Chapter 3
Chapter 3, Welcome to Lowell High
I was taking my time, listening to music as I made my way to the bus stop. I was early anyway.
Then suddenly a bike zoomed right past me. At full speed. I yelped as I jumped back.
"Hey!--" I said before noticing the biker was already getting away. "Watch where you're going!!"
I had just started my day, and it was getting bad already. Yay life.
...
After the bus ride to school, I had finally arrived. I made my way inside, trying very hard not to meet the gazes of others, muttering about me, the new girl.
The school was massive & the ceiling was so high you would probably need 3 ladders just to touch the ceiling. I noticed a lady behind a desk in the corner. I'm guessing she worked here. I walked towards the desk & stood in front of her.
"Hello there, how can I help?" she smiled.
"I'm uh new here. My name is Ashlyn White. I'm guessing my mum signed me up like 2 weeks ago." I replied nervously.
"Ashlyn White, hm, Miss new girl," she muttered as she typed away on the computer in front of her.
After a while, she looked up and smiled.
"Yep, you're here. Here's your timeline. Thank you for joining Lowell High," she smiled as she handed.
"Thanks," I smiled as I took the paper from her. I checked my timeline to see that my homeroom was 221B.
I walked around, in an attempt to find my homeroom. Instead, I got myself even more lost than I was before. I passed by a group of students as I walked into an interior courtyard.
"Hey...you okay? You look a little like a deer in the headlights." a voice spoke from behind me. I turned around to see a girl about my age, with brown hair, smiling at me.
"I, uh yeah. You can say I'm a bit lost." I laughed nervously.
"You sure look like you need help." she smiled a little. She had her eyes as if she wasn't quite awake yet.
"I have absolutely no idea where my homeroom is. 221B? Actually, how many rooms does this school even have?" I asked as I looked around. The school was really huge.
"Wait...that's my homeroom too!" she exclaimed. "Come with me. You don't wanna be late on your first day."
"Ohh I just realized, we didn't even introduce ourselves yet," she stopped in her tracks. "My name's Chelsea."
"Ashlyn," I said.
"Nice name, now let's go!" she said. I chuckled as she dragged me through the packed hallways.
She opened the door as I entered. Most of the seats were occupied. Everyone was talking among themselves.
"Hey I saved you a seat," a guy with brown hair, called out from the middle row. Chelsea took me along with her as she approached him. The boy looked between the two of us as if asking Chelsea who I was.
"Lucas, meet the new girl Ashlyn, and Ashlyn this is Lucas," Chelsea said. I looked at Lucas and waved a small hi to him. For some reason, he looked very familiar to me, as if I had seen him before.
"You can take this seat," Chelsea pointed at the seat next to her reserved one.
"Thanks," I muttered as I sat next to her.
"Hey...you look a little familiar. Do I know you?" I asked Lucas after a while.
"Huh?! Uh...no! Of course not! You recently transferred here, right?" he asked hastily.
"Uh yeah," I replied.
"I've been here at San Fransisco for my entire life. We can't possibly know each other," he said.
"Yeah...that's true. But I don't know why, but it feels like I saw you somewhere before." I said. I just couldn't put my finger on where I had seen him. Nevertheless, I pushed that thought aside as our homeroom teacher entered the class.
"You must be the new girl! Come introduce yourself!" Miss Nisha, our homeroom teacher, beamed at me. If someone had appeared and kidnapped me at that moment, I'd be much more relieved. I walked up to the front of the classroom as all the eyes were upon me.
"Hi," I waved a little to the class. And I was greeted with silence. Great, absolutely great. "My name's Ashlyn White, and uh I'm new here. You can call me Ashlyn, or even Ash if you'd prefer. A-and I like reading books."
I looked back at Miss Nisha to indicate that I was done introducing myself. She smiled at me and nodded as if telling me to return back to my seat. I sighed as I made my way back.
"All right, now for the morning announcements..."
...
And soon before I knew it, it was lunch time.
