The Truth.

((The media is Poppytail, I couldn't make her tail tip brown!!! *Sobs*))

"Jaypaw!" Poppytail called after him, "Wait!" She followed him through the camp entrance. "You can't go by yourself."

Jaypaw ignored her, he didn't need her with him, and he certainly didn't need her input.

"Jaypaw wait!" She stepped in front of him, forcing him to stop.

"Okay, what?"

"Jaypaw... I..." She faltered, and looked down.

"Yeah, you're upset," He searched her thoughts before he continued, "You're annoyed because I'm you're apprentice, and I can't see anymore! You're scared because," He suddenly could see one of her memories.

Poppytail was hunting in the Pine Trail with a small mottled brown tom. Jaypaw recognized him as Deerleap, probably Deerpaw at this time. 'Oh yeah, Poppytail was Deerpaw's mentor before the accident.'

"Look!" Deerleap/paw whispered, "I'm going to get that starling." He signaled with his tail to a starling in a tree, it looked like it was sleeping. He started to shimmy up the tree.

"Be careful!" Poppytail hissed back.

Deerpaw reached the brach it was on and looked down, *Gulp*, "I didn't realize how high this is..." He muttered. The starling jerked up, and jumped to the next branch. Deerpaw jumped after it, he landed on the bird, but the branch wasn't sturdy enough to hold him. *Snap!*

"Both of your apprentices now have had something bad happen to them. You're worried because you don't know how to teach me if I still become a warrior. And you're jealous because Foxwhisker gets Hollypaw and you're stuck with me!"

"How did you-" She started but he interrupted her.

"You're not as good at hiding your feelings as you think you are." He lied, the only reason he knew all of that is because he could somehow see her thoughts. She didn't need to know that, he wasn't sure why either. He stalked past her, but as he started to walk away, he tripped over a stray branch.

"Jaypaw! Are you okay?" She hurried over to him.

"Geez, I'm fine." He stood up and shook his pelt. He padded of into the forest.

"Jaypaw look out!" Poppytail called, too late! Jaypaw went tumbling down a small hill. He landed in a thicket, and came out covered in thorns. The end of his tail got stuck on them. "Jaypaw stop!" Poppytail skidded to the bottom.

"No, I can do this by myself!" He didn't want to be blind, or weak, and he didn't want Poppytail's help, she was just guilty.

"Just stop being stubborn!" She ordered, gently clasping his tail in her teeth, and lifting it out of the thorns.

"Thanks." He muttered, and Poppytail started towards the stream that separated them from Sandclan. Jaypaw really didn't want to go here. This was the place where he had lost his sight.

Poppytail sat, and looked into the water. Jaypaw sat a little ways back and started picking thorns from his pelt, although most of them had fallen out on the way over. "I'm sorry Jaypaw."

"Huh?" He looked up in surprise, what did she have to be sorry for? He was the one who had went out and gotten blind.

"If... if I were a better mentor..." She scooted back from the water a little bit, and lay down. "You're right, I am scared... I don't know what to do, if I had just realized you were nervous, I could have stopped you from going... Did you know, that Deerleap could jump higher than me?" She chuckled a bit, a hitch in her mew, " He could have been such a great warrior, if only he'd had a better mentor. If I had been smarter, I would have told him to get out of the tree, and he would be still be running, and jumping, and using his legs." She sighed in defeat.

Jaypaw just let her rant, he understood her, after all, he could feel the feelings she was feeling. He stood up, "Come on, let's get some hunting in." She nodded and stood up.

"Yeah let's go." She led the way.

"Poppytail, you're not a bad mentor... you just had terrible luck with apprentices." He wasn't just trying to comfort her, he was to honest for that. He was really telling the truth, if Deerleap had had the sense to stay out of the tree, he would still be able to use his legs, and if Jaypaw had stayed in camp, instead of trying to secure his place at the gathering, he would still be able to see.

"Thanks Jaypaw." And then, they hunted.
