Whole chapter is a flashback in Naruto's POV. It is about his bond with Hinata. Naruto is about four in this story.

I am staggering home tonight from a particularly bad beating. I am burned, bruised, bloodied, battered, swollen, and anything else you can think of. I eventually reach a lake. There I hear soft, gentle singing. I have never heard anything like this before. I walk slowly around a corner and see a small girl that looks my age with dark blue hair and pale eyes. I wash up so I don't look like a zombie, and then I sit on the riverbank. The girl walks up to me.
"A-are y-y-you o-okay?" The girl asks. I recoil in fear.
"Please don't hurt me!" I say as I curl up into a ball. The girl looks at me curiously.
"I'm not going to hurt you. Do you want to play?" She asks. I am confused.
"What is playing?" I ask.
"It's where you have fun with your friends!" She says happily.
"What is 'fun'? What are 'friends'?" I ask.
"Fun is something that makes you feel good, and friends are people you care about! I want to be your friend!" The nice girl says.
"O-okay." I say.
"My name is Hinata Hyuuga! What is your name?"
"My name is Naruto Uzumaki Namikazie." I say.
"You are the son of the Hokage? I didn't know he had a son!" She exclaims.
"He does have me, but he hates me, and the villagers beat me up every day because I have the Kyuubi inside me. But the Kyuubi is actually nice!" I say. She covers her mouth.
"That's so cruel!" She says with tears in her eyes.
"Be happy! You are my first friend, so I want to play with you!" I say. Through the night we play and play. We play tag and hide and seek (I was really good at that one) and other games. It was my first good memory.

NEXT DAY

I was walking in the forest when I heard something. I went to it. It was some bullies surrounding Hinata!
"Hey! Don't you dare touch her!" I say.
"Yeah? And who's gonna stop us, Demon? Not you!" Says the leader. This makes me mad. They kick Hinata and call her White Eyes.
"That's it! You can call me names! But if you dare call my best friend names I will punish you! I say. One throws a punch. I dodge, and uppercut him in the stomach. Another one comes up behind me, and I back kick him in the face. The fight continues and ends with my victory. I am bruised and battered. Hinata looks up at me with admiring eyes. I help her up.
"Who are you? Why did you save me?" She asks. She probably couldn't make out my facial features since it was the dark of night. I have excellent night vision, so that's why I could recognize her.
"Oh, you probably couldn't see well last night! I'm Naruto Uzumaki Namikazie!" I say. Her eyes widen. Then they soften.
"Alright!" She says, "let's play!"
Third POV
Over the months, Naruto and Hinata played together every day. They became best friends. He told Hinata when he was leaving, and he told her when he came back. They continued to hang out even with all Naruto's SS ranked missions. He told her he was Fox. They had feelings for each other, yet didn't tell anyone.

THIS WILL NOT BE A NARUHINA BASED FANFIC. HOWEVER, I WILL BE WRITING A NARUHINA BRANCH TO THE STORY IN THE FUTURE.
