The New Girl: Chapter 18
Upstairs at the party, Kota had found his way into Cody's bedroom. After judging his rather expensive clothes and bedding, he began looking at the photos on Cody's dresser. There was a photo of Cody and Sasha at what appeared to be the beach. Another was of Cody and the guys. Kota picked up the frame and looked closer. From left to right there was Seth, Roman, Miz, Cody then Kenny. Kota looked closer as Kenny and Cody standing side by side.
"Find anything interesting?" Cody suddenly asked from the doorway.
Kota jumped in fright, dropping the photo on the floor. Oddly enough, the glass on the frame cracked right between Cody and Kenny.
"Shit." Kota said as he began to pick up the frame.
"It's okay, just leave it. I'll get it later." Cody said as he walked into the room.
Kota couldn't help but be a little embarrassed that he had been snooping.
"I'm surprised you actually came tonight." Cody told him.
Kota took a sip of his beer.
"To be honest, I have no idea why I'm here." Kota confessed.
"Oh I think I do." Cody said as he took off his shirt.
Kota tried his best to not be impressed by Cody's abs.
"The pool right?" Cody asked almost jokingly.
Kota watched as Cody walked out the glass door of his bedroom that lead out to a terrace and jumped in the his pool.
"So what is it, hm?" Roman asked April with his hand draped over the steering wheel.
April was staring straight out the window, regretting her decision for fall into Roman's game.
"What are you talking about?" She asked with hint of annoyance.
"Back at the party you said that wasn't your idea of fun. So what is it?" Roman asked curiously. "What's your idea of fun?
April took a deep breath and hesitated to answer. The last thing she wanted to do was start a conversation with Roman.
"Reading, music, writing.." April began to say as Roman let out a laugh. "Wrestling." She added quietly.
"Wrestling?" Roman asked in surprise.
April shook her head, knowing that he was going to judge her.
"Like MMA or the fake stuff?" Roman asked.
April turned her head and stared at him with disbelief. Roman couldn't help but be a little afraid of the look she was giving him.
"Um.." Roman tried to figure out what he had said wrong.
Even though April's blood was boiling, she knew Roman wasn't worth the energy.
"Pull over." She told him
"What?" Roman asked in confusion.
"I'm getting out of the car." April said.
"Look, whatever I said-."Roman began to say as April opened her car door.
Roman slammed on his breaks as she got out of the car.
"What the hell are you doing?" Roman asked.
April slammed the door shut and grabbed her bag from the ground.
"Are you fucking crazy?" Roman asked as he got out of the car.
"I can walk the rest of the way." April assured him.
Roman stared at her for a moment, not understanding a thing that had just happened.
"I'm not a bad guy." Roman yelled loudly as April tried to walk away.
She stopped only a few feet in front of Roman's car that was parked under a street light. At this point, April couldn't keep her anger in.
"Not a bad guy?" April asked as she turned around. "Are you kidding me?"
Roman suddenly felt a little afraid of the small brunette charging towards him.
"Are you forgetting that I saw you the other night?" April asked as she got in his face. "I know who you are, what you do.. I know everything."
"You think you're a real know it all, don't you?" Roman asked her.
"Yeah actually, I kind of am, because unlike you I actually have a brain." April told him.
Roman took a deep breath and looked down into April's innocent eyes. He was almost frustrated with himself for wanting to prove April wrong. That's when he glanced at a sign behind her and realized where they were. He turned around and stormed to his car. April assumed her was leaving but he just pulled over to the side of the road. He shut his car off and got back out.
"Follow me." Roman told her.
April let out a laugh at his request.
"Can you try not being stubborn for like two seconds and just let me show you something?" Roman asked as he approached an opening in the woods.
"I'm not stubborn." April insisted with her arms crossed.
Roman responded with an unbelievable look.
"You know what? Follow me or don't. Do whatever you want." Roman said before walking into the woods.
April held her ground for a bout three seconds before getting spooked.
"Damnit." She muttered to herself before following Roman.
Not far down the road, Becky had pulled up to a bar on the edge of town. Sasha was accompanying her in the passenger seat but neither of them had said a word to each other the entire ride.
"You're sure he's here?" Sasha asked as they got out of the car.
"That's what I was told." Becky said as she lead the way inside.
As they walked into the bar they quickly took notice of the few Profits members that were playing pool in the back.
"We shouldn't be here." Sasha warned Becky.
Becky knew Sasha was right but she wasn't going to leave Kenny there alone.
"Where is he?" Becky asked the bar tender.
The bartender motion to the other side of the bar where Kenny was nearly passed out. One of the Profits members seemed to take an interest in the situation.
