The New Girl: Chapter 12
Nine years ago:
Fitzgerald School of Dance was a prestigious dance academy for the wealthy members of the nearby communities. Beautiful solo piano played calmly throughout the dance studio. A young Sasha Banks was rehearsing with one leg on the ground and leg raised behind her body and extended in a straight line, displaying a nearly perfect, arabesque. In the back, a young Carmella Van Dale was trying her hardest to imitate her classmate, Sasha. She was hoping her mother would walk in soon to pick her up and see her good structure. Sasha glanced out of the corner of her eye and saw a young blonde boy looking in through the window outside. He watched the girls, longingly, as if he wanted to join. Sasha gave him a curious look herself.
"Ow!" A young Carmella let out as she fell to the ground.
The instructor shook her head with disapproval.
"To the back! Mess up again and you're out of my class." The instructor warned her.
Sasha looked back and saw the tears swelling up in Carmella's eyes. She took a deep breath and began walking towards the back, leaving her position in the front of the room. The instructor looked at Sasha in confusion.
"Ms. Banks!" The instructor shouted. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Helping." Sasha told her.
Carmella gave Sasha a looked of disbelief as she approached her.
"Are you okay?" Sasha asked.
Carmella nodded quickly and wiped the tears from her eyes.
"It's easier to hold your ground if your toes are pointed." Sasha told Carmella.
Carmella looked down at her feet and tried to fix her errors as she watched Sasha.
It was soon after that when class was dismissed for the day. Carmella and Sasha walked over to their things and began getting ready to leave.
"Thank you for helping me." Carmella said.
"No problem. I'm Sasha by the way." She said as she offered out her hand.
Carmella let out a genuine smile, realizing that she may have just made her first friend. That's when she she saw her nanny walk in to the school.
"Is that your mom?" Sasha asked.
"No.." Carmella said unfortunately as she grabbed her things and hurried away.
That day while Sasha waited for her parents to pick her up she walked outside and sat on the school's steps. That's when she saw the blonde boy again. He was wandering around by a few trees on the side of the building. Sasha got up and walked over to him.
"Just so you know it's kind of creepy to look in the window like you do." Sasha told him.
"What?" He asked.
"Why are you always out here?" Sasha asked.
"My aunt and uncle work over there. I like being outside so'm waiting here." He told her.
Sasha looked the boy up and down with curiosity.
"What's you name?" Sasha asked.
"Cody." He told her.
"Sasha." She added.
The gave examined each other for a moment.
"I liked the pink outfit you had on." Cody told her.
"You know if you join you can get you own." Sasha said.
"Join?" Cody asked.
"That's why you watch us, isn't it? You want to dance?" Sasha asked.
Cody looked at the school curiously.
"But there is no boys is there?" Cody asked.
"Not yet. But they didn't have any good dancers until I joined either." A young Sasha joked.
Cody let out a big smile at her confidence.
"You should come to the next class." Sasha said.
"I don't think my aunt and uncle would like that very much." Cody told her.
"What about your parents?" Sasha asked.
Cody froze for a moment before looking down in disappointment.
"They would have liked it.. My dad especially." Cody said with an unfortunate look on his face.
Sasha couldn't help but be a little confused. That's when Cody saw his aunt and uncle walk out across the street.
"I have to go." Cody told her.
Sasha watched Cody hurry to his aunt and uncle as they gathered into a black Cadillac.
Present Day
Alexa and Kenny were sitting in the waiting area of the police station while Kathleen and August spoke to a few officers.
"This is insane." Alexa said as she looked around in disbelief.
Kenny shook his leg anxiously without saying a word.
"Do you think she did it?" Kenny accidentally asked.
Alexa looked over at him in shock.
"You're not serious are you?" Kenny asked.
That's when Dean and Kota rushed into the police station.
"Hey, what's going on?" Dean asked.
Kenny looked up and immediately made eye contact with Kota.
"She's being questioned right now." Alexa told them.
Kota gave Kenny a sympathetic look, knowing that he was having a hard time.
"I need some air." Kenny said as he got up and walked away, passing by Kota on his way out.
Kota looked back with concern for a moment before he and Dean took a seat across from Alexa.
"Just so we're straight on all of this, there is absolutely no way that she did this right? She doesn't even know this girl." Dean asked.
"Well.." Alexa began to say.
"You're kidding." Kota said in disbelief.
"Apparently she knows her frm her old Orphanage back in Ireland. They may have had a thing, I don't know." Alexa told thmem.
"A thing?" Dean asked.
"Like a sexual thing, Ambrose." Kota helped him out.
