👓 Chapter 1part 2....the new girl contd
Wren thought she saw a tinge of jealousy in Ian's eyes when Mona talked that way about Nathan.
But he immediately waved the feeling off, like he was used to it.
"Yeah, sure he is " he mirrored.
"So, you guys are three best friends huh? I had friends like you in my old school, you know. And I miss them "
"Really? Can you tell us about your school before you came here on a scholarship" Mona specified not knowing how she could afford to be here.
Their school didn't especially during second semester of final year. Her parents had to be star-spanged wealthy to be able to get her into the school or she had a scholarship.
"Transfer actually" she corrected leaving her even more puzzled.
"Oh, okay. "
"So, I think I deserve to know my friends too" Wren changed the subject to them.
"Well, I'm Ian Lopez. Only son of my parents, I have two Elder sisters and they're married. My dad owns a soap industry that I'd take over when I turned 21. That's 4 years from now, given I'd turn seventeen by March. My dad is late but my mom runs the company till I turn 21..so says the will. Actually, I didn't get to know my dad well since he died when I was just 7." He said with a sad look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry "Wren pitied him.. Not having a father figure while growing up was horrible enough. She didn't know what she would do without her father. She knows giving him pitiful looks wasn't helping matters but she couldn't help it.
How could this cute guy have no dad? Life wasn't fair.
Immediately she mentally slapped herself she couldn't believe she just thought of him as cute. She knew he liked Mona from what she had seen...
"Don't worry, Wren. I'm used to it " He forced a smile. He wasn't comfortable with the look of pity especially from a girl he just met. Mona had to come in, not liking the emotional air and wanting her friend to be bright again.
"Hello, its my turn now. I'm Mona... Williams I don't see the importance of saying my name since you both I'm know it..." Wren almost laughed at this.
"..I'm seventeen. Had my birthday on 21st January ,which means no more birthdays for me till we leave highschool. I have the busiest parents ever, I almost never see them worse still, they're separated. My dad owns an Insurance company while my mom is well my mom. She's America's top model, Charlotte McKenzie.. I'm sure you know her. She picked up her maiden name after she divorced my dad when I was 10. She's paid big and I don't see her except on TV. Well, I don't care about her since I have my dad, I love him so much and he loves me too. I love parties a whole lot. Speaking of parties, Holly Parker is having a party this weekend. Wanna come, Wren? "
"No, I don't do parties. Sorry "
"How boring... You're going to come, right Bestie ?" Ian shrugged lightly and Mona took that for an answer as she was smiling widely. Wren found her dramatic. She managed to lighten the mood with this. That was quite impressive, she was very extroverted, gene must've proven itself... Since her mom was a party person, so was her daughter.
Wren couldn't still believe Charlotte McKenzie was Mona's mom. Travis her brother had a major crush on her and she couldn't wait to spill it all out to her brother. Charlotte looked really young and had a lot of similarities with the girl before her now.
Sometimes Wren wished she was beautiful and extroverted. At least she would have been the reason Ian was displaying his gorgeous smile as he was doing now. Mona sure knows how to go about with people.
"We're going to visit Nathan after school today. Are you coming with us, Wren? " Mona asked just before the bell was rung.
"No, I'm sorry. I have Part time to get to"
"Ohh... Okay. Let's go "she answered still confused but this wasn't the time "What are you having now, Ian? " she asked Ian who had been busy with his phone. Then, he raised his eyebrows.
"History..." he answered sharply "I guess I have it with you guys. But I have to go now"
"Uhm, Ian can I save a seat for you? " Wren asked.
"Oh no, don't bother. Well, thanks for the offer, Wren." he replied, giving a smile and moved away.
Wren felt rejected but waved off the feeling as she left the cafeteria. Mona seemed to understand what was going on.
"So, how did you manage to get into the school since your parents are not well to do. " Mona broke the ice and Wren immediately felt bad for talking about her parents finances to some people she just met. She didn't want people looking down on her or seeing her as a charity case. Neither does she want to be treated differently.
"I don't want to talk about it "she dismissed it immediately, only to see Mona carry a sorry face.
"I'm sorry for talking that way. Its just that sometimes I can be really bitchy. I'm sorry."
