in the dress. Hel shook her head. "Anyway that's not the point" I brushed it off quickly.
"Wait, wait, wait. That is the point you've brought yourself here, you can travel between the realms!" Hel interrupted but I brushed her off again.
"Okay amazing cool. Listen I need your help even more. On Midgard the only thing besides you keeping me alive is a machine called a life support. If they turn it off your magic will be useless and I will die. They are thinking of turning it off soon because I'm still hat awake.
"I'm not showing any signs of awaking, they could do it at any point. Please Hel I need your help, I'm desperate!" I begged.
"You know I can't help you any more than I already have" Hel sighed. Grumbling I ran my hand through my hair, the rose from before still there. "You need to awaken yourself. All I can tell you is forget the pain of the wound. Once you forget the pain your body should wake itself up."
"And if it doesn't?" I questioned, becoming even more aggravated.
"Than when you pass Hel will bring you here. Won't you darling?" Frigga said. Hel nodded and held her hand out once more. Looking at them both I sighed and took it. Pain flooded my body and darkness invaded my vision.
"Fury you can't turn it off, please just a little longer!" The unmistakable voice of my best friend, Beth pleaded towards the Director. A hand squeezed mine gently, Clint was silent as he tried one last time to wake me. "This is my decision Agent Lloyd, she is my Agent!" Fury snapped in reply.
"Director please!" Beth tried again but from the silence I guessed he brushed her off. A sob escaped Beth's lips, reaching my ears in a painful chime. Pain erupted from my torso but I did as Hel advised and tried to forget it. Soon enough it began to fade and I could feel my hands.
Nothing else would move but my right hand, the hand Clint was holding. As hard as I could I squeezed his hand back. "Wait!" Clint yelled, I could sense everything around us stop. "She squeezed my hand" I did it again.
"Clint stop you're just over thinking this, she hasn't moved in nearly a month. She's gone." Natasha voice rang out.
"I swear to you she squeezed it!" The archer protested again. Suddenly his hand was removed from mine and someone else's replaced it. It was Bruce. "Deanna if you can hear me squeeze my hand" The doctor istursted, I did. "Clint's right, she can squeeze my hand."
The room was sent into what sounded like a frenzy. "Deanna listen to me I need you to try and open your eyes for me okay." Bruce said gently. My head pounded from the idea but I tried to comply. Slowly but surely my eyes opened a crack. Light streamed in making me wince.
Not a sound came from my throat tho as I wanted to groan in pain from the harsh light. Gently my eyes fluttered open and I could see everything around me once again. The main thing in my line of vision was the grey ceilings of S.H.E.I.L.D. Then two familiar figures popped into view.
Bruce and Clint were looking at me with so much relief in their faces it was hard to miss. "We can't sit her up yet but it's nice to have you back Deanna" Bruce smiled. I tried to return it but my body was exhausted. Bruce walked away and Beth replaced where he stood.
"Oh thank goodness!" Beth exclaimed holding onto my left hand and squeezing it.
"You're alive" Clint sighed. I rolled my eyes at his remark.
"Good to have you back Agent Chalmers" Fury's voice caught my ears.
'Good to be back' I thought to myself 'Good to be back'