Dean looked oer at Kota and raised an eyebrow.
"Well damn.. That definitely makes it sound like she did this." Dean said.
"She didn't!" Alexa assured him.
"I know that, okay? Obviously, I now her well enough to know that if she really want to kill someone she wouldn't be sloppy and leave evidence behind like this. She's smart enough to get away with it. This is too sloppy to be her." Dean said seriously.
Kota and Alexa both looked at Dean with disbelief for a moment.
"You do realize we're talking about murder here, right?" Kota asked.
"Yeah. Like I said.. If Becks wanted to kill someone then ain't nobody gonna know bout it. She's a badass. I have full faith that our friend is smart enough to get away with murder." Dean continued rambling.
Alexa and Kota ket staring at him, blankly.
"You on the other hand.." Dean said as he looked at Alexa with concern.
Alexa couldn't help but make an offensive look.
"Anyway..." Kota said as he gave Dean a look telling him to shut the hell up. "Do you know if they have any evidence against her?" Kota asked.
"All I know is that they made the connection from the Orphanage to here." Alexa told him.
In the interview room, Becky was being questioned by two detectives.
"Can you tell us about your relationship to Ms. Bevis?" Detective Otunga asked.
"I told you.. We met when I was seven. She was transferred to the same orphanage as me in Ireland." Becky told him.
"And what was the nature of your relationship?" Detective Fox asked.
Becky thought to herself for a moment.
"Friends.. We were friends." Becky said reluctantly.
"Friends?" Detective Otunga asked.
"That's right." Becky said.
The two detectives looked at each other for a moment.
"Ms. Lynch, do you know what this is?" Detective Fox asked as she put a folder out on the table.
Becky looked at the documents as Detective Otunga flipped through them for her.
"This right here is the receipt for the car you rented a few days ago." Detective Otunga said.
"I didn't-." Becky tried to say.
"This is photo's of the trunk of that rental car. We got a tip about an abandoned car outside of town." Detective Otunga continued
"And do you know what those stained are there in the trunk?" Detective Fox asked.
Becky looked at the photos with concern as her eyes began to tear up.
"That's blood. That's two thousand eighty two milliliters of type A blood." Detective Otunga added.
Becky looked up at him immediately with confusion.
Outside the room, Dean, Alexa and Kota were discussing things when Dean looked at the entrance.
"Is that your mom?" Dean asked Kota.
The three of them looked over as Kota's mother walked in wearing a badass power suit with a suitcase in hand. She walked and greeted Kathleen with a hug.
"Thank you so much for doing this." Kathleen told her.
"No need to thank me, she's family now." Kota's mother said.
August gave he and Kathleen's good friend a grateful smile before she walked straight into the police chief's office.
"We have photos of your friend right here in town. We don't find it to be a coincidence that your friend happened to go missing and ends up right here where you were adopted. Now we find strands of her hair in the trunk of the same car you rented and more than enough blood that matches her medical records to change this from a kidnapping to a murder investigation." Detective Otunga told her.
Becky looked down in deep thought, knowing that something wasn't right.
"Okay. So what now? What am I being charged with?" Becky asked as if she'd accepted her fate.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
The detectives looked at each other for a moment before someone walked in. Becky had her head down while a young, red haired man handed the detectives a hard copy photo.
"From her lawyer." The young man told them.
David Otunga examined the photo of Becky kissing Sasha.
"It's time stamped the same time the car was rented." The man said.
Detective Otunga let out a scoff in disbelief.
"Thanks, Zayn." Otunga said as the man left the room.
"Uncuff her" Otunga told Fox.
Fox let out a unfortunate sigh and began to uncuff Becky.
"I don't know how you pulled this off but I'm going to get to the bottom of this. If this photo is fake, I'll find out." Otunga told her.
Becky looked at him with a bit of fear in her eyes, hating being looked down at. Fox opened the door and Becky walked out. Kota, Dean and Alexa all rushed over to her.
"Are you okay?" Alexa asked.
Becky looked at her and hesitated.
"Yeah, um.. I'm fine." Becky told them.
Detective Otunga and Fox walked out of the interview room to find a familiar face standing by.
"Sora Ibushi.. You don't miss a beat, do you?" Otunga asked.
"Not when I have client's to defend, no." Sora told him.
"You mean guilty clients?" Otunga asked.
"I thought it was innocent until proven guilty? Or did I miss the part where you amended the constitution?" Sora asked.
Otunga stormed off in a rage with Fox following him.
Becky looked over at Sora for a moment, not knowing how to thank her.