"Y'all little ladies are on the wrong side of town." The Profit member spoke up.
Becky and Sasha tried to ignore the man as they made their way over to Kenny.
"Kenny?" Sasha asked in surprise.
"Help him up, let's get him to the car." Becky said urgently.
"Kota.." Kenny mumbled incoherently as the girls began to carry him out.
As they passed by the Profits, the who had spoke up early made eye contact with Becky. She wasn't sure what it was but something about the man gave her a bad feeling. They didn't eye contact until she and Sasha got outside with Kenny.
"Damn, he's heavier than I thought he would be." Becky commented.
Sasha reached out and opened the back door. The girls just shoved him, Becky careful not to hit his head on anything.
"I'm so getting blamed for this." Becky realized.
Sasha couldn't help but let out a little laugh.
Back at the party, Dean was just pulling up outside. He got out of his car in his black leather jacket, excited to see Renee.
"You're too late." Carmella commented from the porch as Dean approached.
Dean furrowed his eyebrows in confusion when he heard the music coming from inside.
"Seth took her home about an hour ago." Carmella told him.
Dean grit his teeth for a moment, trying his best to hide his frustrations.
"All the geek squad is gone too. I think Alexa is still inside but everyone else left." Carmella added.
"Geek squad? Very original." Dean said.
Carmella took a sip of her beer and looked up at Dean, revealing her watery eyes.
"You.. uh.. you okay?" Dean asked uncomfortably as he scratched his head.
She looked away and nodded in assurance.
"Of course I'm okay. I'm perfect." Carmella insisted.
Dean took notice of the mascara running down her face.
"Nobody's perfect." Dean said sincerely.
Carmella felt her heart ache at Dean's words. She tried as hard as she could but she couldn't hide her pain.
"You're driving me home." Carmella said as she suddenly got up in a burst of energy.
Dean looked at her in confusion.
"I am?" Dean asked.
"Uh yeah, that's what I said isn't it?" Carmella asked as she headed to Dean's car.
Dean shook his head in disapproval.
"You know there's this thing called asking politely. You should try it sometime." Dean told her.
Carmella just rolled her eyes and got in the car.
Inside, Miz was still trying to get some answers out of Alexa. Unfortunately, yelling over the music wasn't really working. Miz grabbed her by the arm and pulled her away, leading her to the backyard. Alexa wasn't sure if maybe he'd had too much to drink.
"Those flowers.. Who were they from?" Miz asked suddenly.
"What?" Alexa asked with an awkward laugh.
Miz's eyes however seemed rather somber.
"Are you seeing someone?" Miz asked her.
Alexa was now starting to get uncomfortable.
"Why are you asking me all of these questions?" She asked.
"Because you're my best friend's little sister. I'm just looking out for you." Miz lied to her.
Alexa quickly became offended at Miz's remarks.
"Look I get that you're sweet and innocent and you think everyone in the world are good people but they're not." Miz tried to be reasonable. "Especially guys. You don't know what kind of things they think.."
"Oh and you do?" Alexa asked accusingly.
Miz stopped himself for a moment. He looked into Alexa's eyes and knew he had crossed a line. But for whatever reason he couldn't stop himself.
"What's his name?" Miz asked her.
Alexa stared at him in disbelief. She had no idea what was going on or how she'd even gotten into this conversation with Miz of all people.
"Where is all of this coming from?" Alexa asked him.
Miz kept his eyes on the small blonde as he felt the alcohol getting to him. He knew he messed up. Alexa watched as he looked away for a moment.
"I have no idea what I'm doing.." He confessed.
Alexa watched as he tried to think to himself.
"Are you okay?" Alexa asked as she took a step closer to him.
Miz looked up at her again as she stood nearly face to face with him. His stomach dropped and he was no longer able to think straight. Alexa furrowed her eyes in in confusion.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Alexa asked him.
Without thinking, Miz put his hand on her cheek, stepping even closer to her. Alexa's heart was pounding in her chest. She had no idea what was happening. The two of them looked into each other's eyes as the light winds of the night brushed across their faces.
Just as Miz began to lean in for what appeared to be a kiss, Alexa put her head down. Miz was confused. She looked up and began to open her mouth to give an explaination but no words came out. Miz's puppy dog eyes pleaded with her in embarrassment when they heard the back door open.
"Alexa?" Finn Balor asked as he stood by the door.
Alexa nearly jumped away from Miz when she saw Finn.
"Finn, hey. What-what are you um.. doing here?" Alexa asked as she rushed over to him.
