This is basically how Percy and Amber met from Amber's point of view.

Amber's Point of view

I was walking in central park, I went mainly for exercise, as well as time to think. As I walked I was thinking about my life. It had been fine until my father died, sure we'd had our hard times but we had gotten through them. When my father died when I was in the tenth grade after he had gotten a brain tumor. that was the last straw and my mother broke.

At the time my mother was still dealing with the loss of my younger sister even though it had been quite a few years since we lost her. I'd never known her, none of us had since she was stillborn. That loss coupled with the loss of my father made my mother finally shatter. After my father's death, my mother was never the same.

While I had been helping with some of the housework for a while she started pushing even more, things off on me. More often than not she would just be sitting down in the living room wallowing in her grief. I tried to help her through it but nothing I did helped her and she refused to go to counseling. After putting up with that throughout high school I came here to New York for college. I would get in contact with my mother every so often but I didn't talk to her much.

Nowadays my friends were usually bugging me to find a boyfriend since I was the only one in my group of friends that didn't have a boyfriend. It's not that I didn't want to find love I just wasn't in a hurry to find it. That day though it seemed that fate had other ideas. As I walked I wasn't paying as much attention to where I was going as I should have been, due to that I walked into someone, lost my balance and fell to the ground. The man that I had bumped into leaned forward and reached his hand out to help me up.

I took his hand and returned to my feet. I looked at him so I could apologize for bumping into him but instead I found my gaze fixated on his eyes, I quickly tore my gaze away not wanting to seem like I was staring. There was just something about this guy that drew my attention to him, he had messy black hair oddly enough his skin appeared to be tanned even though it was the middle of winter, maybe he had just come back from vacation? Another thing that was odd about him was that his eyes were gold and they appeared to have flecks of sea green in them.

Instead of apologizing I found myself complimenting him on his eye colour, he thanked me and then he apologized for bumping into me, I guess neither of us were really paying attention to where we were going. I continued to talk to him I learned that his name was Percy and that like me he was interested in Greek and Roman mythology, we stopped for coffee but eventually he cursed when he realized that he was late for something. Before he left though I wrote down my phone number and gave it to him so we could hopefully spend time together again.

I hoped he would contact me, there was just something about him that made me want to see him again. From what I had seen, so far, he seemed like a really nice guy and it was nice to meet someone who shared my interests. That wasn't the only reason I found myself wanting to see him again though, as we were spending time together I'd felt something that I'd never felt for anyone else, I'd never really believed at love at first sight but now thinking back on it that might have been what happened. I think that even then I had already started to fall for him. Now I know I will never love anyone else since he is definitely the one.
