Chapter Six: Twists of Life

A/n: Yep!!! I think I'll keep on Arya X Eragon in my fanfiction. Anyway, thank you to all of the people who read my fanfiction! 💗💗💗

Eragon sighed inside his huge room while Saphira's curled up in her nest. It was a new day and he knew that many important responsibilities would bombard his schedule. He'll have many meetings with several nobles, royalties, warriors, and more from all people of Alagaësia that travelled long to see him.

Even so, loving someone who's a royalty turned out to be very difficult for him. He couldn't even understand why he cannot forget Arya. She's the Queen of the Elves! There were many times he was rejected by her but whenever he tried to make fairth to hang in his room, Arya's image always appear. His love was just too strong, and he doesn't know when it will be reciprocated.

Arya had promised that she will leave her position to settle in Mount Arngor but for ten years, she never left Alagaësia. She stayed as Queen in Ellèsmera for ten years now and even lead the elves during the war against the Kingdom of Dongnaia. He wanted to mount Saphira so badly and fight but he was advised by his counselors to stay behind and allow younger dragon riders to do it.

He wanted to find someone else and fall in love with another elf but no matter how he tried to forget her, it was still Arya with whom he wanted to be with forever. He loved him since he had saved him away from Durza and his love only grew when he discovered that the Arya's a princess. Now, the distance between them went further since she's the Queen of the Elves. Being the leader of the dragon riders took so much time and it's a good distraction for him. His unrequited love reminded him. about Angela's prophecy. She had foretold that his love will outlast many empires.

Eragon woke up under Saphira's wings. At the time he opened his eyes, he muttered, "Arya doesn't like me but why am I still infatuated with her? She's a hundred years old! I'm sure she thinks that I am still a child!"

Eragon stopped courting her but he found ways to show his love for her even it doesn't look subtle. He knew that the dragon and rider who will represent him in the Elven Court finished the dragon rider training. After much deliberation, he had chosen an elf dragon rider named Alberic and his dragon, Tourmaline, to represent him in Arya's court two years ago. He's grateful that the elves were very supportive. They also helped in finishing the stronghold. Of course, the dwarves had also contributed much to the creation of the new home of the dragons and their riders.

It took five years before the whole mountain became ready for more dragon riders to be trained. At eight years of his stay in the mountain, it began to look like Vroengard. It wasn't as majestic and elven as the old island of the dragon riders but it was still enough for him. There were a forest of narra, pine, and fir trees lined the interior of the mountain. Huge buildings were built and many of them were the quarters of all other dragon riders.  The doors of the buildings were like mouths to vast canverns, windows were as tall and wide as castle gates, and every wall was like a sharp cliff. It was also very obvious that the homes found in Mt. Arngor were different and multiracial.

As he was in his deep thought after he sat down on his table in his room, Roran knocked on his room. "Are you awake now? Eragon? I apologize if I woke you up. Your servants kept telling me not to wake you but I really have something urgent to tell you."

Saphira stirred in her sleep. The knocking sound might have woken her up. Who was that? I was having a very great dream! Firnen and I were about to—

Eragon smiled. That's Roran at the door, Saphira. Can I talk to him first before you tell me about your dream?

"Can I come in your room, Eragon? I need your urgent advice!" Roran called again. "Something important happened today! I don't know what to do!"

"Get in, Roran!" Eragon replied to him. "You can come in."

The door of his room opened after that. It was at that time that he saw a newly-hatched royal blue dragon walked behind him in his surprise at the time he let him in.

"Looks like I am a dragon rider like you now. I'll be able to be with my child for as long as we can but I don't know how Katrina will feel about this," Roran declared. "My dragon hatched yesterday for me and yes, I'm still thinking what to name him."

Saphira gave a very interesting grin at the small dragon who has the same color but had a different shade from her. The small dragon was already ferocious and strong. He's male, Eragon. It would be fascinating if he's given a very masculine name.

Eragon nodded and then, he asked his cousin, "When did he hatch for you?"

"You know my job, right? I quickly felt a wild and unusual presence when I held him." Roran petted his dragon until he realized that the royal blue dragon's male. "I was about to go home when he hatched for me while I was holding him to be transported in Alagaësia."

"Rowan can teach you magic in Alagaësia and the ways of the dragon riders," Eragon told him. "I'm glad that you're one of us now but since you're an earl, you can't leave Palancar Valley."

"Serving Nasuada's been great and being in Palancar Valley made me very busy, too." Roran chuckled. "Katrina will be flabbergasted to know that I'll go home as a dragon rider! Ismira will be happy, too."

Eragon agreed with him. "Rebuilding Palancar Valley seemed to have kept you busy. It looks like both of us have almost the same job for ten years."

"What you're re-building is harder than shepherding humans," Roran told him. "Soon enough, there will be many of us. The old ways will return and you're going to be the leader of the second dragon age."

Eragon and Roran fist-bumped. "That's really something, Roran. I'm grateful that you're my brother."

"What do you think his name is?" Eragon asked. "I'll give you suggestions."

Roran accepted a long list after that. "Thanks, Eragon. I'll study well with Rowan in Palancar. It's a good thing that the dragon hall just finished days ago."

The dragon hall in Palancar Castle in Palancar Valley was intended for Ismira but it looked like, Roran will have a use of it, now. "Er... I guess I can ask these names to him when we're back in the valley."

"I hope one of those will be his name," Eragon said. Little dragon, take care of my cousin.

The royal blue dragon rose up and flew naughtily at him. It looks like he understood what he said to him.

"When will I hear his thoughts like the way you do with Saphira?" Roran asked him. "All I see were images when he tries to talk to me."

"A few weeks at best," Eragon replied to him. "Good luck being a dragon rider."
