Outside My Dreams.

((The media is Milky.))

Hollypaw poked Jaypaw a couple times, shaking him gently, "Wake up sleepy!" His eyes flickered open, he set his icy blue stare on Hollypaw, his eyes made her feel guilty, even though she'd done nothing wrong. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah?" He sat up. "Why."

"Because... I'm almost sure there's something outside the camp, but... I don't know what it is." She licked her shoulder fur self-consciously.

"Naturally, there's a whole forest out there." He fluffed out his pelt and licked it down a few times.

"No, I mean... something that shouldn't be there..." She looked back up at him.

He nodded, "Alright, show it to me." He heaved himself out of his nest, ready to follow her.

"Y-you're not mad at me for waking you up in the middle of the night?" She inquired, disbelief filling her mew.

"So long as there is something out there."

Hollypaw nodded and quietly padded out of the medicine cat den, Jaypaw following. She slowed a bit so he could use her as his eyes.

"Hurry up!" He hissed from behind her, she sped up a bit and they exited camp. The forest whispered a greeting to her and she paused to let the wind tease her fur. "Are we going or not?"

"Huh? O-oh! Yeah let's go!" She led the way through the trees, she didn't know how she knew where she was going, but something was calling to her and she was determined to know what it was. Suddenly Jaypaw pulled ahead of her and weaved his way through the undergrowth. "Where are you going?" Hollypaw called to him, struggling to keep up with him, even though he was the blind one, she tripped more than he did trying to keep up with him. Then she almost ran into him, she peeked around him, "What are you doing?"

"Milky?" He breathed into the air. She didn't hear anything, but when he was satisfied with his answer he replied, "What are you doing here?" Silence, "I know, I'm trying to follow the light, but if I can't see, how will I know where it is?" Hollypaw winced as he mentioned his blindness, it was still hard to believe he was blind. "Warmth." He muttered, "Who are they ?" He questioned the air. His neck fur suddenly bristled, "Why do you keep speaking in riddles?" When he paused for long enough he snapped, "Fine! I'll find it myself!" He calmed down after a few moments, and sighed, breathing in deeply. "Alright, let's go." He turned toward camp, suddenly acknowledging Hollypaw.

She tilted her head, "What do you mean?" When he didn't answer but just kept moving, she followed, reluctantly, looking back to the clearing he'd stopped at, an unfamiliar scent filled her nostrils, and a young she-cat appeared, it was just a faint outline, but it still gave her chills up her spine.

"Come on." He hissed, she nodded and followed.

Anger surged through Jaypaw and his paws worked fiercely at the moss in his nest. Why did Milky always have to be so illusive? Why couldn't she just tell him what she knew? He stood up and shook himself, Mistypool looked back at him, "I see you're awake finally." She meowed playfully. He grunted in reply, and turned to leave. "Wh-where are you going?" She asked cautiously.

"To see if Poppytail needs me." He answered without pausing.

"Wait Jaypaw!" She called after him.

"Mm?" He stopped not bothering to turn back to her.

"Y-you can't just..." When he didn't reply she continued. "You can't just go."

"Why not?"

"Well..." She struggled with the awkwardness, "Don't you ever think... that you're not..." She paused and looked down.

He searched her thoughts, "She thinks I'm not fit enough to be a warrior! " He inwardly scoffed, "I will become a warrior... you'll see." He turned from her, bitterly searching for Poppytail. He sensed her near the nursery, scuffing around with the kits.

He growled and started towards her, "Already looking for a new apprentice." He mumbled, staring at her with blank eyes.

"J-Jaypaw!" She stood up and shook the kits off her pelt. "I wasn't- I was just- I... Yes?"

"What are we doing today?" He sat down next to her.

"Huh?" She blinked in surprise, but quickly straightened, "Did Mistypool say you're allowed to leave?"

He searched her thoughts, she was worried that he wouldn't be able to become a warrior, and she would fail as a mentor, she was annoyed that she couldn't have been chosen as someone elses mentor, but then she quickly reproaches herself. He snarled, he was tired of people thinking he needed or wanted their sympathy or pity. "Fine, I'll go hunt by myself." He turned and started towards the camp entrance, he'd go hunt, nothing was going to stop him from being a warrior, nothing.
