Warrior or No?

((The media is Mistypool.))

Hollypaw rushed to Mistypool's den, she'd caught this vole fresh, and it wasn't like usual leaf-bare kill. It didn't look as good as the one Jaypaw had caught, but she still wanted him to have it. She entered the den happily, the hunt had been exceptional for her, along with this vole, she'd caught a rabbit, it wasn't very big, she credited that to leaf-bare, but she was content.

"Hey Hollypaw." Mistypool greeted warmly, she was sorting herbs on the den floor.

"Hey Mistypool." She mewed around her catch. "Where's Jaypaw." She dropped the vole, trying not to let the pride eek into her voice.

"That's a nice vole." Mistypool commented, then answered her question, "Being a stink over where the apprentices eat. He thinks he's leader since he caught a thrush. But what he doesn't know, is that even a leader listens to his medicine cat." She joked good naturedly.

"He did what? He shouldn't even be out of the medicine den, let alone camp!"

"Yes I know, would you mind explaining that to him?" She asked, moving some dried horsetail out of her pile, "I need some more catmint." She muttered, and Hollypaw took that as her cue to leave. She picked up her vole to leave, then stopped and padded to Mistypool.

She dropped the vole next to her, "Have you eaten yet?"

"As a matter of fact I haven't, thanks Hollypaw." She munched at the vole, and then Hollypaw left.

"No problem, see ya!" She marched over to the small lump in the ground where the apprentices usually ate, and sure enough, there was Jaypaw, nibbling his thrush like he were completely normal. "Jaypaw!" She meowed sternly.

"What?" He mewed between bites as if nothing were out of the ordinary.

"You're not supposed to be out of the medicine den!" She growled.

Oakpaw looked up at her with fear in his blue eyes, "You're going to get it." He murmured to Jaypaw.

Jaypaw shrugged, "I don't see what the problem is, there's no reason I should be in the medicine den."

"What do you mean." Hollypaw sat, and stubbornly stared at him.

"Well, the only reason Mistypool still is keeping me in there is because she wants me to take an interest in becoming a medicine cat. I won't humor her."

"Jaypaw I..." She stood up, "Let's talk somewhere else." She waited for him to get up. When he did, she walked next to him, and they padded towards the camp entrance.

"You didn't eat yet, you should get something." Jaypaw halted by the fresh/kill pile.

"No, I feel sick, I don't understand right now."

"Suit yourself." He shrugged and they continued, until they came to a small clearing a little ways from camp.

"Jaypaw," Hollypaw began shakily, confusion soaking her. "What do you mean you wont humor her."

"I mean, I'm going to be a warrior, and she can't change my mind."

"Jaypaw you can't-" She stopped herself, and looked down.

"Become a warrior?" He finished for her, "Hollypaw, I'd like to explain, but it's none of your business." He snapped, and headed for camp, determined not to trip on anything, and make a fool of his last statement.

"I'm sorry!" She called after him, and she sat down in exhaustion, fear set in. What if Jaypaw fights to become a warrior, he'll never be a warrior. What if he gets killed in battle because of his stubbornness? If he doesn't become a medicine cat his only other option is Leafstar retiring him to be a elder early, he'd be just like Deerleap. She plopped right were she was. What was going to happen to her only brother.

"Hollypaw?" A voice called out.

"Foxwhisker?!" She jumped up. "What are you doing?"

"I saw Jaypaw come back, he looks angry... what did you say to him?" He sat next to her.

She decided she'd tell him, who better to trust then your mentor? "Well, I told him he can't be a warrior. I mean, don't you think? It wouldn't be fair to anyone around him... Don't let him know I told you this, but people will constantly be having to protect him. What should I do?"

"I think you should come with me."

"What?!" She looked up at him, surprise shining off her brilliant green eyes.

"Leave it up to Jaypaw and Leafstar, it's not like you can change either of their minds anyways right?" He smiled and stood up.

She blinked in surprise, who knew Foxwhisker was so sensible, "Right. Thanks Foxwhisker."

"You coming?" He flicked his tail and padded away.

"Yeah wait for me!"
