James + Deanna Proposal

Deanna Chalmers was woken up to a small weight being placed on top of her stomach before it evened itself out to also being weighing down her chest slightly. The blonde allowed her eyes to flicker open, her green orbs instantly being met with a pair of dark blue hues; she chuckled lightly.

"Good morning Mr." Deanna grinned, wrapping her hands gently around the small boys waist and holding his head so she could sit up. "Morning Beth."

"Morning De." The brunette waved behind her as she flicked through her older friends clothes. Miss Chalmers gently lay Chris Rodgers down on the bed in front of her, tickling him carefully and causing him to erupt into a fit of giggles. "So, how's it going with you and Buck?"

Deanna looked up for a movement before returning her attention to the little boy in front of her as she answered. "Okay yeah, best relationship I've been in."

"I bet, you guys seem really happy together." Beth agreed, finally deciding on a set of clothes and placing it down on the dark purple duvet cover. Without Deanna knowing Mrs Rodgers slipped a piece of paper under the fabric of clothes before scooping her little boy up in her arms, earning a pout from the blonde.

"Get dressed it's already 10am! I'll see you in a bit!" With that the Mother and son disappeared from the room, leaving Miss Chalmers to get dressed into the black skinny jeans and floral top Bethany had left out for her. After slipping on some pink converse and pink SnapBack the female paused.

Out of the corner of her eye she noticed a piece of white paper folded up on her bed, a small red paper rose lay just beside it. Opening it cautiously the blonde laughed when she noticed little red roses in the corners of the paper, just like the flower she now held in her hand. After a few moments of giggling she finally read the note.

"In a place where you train to defeat your foes, is where you'll find another rose." Rolling her eyes Deanna slipped the note into her pocket and began walking towards the elevator to take her down to the trailing room, the small delicate rose resting gently in her closed palms.

Upon reaching the training room Deanna spotted Clint and Natasha leaning against the observation table in the coner, the married couple seemingly in an intense secret discussion. "Have you two seen a small paper rose and note around?" The blonde called, deciding not to get any closer and risk hearing something she might not have meant to.

"By the archery targets." Clint answered, nodding over towards the targets that had several holes in them from where he and Deanna had trained. Nodding the green eyed female skipped over to them, the white note and read rose catching her attention immediately.

"In your search for another flower, look for the man with the strongest power." Miss Chalmers frowned for a moment, most of the men in the tower had a strong power. However her face lit up once more. "Thor!" She exclaimed, running from the room in search of the demi-God.

It took her a while to find Thor in the tower, as she completely forgot about asking. J.A.R.V.I.S for her. Once she found him the tall blonde chuckled deeply before handing her the same two items she had recused previously. "Good luck Lady Chalmers." Thor winked and walked off, leaving the woman alone in confusion.

Shaken herself off Deanna opened up the next piece of paper and once again read it aloud to herself. "Something so delicate can be torn, that's why your gifts haven't had any thorns. There's one final clue to find an object so sweet, just come to the place you can hear the birds tweet." Sighing softly the girl moved towards the stairs and began climbing them, going up a few floors towards the roof.

Once there a strong breeze startled Deanna, causing her to step back and take her hat off before it flew from her head one over the edge of the tower. As she clipped her SnapBack around her belt loop the blonde female moved further onto the roof, the morning sunlight shining down softly on her exposed face and arms.

After a few moments the girl jumped, a pair of arms wrapping tightly around her waist from behind. "Feeling poetic today are we?" She asked, turning in James' hold and tilting her head to look up at him. The brunette chuckled and ducked his head, a small blush spreading up from his neck to his cheeks.

"Did you not like them?"

"Oh no I adore them!" Deanna confirmed, opening her hand to show her partner the flowers she still held there. "And the poems are so well written and thought out, but I'm curious as to what all this is for. This isn't another anniversary I've forgotten about is it?" A blush not formed on the smaller figures cheeks.

She had forgotten quiet a few times about the anniversaries she shared with James, not on purpose but it had always slipped her mind while Mr Barnes always remembered. "No, no, nothing like that." James assured, pulling away slightly until they were a few small steps apart.

"I've just got something, I want to tell you and it needed to be special." Deanna stayed quiet, signalling for the man to continue. "This is going to sound so cheesy." James scratched the back of his head with his hand, his body suddenly becoming tense and nervous.

Reaching forward the green eyed female took James' metal hand into her own, as she couldn't reach his human one, as she waited for him to continue. "You know I have many nicknames for you, several different pet names I use to get your attention."

"I find it hard to keep up sometimes." She giggled, interrupting the slightly awkward atmosphere that had settled around them.
"Yeah, well I've found one I'd like to stick to." The ex-soldier continued. "My rose. Now there's a reason for this before you ask!" Deanna rolled her eyes slightly. "I'd like to call you that because to me your sweet and delicate." The blonde raised an eyebrow and folded her arms tightly over her chest at the claim.

"But, you are also strong and can defend yourself like the thorns on a rose." James continued, avoiding the small glare he was reviving from his girlfriend.

"Good save." She praised. "Now I can tell you have something to tell me, so come on out with it."

"Okay. Deanna Marie Chalmers, would you make me the happiest man alive and become Deanna Marie Barnes." Deanna watched as the brunette knelt down on one knee, a blue velvet box opened in his hand to reveal a sparkling diamond rose ring. For once she was taken back, unable to find any words to say.

All she could do was nod as happy tears streamed down her face, her knees failing under her until she too was on the floor of the roof. James slipped the ring onto her finger and embraced the small female, his own relived smile breaking across his lips. The pair stayed like that for a while before going to tell the others the good news.

A/N:
Cheesy!
OMG this one was so long and I'm so sorry! I know I don't usually do ones like this with the ring in the media but it was that ring that gave me this idea as I was struggling to make this one unique.

This is a completely different look on their relationship and shows that although they seem to not click all the time they do love each other and have amazingly sweet sides.

Also, did you like the poems? The took me forever to come up with!

Thanks for reading!