"You invited me, remember?" Finn asked as he looked Miz up and down.
"I know I just-just figured by this time you weren't going to make it." Alexa tried to act casual.
Finn looked at Alexa for a moment as she waited for his response, hoping he hadn't seen anything. Then he suddenly smiled.
"You look beautiful tonight." Finn told her.
Alexa let out a sigh of relief.
"Can you please get me out of here?" Alexa asked him.
Miz watched Finn with skepticism. Something about him gave Miz a bad vibe.
"I'm parked out front." Finn said as he grabbed her hand and opened the door that lead back into the party.
Miz watched helplessly as Alexa left with Finn. He was so caught up in the moment with Alexa that he hadn't noticed his phone.
"Sorry Kenny but I've got some bad news for you. First Seth goes after one sister and now Miz is going after the other. I guess your friends aren't as loyal as you thought, huh? Don't worry though, there's still so much you don't know."

"Fuck." Miz muttered under his breath when he saw the attached photo of him and Alexa right before he tried to kiss her.
Inside the party, Finn as leading the way as he held Alexa's hand. Everyone was staring at the two of them. Alexa was a little confused at first. Maybe everyone was staring because of Finn. But she quickly took notice of everyone's gasps and glances at their phones. Alexa felt a rush of embarrassment come over her as heads kept turning in her direction. Once she and Finn finally made it out of the party Finn gave a confusing look.
"What was that all about?" Finn asked her.
Alexa panicked.
"They really don't like Eastsider's." Alexa told him.
Finn nodded and walked around to the driver's side of his car while Alexa quickly checked her phone. The minute she saw the photo Anonymous had sent, her eyes filled with tears.
"Everything okay?" Finn asked innocently.
Alexa quickly put her phone away and faked a smile.
"Of course. Everything's great." She lied.
Finn had a bit of a devilish look in eye as he let out a slight smirk to himself.
Across town, Becky was driving Sasha home after they had rescued Kenny from the bar.
"Do you think he's going to be okay?" Sasha asked Becky with concern for her friend.
Becky glanced in the rearview mirror at her nearly unconcious brother.
"He'll be fine. I've seen worse." Becky assured her.
"You have?" Sasha asked.
Becky looked back out at the road for a moment, trying to hide the disappointment on her face. Sasha could tell that the subject was striking a nerve with Becky and couldn't help but feel bad.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-." Sasha began to say before Becky interuppted her.
"My father.." Becky said suddenly. "Well my foster dad.."
Sasha waited patiently as Becky continued.
"He had a bit of problem with alcohol, among other things." Becky said unfortunately.
In the backseat, Kenny was fading in an out as he tried to hear what Becky was telling Sasha.
"The Wilson's.. I loved them.. They were my first foster family. I don't know what it was about them but really thought they were it for me. I felt like they were my family." Becky paused for a moment. "I think I was a little naive.. I wanted too much."
"What happened?" Sasha asked.
Becky did her best to not let her emotions get the better of her. She stayed calm, hoping to prove that she was okay.
"They taught me that people are shit. No matter how much you want them to love you, you'll always be let down." Becky said seriously.
"So you always expect the worse from people to save yourself from getting your hopes up.." Sasha added.
Becky looked over at her for a moment.
"Is that really so bad?" Becky asked her.
Sasha gave Becky a sympathetic look, her adoring brown eyes hoping to give her comfort.
"Yes. It's tragic." Sasha told her rather bluntly.
Becky was a little surprised by Sasha's honesty. She hadn't expected an actual response.
"You wanna know what I think?" Sasha asked.
"Hm?" Becky said as they passed through a green light.
"I think that as much as you walk around acting like a badass, all you really want is love and to be loved. Your safety.. You want a home." Sasha began to tell her. I think that's all you ever wanted."
Becky was at a loss for words as Kenny almost let out a drunken smile to himself.
On the Eastside, April was following Roman out of the woods when they approached a cemetery.
"I knew it." April said to herself.
"Knew what?" Roman asked.
"You're gonna kill me, right?" April asked seriously.
Roman couldn't help but laugh.
"You think I brought you out here to kill you?" Roman asked in amusement.
April shruged her shoulders. "A gang member asks me to follow him through the woods and we end up in a cemetary.. Yeah, I feel like my suspicions are valid."
Roman let out another laugh.
"If you actually thought I was going to kill you then why follow me? I told you you didn't have to come." Roman explained.
"Yeah but I figured either you try to kill me or some stranger on the street does it while I'm walking home. So I feel like I wanted to take my chances with the person I do know. I mean just in case you fuck up and the cops need me to ID you." April said very thoughtfully.