"Its okay"she said
And they managed to be silent for what seemed like 5 seconds. She noticed Mona wasn't one to be quiet as she kept talking about the school and the party on Friday.
Wren so wasn't a party person, her parents also contributed to this, they don't let her go for parties, not like she ever wanted to go anyways. Travis was a person for parties and often sneaked out of the house to attend one. Whenever he was caught, which was always, he was grounded. This however did not stop him. He always had a thing for enjoying his teen age to its fullest.. Blah blah blah..
News flash, Travis was barely a teenager.
Wren believed that parties was a place where young people go to waste their lives.. How would someone enjoy a place where they always got into trouble, where people get drugged and drunk and do things they would regret the next day, a place where people got into fights, get arrested and girls lost their virginity. She so totally hated parties and hadn't attended and don't see herself attending one in the future.
Instead, she loved reading a whole lot, spent so much time watching movies on Netflix and then part time. She was very comfortable with her schedule. You may call her boooring but she doesn't give a damn. What a nerd she was. Suddenly, she ran into somebody and her books fell off.
She was clumsy too...
She looked up and her eyes met the cold green eyes of the guy from English class earlier. Immediately, she got mad. Instead of apologizing, he was frowning down at her.
God, does this boy do anything but frown?
The worse thing was that her phone got damaged in the process, getting her even more angry, she wasn't going to get another one till the next year.
"God, for chrissakes don't you know how to apologize? Because... "
"We're sorry " Mona apologized instead, cutting her off and she wondered why.
Holy Molly
"What the hell, Mona. Are you seriously apologizing to him? This is totally crazy... This jerk has to know his place..."
"Could you please quit the act? You'd be a fine actress. I think I've noticed you enough today, you don't have to work so hard" he rolled his eyes and walked off with his friends one of them which she noticed was the one he sat next to in class. She was dumbfounded at how blunt he was. She had to act fast now
"Hey... " she tried to challenge but Mona stopped her. "Can you imagine that dim wit? I can't believe you actually ap...."
"Shh.. Babe chill. People are watching be careful "
That was when she noticed she just created a scene. She hated attention but she was too angry now to recoil into her shell. Instead, she stomped out angrily while Mona ran to catch up with her.
There was so much Wren doesn't know and she was afraid for her. She finally met up with her, breathing heavily.. She hated running. She knew Wren was very mad now and needed explanations. She was here to give her that..
"Easy, girl,easy"
"Did you just say easy? Why would I take it easy? Who does that jerk think he is? Omg he has guts... I can't still believe you apologized to him, God, I thought you were my friend! Who... "
"That was Tristan freaking Caves! "
"So? Is he some kind of king and I have to leak his feet? I don't care whoever he is, neither do I care about him.. He should get off my track! This school is..."
"Look, Wren. This guy is capable of ruining your life in this school. I think what's best for you is to act on low key. Don't get in his way. "
"I'm actually scared now, Mona, I'm gonna pee" she rolled her eyes "Ruin me? Like hell I'm going to stay here and listen to that bullshit."
"Be careful, Wren. He is authority. There's a lot you don't know about this school, and you're still too new to understand." she sighed and continued.. This time it was mostly like she was whispering. She looked around and lowered her voice, "His father owns the school and one snap of his fingers, you could be out of this school."
Mona saw the terror in her eyes and decided to reduce the tension here. She gave a sly smile when she continued,
"... he's the hottest guy in school and the school's star boy. Everyone loves him and are willing to do just anything to please him. He's like a god, Wren, don't you get it? The school practically worships him even if it meant to sweep some new girl under carpet. You don't need me to tell you what he does to people that cross his way especially folks like you ..."
"Folks like me? What does that even mean? " she cut her short
"Sorry, I didn't mean it that way. But you get a glimpse of what I mean, right? He is very dangerous, especially his bitchy girl friend "
"Well, I don't care about her or him. That he's rich doesn't make him Almighty. For all I care, he's stupid... "
"Wren... " Mona sighed. Tired of her stubbornness
"Okay, I get it. Can we stop this conversation now ? Let's get to class, we're late for History. Thanks to a certain stupid...? OK don't give me that look"
Mona rolled her eyes for the umpteenth time today. And Wren was going to warn her later not to do that anymore, only if she knew how she looked when she did that.
*****
Phew! Finally
What do you think about Tristan and Wren guys?