"I think you kids need to head home for the day. You especially, keep a low profile until I get more details on the case." Sora told Becky.
Kota, Becky, and Dean walked outside while Sora spoke with August and Kathleen.
"Someone is framing me." Becky told them quietly.
"What?" Dean asked.
"Framing you?" Kota asked.
Alexa looked to the other curiously.
"The evidence they had was all fake. There was a receipt from a car rental agency last night using the credit card Kathleen and August gave me." Becky told them.
Everyone was silent for a moment.
"You rented a car last night?" Alexa asked.
"No, that's the point. Someone set the whole thing up." Becky said.
"Where were you last night?" Dean asked.
"That's what your mom brought in, Kota. Proof that I was somewhere else." Becky added.
"And where was that?" Kota asked.
Becky looked at them and paused for a moment.
"I was with a friend." Becky told them.
"Rollins?" Dean asked almost hopefully.
Alexa and Kota looked to Becky with concern.
"No.." Becky said.
Everyone eaited for her to continue,
"Sasha Banks.." Becky confessed with caution.
They all gave her a disapproving look.
"They also said they found blood in the trunk of the car. But it type A.." Becky went on.
"And?" Alexa asked.
"Paige's blood type is B positive." Becky added.
"So you're saying that someone set this entire thing up? Why would someone do that?" Kota asked.
Before Becky could answer, Becky's phone buzzed.
"I may have set you up but I'm also the one that sent that photo to Mrs. Ibushi. Just wanted to show you how easy it is for me to control your fate. I'll be watching you."
-Anonymous
Everyone was looking over Becky's shoulder at the message when their phone's buzzed as well. It was from Anonymous. They all looked close at their phones, realizing it was a photo of them taken only a few moments ago. The friends all looked around, wondering where the photo was taken from.
Eight years ago...
An hour before dance class that morning, Sasha and Cody met on the rooftop of the school just as they had every Saturday morning for the past few months. "Like this?" A young Cody Rhodes asked as he practiced a ballet move his friend, Sasha had shown him.
"Point your toes a bit." Sasha directed him. "There you go, that's good."
Cody smiled to his friend for a moment, letting her know how much he appreciate their Saturday mornings together.
"Thank you." Cody told her.
"For?" Sasha asked.
"Letting me be myself.. It's feels good." Cody said.
"It does?" Sasha asked hopefully.
"Yeah.. Your the only person that I can do this with. Most people don't get it." Cody told her.
Sasha looked at him for a moment as she thought over what he said.
"I don't really like ballet." Sasha told him.
"What?" Cody asked.
Sasha looked down at her feet unfortunately.
"I wanted to take martial arts classes but my parents said it was for boys.." Sasha confessed to him.
Cody recognized the pain in her eyes.
"Martial arts, huh?" Cody asked.
"Yeah. I loved the idea of always being able to defend myself. I thought I could be strong like Wonder Woman." Sasha told him.
Cody thought something over in his head.
"I guess I should ask about taking some martial arts classes then." Cody said.
"What?" Sasha asked in confusion.
"Yeah. Your teaching me ballet so why don't I teach you martial arts? I more interested n dancing and you want to kick ass but obviously no one is going to let us do what we want.. So why don't we help each other out? We can teach each other what we learn." Cody suggested.
"You would really do that?" Sasha asked.
"Of course. Your my best friend. I'd do anything for you." Cody assured her.
Sasha let out a genuine smile to her friend.
That morning as class was about to start, Carmella was waiting for Sasha when someone tripped over her bags.
"Ow!" A young girl shouted as she looked at her own feet in confusion.
"Are you okay?" Carmella asked.
"Yeah, just clumsy." She told her.
"Are you new to class?" Carmella asked.
"Yeah, today's my first day." The girl said.
"I'm Carmella." She told her .
"Renee." She said with a smile. "I like your headband by the way."
"Oh, thank you. My mom makes them for me." Carmella told her.
"Wow, really?" Renee asked.
"Mhm." Carmella said proudly.
That's when Sasha walked into class.
"Hey, there you are." Carmella said.
"Here I am. You ready for today?" Sasha asked.
"I am. I don't know about this one, she's clumsy." Carmella joked.
"I'm Renee." She introduce herself with a small laugh.
"Clumsy, huh?" Sasha asked.
Renee nodded her head in approval.
"Should we go to the back today?" Sasha asked Carmella.
Carmella let out a smile. Even though she'd earned her way up to the front wit Sasha, she remembered what Sasha had done for her that first day they met and now they were going to do the same to the new girl. The three girls made their way to the back of the room and began stretching, not knowing that they were about to become the best of friends.