Roman stared at April for a moment with confused eyes.
"Anyway.." Roman tried to move on as he walked towards the cemetery.
April let out a few annoying sighs as she continued to follow Roman. Luckily, it wasn't long until they arrived at their destination. Roman stopped in front of a grave. April immediately read the tombstone, "Edwin Reigns."
"What is this?" April asked him.
"This is my father." Roman confessed to her.
She thought to herself for a moment before looking back to Roman.
"So what.. Is this supposed to make me feel bad for you?" April asked.
"No." Roman assured her. "I just wanted to prove you wrong."
"Prove me wrong how?" She asked.
Roman didn't say anything. Instead, he waited for April to figure it out on her own. She thought for a moment but at first it wasn't clicking with her. Not until she realized they were in an Eastside cemetery.
"Your father was from the Eastside?" April asked in surprise.
"Until the day he died." Roman added.
April couldn't find the right words to say.
"I was born and raised on the Eastside. My mom and I moved across town when she got remarried." Roman explained to her.
She shook her head.
"I don't get you." April said suddenly.
"Maybe because you were so quick to assume that I'm just rich asshole playboy when in reality you don't even know me." Roman told her.
April looked back up at him, looking into his eyes.
"So what.. You think because you told me this.. because you were born on the Eastside that my opinion of you is going to change?" April began to ask.
Roman furrowed his eyes in confusion.
"You may have been born on the Eastside but I promise you you're not an Eastsider." April continued. "You're selfish and dangerous."
Roman tried to contain himself but for reasons unknown, he was hurt.
"Why do you even care anyway? She went on. "Why do you care if I hate you?"
"I don't." Roman blurted out immaturely.
April gave him another curious look, trying to read his emotions.
"If this is about what I know.." April treaded lightly. "Look, I promise I'm not going to tell anyone. So can just go our separate ways and pretend you never came into the grill that night?" She asked hopefully.
Roman stared down at her, almost helplessly. He himself didn't understand why he cared so much about April's approval. He barely new the girl.
"Yeah, that's it.." Roman tried to say. "I wanna make sure you keep your mouth shut." Roman lied.
"Well like I said, I'm to going to say a word. So are we done here?" April asked him.
Roman gave a reluctant nod, trying his best to hide his disappointment. April took a deep breath and turned around. He watched with a heavy heart as she walked away, quickly disappearing into the night.
At Sasha's house, Becky had pulled up along the side of the street just a few houses down. The two girls both got out of the car while Kenny stayed passed out in the backseat.
"I hope this was okay, I figured you dad would you a hard time if he saw me dropping you off." Becky said as she walked around the car.
"Yeah, this is fine." Sasha said as she nervously put her hands in her pockets.
Becky watched her for a moment, accidentally getting caught up in her eyes.
"Um.. Thank you, for coming with me to get him." Becky tried to make conversation.
"That's what friends are for right?" Sasha said almost with disappointment.
Becky herself felt her heart sting at the sound of the word 'friends'.
"Yeah.. Friends." Becky repeated.
Sasha glanced down at the ground for a moment.
"I should probably get inside." She said.
"Yeah, of course." Becky tried to say as Sasha began to walk away. "Sasha." She said suddenly.
Sasha tuned around and looked at Becky, waiting for her to continue. She hesitated.
"You're a really amazing person." Becky told her.
Sasha let out a small smile, not quite sure how to respond.
"Have a goodnight, okay?" Becky said.
"You too." Sasha said before turning and walking away.
Becky just stood there, helplessly. It wasn't long until her phone buzzed.
"Aww, poor Becks! It wold be so easy to get what you wanted but you and I both know you don't deserve her. Good choice on only being friends."
-Anonymous
Becky read the message with teary eyes, trying her best not to let whoever was behind the messages to get to her.
At Renee's house, Seth had brought her home and carried her up to her bedroom.
"How're you feeling?" Seth asked as he tucked her into bed.
"It won't stop spinning." Renee mumbled with helpless eyes .
Seth watched Renee for a moment, hating the fact that the others let her drink this much.
"I know it's bad right now but I promise it will get better after you get some sleep." Seth assured her as he sat on her bed.
"I should have never drank anything. I'm never never doing.. doing that again." She tried to say as the room spun around her.
"No, You're definitely not." Seth mumbled to himself.
Renee watched Seth for a moment as her vision blurred.
"Kenny needs you." Renee told him.
Seth couldn't help but be a little surprised that Renee didn't mention their own relationship issues.
"He needs all of us." Renee went on. "So stop sleeping with his sisters."
