Steve's point of view

We were in a meeting with Fury, we were all there except for Thor who had business to deal with on Asgard, and Tony was late as usual. Fury was saying "There will be someone new staying with you. Once we are sure that he isn't a threat, he will become the newest Avenger." 

Tony, who had just come through the door, said, "what! It's my tower I won't let just anyone stay in it who is this person?"

 Fury continued, he said, "his name is Perseus or Percy Jackson, S.H.I.E.L.D. has almost nothing on him, he would now be seventeen, but the only photo we have of him is from when he was twelve."

This was shocking Shield always has lots of information on everyone, how had this kid evaded them for so long? Fury passed around a file, as he had said there was almost nothing in it, it said that the kid's name was Perseus or Percy Jackson, that his birthday is August 18th; it said that the whereabouts of his father were unknown; the same for his first stepfather, His mother, and Second stepfather were deceased.

Destruction seemed to follow him, he had been present when several national monuments were damaged in explosions, he would be blamed for them but his name would always be cleared. As Fury had said the only picture in the file was of a smiling twelve-year-old boy with messy black hair and bright green eyes. Tony said, "He's just a kid, why would he stay with us much less become an Avenger?"

Fury never got a chance to answer because out of nowhere a teenager appeared in the room when I looked at him realized that he was the boy from the photograph only older, and as it seemed sadder. Just by looking at his face it was clear the happiness that he had in that photograph was long gone leaving behind the look of a boy who had been forced to grow up faster than he should have. His eyes were no longer just sea green; they also contained flecks of an orangey red colour almost like fire.

I thought I could see something else in those eyes as well, I thought they had the look of a soldier who had seen battle, and felt loss. But I told myself I was seeing things, there was no way that this boy could have been in a war he was only seventeen. When he had suddenly appeared Natasha had taken out her gun and pointed it at him. Fury told her to put it down and that this was the boy that would be staying with us. But Fury wasn't completely unfazed by Percy's sudden arrival; he said: "What are you, how could you do that!"

 the boy said, "Wow really warm welcome guys thanks a lot."

 Fury glared at him and Percy didn't even flinch. I had never seen anyone not flinch under Fury's glare. There was obviously something different about Percy but what I couldn't guess. Fury said, "Answer my question."

 Percy sighed and said, "this could take a while."

He started by saying "You know about the Greek myths right," we nodded where was he going with this? He said "Well they are all true"

 we were stunned but if it was true we still couldn't see why that had anything to do with him, or how he even knew that for that matter. Fury said, "how do you know that and what does it have to do with you?" 

 Percy continued he said, "Well if you know any of the myths you'll know that the gods often had children with mortals. they haven't exactly changed their habbits. "What do you think this has to do with me." Fury looked irritated that he was beating around the bush instead of getting straight to the point but he didn't say anything yet.

Bruce answered Percy's question, "Are you saying that you are a demigod?" 

 Percy replied, Yes that's exactly what I was getting at, I am Perseus Jackson, Son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the seas. I am also the Champion of Hestia and Blessed by Athena and Apollo."

 Clint said "Wow that's a lot of titles kid" 

Percy snorted he said, "If I told you all my titles we would be here all day." 

 Clint said, "what!"

 Percy waved him off and said, "that's a story for another time."

Hestia?" I asked because I'd heard the name before somewhere but I had no idea what she was or should I say is the goddess of.

 He sighed and muttered something about her always being forgotten. He said, "Hestia is the goddess of the hearth and home." 

I nodded, accepting the new information. He said, "to explain how I suddenly appeared in the room, the gods sent me here."

 I thought we all believed him until Tony yelled, "Prove it! Prove that what you are saying is true,"

 I had an open bottle of water in front of me and I watched as some of the water left the bottle, rose into the air and then headed toward Tony. When it was right above his head it dropped wetting his hair and face. Percy said, "Is that good enough for you Stark?"

Tony looked annoyed and didn't comment while the rest of us started laughing. Percy s waved his hand Tony was instantly dry. Percy said, "In case you don't believe the part about me being Hestia's champion this should prove it. I wondered what he was going to do this time. He held out his left hand and a small flame appeared on his hand. I can see why Fury wants this guy on our team, fire and water powers wow.

Fury spoke again he said, "Before I will officially accept you as the newest Avenger you have to answer one more question."

 Percy said "Okay shoot" Fury continued he said, "Are you some kind of terrorist because you have been blamed for various explosions and other damage to schools you have attended as well as national monuments."

 Percy sighed and said, "I was usually at the right place at the wrong time. Just like the gods are real so are all the monsters from Greek mythology, demigods have a scent that monsters can smell and they come for us and usually try to kill us. That's why we have to learn how to defend ourselves. Many demigods die when they are still teenagers and we usually never get the chance to live a normal life." When he spoke of how short demigods' lives usually are his face got even sadder looking I wondered if he was remembering friends he had lost.

He continued saying, "All of those supposed explosions at my schools or the Saint Louis arch incident were caused by monsters that attacked me. They were always the ones that caused the damage, not me. For example, the explosion in the Saint Louis arch was caused when I was fighting the chimera, and it breathes fire. That hole in the arch was caused when the chimera blew fire at me I dodged it so it blew a hole in the arch. When I knew I couldn't beat it I jumped out of the hole and landed in the Mississippi River. Due to my dad being Poseidon I wasn't killed on impact the moment I hit the water." 

Fury asked, "if what you say is true why have we never seen the monsters?"

Percy answered "The mist, it prevents mortals from seeing the truth because some people are just unable to comprehend the fact that the gods and monsters exist, I have heard of people going crazy after they learn that the person they dated was actually a Greek god or goddess. All of the gods and some demigods are able to manipulate the mist, so every time a monster attacked me at my school the mist would make the staff clear my name and make them think it was a gas explosion or something."

After Percy said that, Fury remained silent possibly thinking about this new information. Percy spoke again he said, "What I have just told you cannot become common knowledge. if everyone learned that the Greek gods and monsters still exist, well it wouldn't be pretty and the gods would probably kill us for letting the information get out." 

Fury said, "very well we will keep this information to ourselves." he glared at every single one of us except Percy of course until we nodded.

I stood and said, "You have introduced yourself to us so it is only right that we introduce ourselves to you, I'm Steve Rogers or more commonly known as Captain America. After I did that the others followed my lead, although Tony still looked irritated. I said, "Percy aren't you supposed to be staying for some time? Did you not bring anything with you?" Percy shrugged he said, "I'm assuming the gods sent my stuff to my room."

"How would they know what room you would be in?" Bruce asked.

 Percy shrugged again he said, "They're stalkers like that." 

 Thunder rumbled outside, we half expected Thor to show up, but then Percy said: "guys that's not Thor that's Zeus, guess he didn't like me calling the gods stalkers." 

 "I don't suppose he would" Bruce muttered. Shortly after this, we left the meeting room.

When we got back to the Avengers floor, Tony said, "Friday show Percy to his room,"

 Friday answered, "Of course Sir," 

Percy jumped and looked around when he heard Friday's voice he asked: "Who's that?" "My A.I. artificial intelligence," Tony answered. Percy didn't seem shocked or anything, I guess since he is a demigod he had heard of stranger things. Tony said, "We're ordering pizza; Friday will tell you when it gets here." Percy nodded and then followed Friday's instructions and found his room.

Of course, I had been surprised when Percy told us the Greek gods still exist, but it hadn't been too hard to believe since I already knew about Thor and the other Norse gods. learning about all those gods didn't change my beliefs when it came to Christianity, if anything, it made me more sure that the Christian God also exists and that he just hasn't revealed himself to us yet.
