"A date?" That was the first thing that fell from Deanna's lips as she entered Bethany's room. "You want help getting ready for a date?"

"A date." Bethany echoed with a nod while her friend walked over to the wardrobe. "A date with Steve." Deanna froze for a second, her eyes flicking between the wardrobe and her friend who sat on the end of her bed. As the blonde observed the room her eyes fell on a single red rose on her best friends pillow.

"Steve asked you on a date?" The older girl questioned, her eyebrows raised and a small smirk crossing over her lips. "When did this happen?"

"This morning." Bethany replied, bowing her head to let her dark locks hide the blush forming on her cheeks. "He gave me the rose before he asked." Deanna hummed thoughtfully before turning back to the wardrobe.

"You're the fashion expert."

"Yeah but you've had a little more experience at me than this."

"I've never been on a date!" Miss Chalmers exclaimed, throwing her head back. "Just a few boyfriends when we were younger. Where are you going?"

"Well he said he'd 'pick me up' at about five, so in an hour and a half. So we can't be going anywhere too fancy right?" Bethany began questioning everything, her eyes wide and flicking around the room frantically.

"Casual picnic date it is then." Deanna giggled, ignoring her friend as she began sifting through the large wardrobe of clothes. "Now what to wear." Miss Lloyd sat in silence as she watched her friend rummage through all the clothes she possessed, her eyebrows knitted together in thought.

After a few minuets the blonde finally decided on an outfit and threw it to her friend. Dark blue jeans, simple back blouse, black slip on shoes and a fashionable blue scarf with stars on. "Have fun!" Deanna beamed, skipping from the room and winking at her firmed before she disappeared.

Bethany grinned and chuckled behind her hand, her eyes cast down to the blanket she was seated on. Steve was telling her stories he remembered from the war and some of them were amusing to the brunette. The super soldier smiled over to the female, her hair falling down to cover her face.

"What about you then?" Steve asked, turning fully towards his date. "Have you got any stories from before we met you?"

"Well we've been with you most of our lives." Bethany replied. "I didn't really do much other than study. I wasn't interested in anything else other than getting my studies done and exams passed."

"Then you were dragged into our lives."

"Yeah, then I met you guys." Miss Lloyd replied with a nod. "And it hasn't been the same since, but I wouldn't change it for the world, even if someone offered me the world."

"Well that's what happened with Adrienne." At the name of her old friend Bethany winced slightly, memories of her death flooding back and causing her to shudder. Steve's eyes instantly dropped, guilt filling him as she realised what he had said and how Bethany felt about the subject.

"I'm sorry Beth, I didn't think."

"It's fine Steve." Bethany replied, standing up and brushing her jeans off. Also getting up Steve packed away all the picnic stuff before following Beth out of the park. The pair walked in silence for a few minuets.

"I've enjoyed this." Steve broke the silence suddenly,,causing Bethany to look up at him and give him a soft smile.

"Me too."

"Would you consider, maybe doing this again sometime?"

"A second date?" Steve nodded sheepishly, bowing his head to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks. "Sure, that would be nice." Bethany stopped in her tracks, causing the super solider to also stop in the street.

"Are you okay?" Steve asked, turning around to face the brunette. Letting out a large breath Bethany stepped up beside the blonde and kissed his cheek fleetingly.

"Thank you for today."