Seth now let out a small laugh, knowing that there was more than one reason Renee would prefer he stop sleeping with Becky.
"It's just the one." Seth corrected her.
Renee shook her head and stretched her body out across the bed, nearly kicking Seth away.
"Yeah, yeah." She mumbled under the blankets.
Only a few streets over, Dean was driving in silence with Carmella in his passenger seat. All that could be heard was the sound of the wheels on the road. Carmella opened her phone in hopes to find a response from Roman to her texts. Dean glanced over at her phone.
"You know you don't deserve all that crap he puts you through, right?" Dean asked.
Carmella quickly locked her phone and gave him a rather disapproving look.
"You have no idea what you're talking about." Carmella insisted.
Dean thought over what she said for a second.
"Yeah, probably not." He said, getting an amusing laugh out of Carmella.
After a few more moments of silence, Dean thankfully pulled up to Carmella's house.
"Here we are.." Dean said as he looked out at the large house brick house ahead of him.
Carmella looked at her house for a moment herself with a bit of disappointment.
"Your parents already go to bed? It's awfully dark in there." Dean commented.
"That's because no one is home.." Carmella told him. "No one ever is."
Dean watched her with a bit of sympathy as she got out of the car.
"Um.. Are you going to be okay here?" Dean began to ask her. "By yourself?"
Carmella let out a small laugh.
"Of course I will be fine. I am the only person I need, scrub. I can take care of myself." She reminded him.
Dean kept his eyes on her for a moment, seeing through her charade once again.
"Right.. Well uh.. have a good night then." He told her.
Carmella faked a quick smile and walk away, trying her best to hide how she was really feeling.
Back at Cody's house the party was beginning to die down. Most people were either passed out in the yard or calling it a night. Upstairs though, Cody and Kota were only beginning their nights.
"Are you gonna stand there all night and watch me or are you getting in?" Cody asked from inside the pool.
Kota looked out at him for a moment, awkwardly.
"Come on, I promise I won't bite." Cody assured him.
"Somehow I doubt that." Kota mutter to himself as he decided to take off his shoes.
Cody looked up at Kota from the pool as he took off his shirt. He watched with intrigue as Kota now took off his pants.
"Don't get too excited, Rhodes. I'm keeping the boxers on." Kota told him.
Cody couldn't help but let out a small laugh. Kota took a deep breath, knowing that whatever the hell it is that he was about to do was going to be a mistake. He closed his eyes and jumped into the water without another thought. When Kota came up from the water, his eyes were still closed. It wasn't until his cleared the water from his eyes and he realized Cody was right in front of him. They were now face to face as the reflection of the water danced around them.
"I knew this would be a bad idea.." Kota muttered to himself as he lost himself in Cody's ocean eyes.
"Speak for yourself." Cody said, glancing down at Kota's mouth.
Within seconds, Cody leaned in, pressing his lips against Kota's. In that moment, the world stopped for Kota. His heart felt like it going to burst out of his chest.
Cody himself, couldn't comprehend what he was feeling. The two of them began to make out, not knowing that not too far away, someone was watching.
At home, Becky finally got Kenny up to his bedroom. He already passed out as she covered him with a blanket. Her phone suddenly buzzed.
"I heard about Kenny. Is he okay?"
-Seth.
Becky sat down on Kenny's bed for a moment to respond.
Seth himself was laying on a pallet he had made for himself on Renee's floor.
"He's okay. He's home."
-Becky.
"Good. Take care of him okay?"
-Seth
"Of course. What about Renee? I saw what went down at the party. You get her home okay?"
-Becky.
"Yeah. She's not going to be drinking for awhile but she's okay."
-Seth.
"That's good to hear. She's lucky to have you."
-Becky
Seth read the last message for a moment and looked up at the bed to Renee. He let out a slight smile as he watched her sleep.
Becky waited a few seconds for a response but she assumed Seth had fallen asleep. She began to get up but her phone buzzed again. Only this time it wasn't Seth.
"I hope you all enjoyed the night, there was plenty of secrets to tell but I can't give it all away now.. We're only just getting started. If you haven't noticed by now, you're all connected. You're lies, your secrets.. Those are the things that keep you all tied together. Your precious Kenny Omega is going to be the first the break. After tonight, it looks like he's already falling over the edge.. But don't worry, I'm not done with him yet. I still have one bombshell that is going to crush his world. Then who will I go after next?
-Anonymous
Becky felt a rush of anger and concern come over her as she looked back at Kenny. She walked over to his nightstand and grabbed his phone, hoping to shield him from whoever was behind the anonymous text messages.
