Chapter 57
After a little magic and hark work, Akina's room was finally just the way she wanted it. She wasn't able to make it like her apartment at Fairy Tails but she tried her best to make it look comfortable. Satisfied with what she had done Akina changed out of her school uniform and into a tanktop and some shorts before she headed down to the common area. As she walked down she saw that the girls had met up with each other.
"Hey Hayashi! You done with your room?" Uraraka asked.
Akina nodded, "Yep! I just finished."
"Awesome!" Suddenly she gasped, "You know what we should totally go around and look at each others rooms? I think it'd be tons of fun!" Hagakure suggested, and the rest of the girls glanced at each other before nodding, then they headed to to common area to see if any of the boys had finished their rooms.
"Hey boys, All done with your rooms?" Ashido asked.
"Yup, we're just unwinding now." Kaminari said.
"Well the girls and I were talking and..." Mina started.
"We have a great idea!" Hagakure continued.
"Let's go 'round and see who has the coolest room!" At the suggestion Akina saw some of the boys pale- specifically Tokoyami, M*neta, and Midoriya.
"Yeah, sounds like fun!" Satou said, "I'm down."
"Same here. I'm interested to see how everyone else decorated their rooms." Kirishima said.
"Awesome! Then let's head to the first room, which would be Midoriya's!" Mina exclaimed and the class started to head to the second floor, though as they got to the door Midoriya pushed to the front of the crowd and stood in front of his door, waving his arms around in a panic.
"No, wait, you can't go in there! Please, it's not fit for-" He begged only to be nudged to the side by Mina as the pinkette opened the door and stepped inside.
The moment Akina stepped inside she had to stop herself from laughing. She expected it to be covered in All Might merchandise from top to bottom but she highly underestimated how much merchandise the boy actually had of his idol.
The next room was Tokoyami's and while he wasn't as vocal as Midoriya he still stood in front of his door to prevent anyone from stepping inside. Eventually Mina and Hagakure pushed him out of the way and the class stepped inside. Looking at his room Akina couldn't help but be reminded of Rouge.
Aoyama's room was a polar opposite from Tokoyami's room and Akina could of swore she almost went blind because of how bright it was.
"This is turning out to be really fun!" Uraraka exclaimed as she stepped out of Aoyama's room. "The last person on this floor is..." She turned and looked towards the door at the end of the hallway, stopping in her tracks as she saw M*neta peeking out of his room before walking away. "So, the third floor?"
On the third floor there was Ojiro, Iida, Kaminari, and Koda on the boys side and Jiro and Hagakure on the girl's side. Ojiro's room was the first on the third floor, and from what Akina saw it was pretty ordinary. Nothing much stood out. Iida's room was filled with books. It almost reminded her of Levy's apartment but much more organized. Akina didn't even know what to think of Kaminari's room. Nothing matched and it was a mess of colors. It almost hurt to look at. Koda's room was refreshing to see after Kaminari's. He had brought a small white rabbit with him, which ended up winning most of the girls over.
Once they left Koda's room, the boys who's rooms had been judged all grouped up, a gloom surrounding them.
"Man, this sucks. I feel so judged right now." Kaminari grumbled.
"hey, what a coincidence. I don't feel great. At all." Ojiro said.
"Same here." Tokoyami grumbled.
"Et moi." Aoyama muttered.
"That's because the boys are the only ones who are getting picked on. They said it ws a contest to see who has the coolest dorm room. Well, what about them?" M*neta said as he pointed towards the girls. "We have to see the girls' rooms to tell which one's the best. Their interior design skills should be held to the same standard as ours. Maybe even higher. Show us those dorms!"
The atmosphere suddenly grew dark, and even though it was a clear night out Akina could of sworn she heard a crack of thunder.
"I'm into it!" Mina exclaimed clapping her hands together.
"Yeah, let's do it!" Akina agreed. "it's only fair, right?"
"Okay, then, so what're the rules? Are we figuring out who has the best taste in the class, or just the overall coolest?"
"Uh this doesn't have to be a contest." Ojiro said.
"Aw, what's the harm in a little competition?" Akina asked.
With you in mind the dorm building could be destroyed. The class all thought as the looked over at Akina.
"I say we finish off with the boys dorms, then we do the girls!" Hagakure said.
"Sounds great! Let's head to the fourth floor then!" Mina exclaimed.
On the fourth floor were Shoji, Bakugo, and Kirishima's rooms. Though apparently Bakugo had though the whole thing was lame and ended up heading to bed early so they would only be looking at Shoji's and Kirishima's rooms. Kirishima's room was... manly. Looking around Akina couldn't help but be reminded of Elfman. If he were here she felt that the wizard's dorm room would of looked very similar to Kirishima's. Maybe add a large bird cage instead of action figures and a few more decorations and it'd be almost a mirror image. Moving on, the class went to the next room, Shoji's was emptier than Ojiro's, the teen had even taken out his bed frame.
On the fifth floor on the boy's side was Satou, Todoroki, and Sero. Sero's room looked to most put together so far. Everything looked so well put together and it all matched, not to mention the room looked extremely exotic and unique. Todoroki's room was a shock. Somehow he had renovated the entire thing to be a classical Japanese style. The next room was the last of the guys- Satou's room. It was pretty plain, other than the cooking utensils scattered on a counter top.
"Mmm, something smells amazing." Akina said, her nose twitching as she smelt the air, a sweet scent encasing the entire room.
"Oh, crap, I forgot about that!" Satou exclaimed. Apparently he had baked a cake for the class and was going to glaze it and give it to them but since they were doing the room competition he just gave them slices right there. They were heavenly.
After finishing the cake, the girls headed back to the common area before heading to the girls side of the dorms, they started with the second floor, where Jiro and Hagakure were staying. Jiro's room was punk rock central. She had tons of instruments lining the walls and a shelf full of records. Hagakure's room was just what Akina had expected. It was pink, girly, and extreamly cute.
On the third floor was Mina and Uraraka. Mina's room had a lot of hot pink and black, but everything tied together and it looked pretty cute. Uraraka's room was pretty plain- she had brought in a few comfort items from her home as well as a TV and fan.
After Uraraka's room the group headed up to the fifth floor, where Akina, Yaoyorozu, and Tsuyu were staying. Though apparently Tsuyu wasn't feeling well and had closed herself up in her room, meaning they would start with Yaoyorozu. Her room was incredibly cluttered. Apparently she had miscalculated and her bed ended up taking up practically the entire room by itself.
"Alright, next room is mine!" Akina exclaimed as she stepped out of her room and headed to the room directly next to Yaoyorozu's. "I made sure it was absolutly perfect so I hope you all like it! Oh and feel free to take your shoes off if you want to walk around!" She opened her door and stepped inside.
"No way, are we still even in the dorms?" Kamiari asked as he looked inside. "Or were we somehow transported into a fantasy forest?!"
Akina had used her magic to make her room look more like a forest. She had used her magic to create a soft moss-like grass grow along the ground and created a few trees and bushes around the room. If it weren't for the walls peeking through anyone would assume that they had just stepped into some kind of forest.
"Hey, uh, where's your bed?" Uraraka asked as she looked around.
"Hm? It's up there." Akina said, pointing towards the ceiling where her bed was being held in midair by some branches reaching from the ceiling.
"Aren't you scared you might fall out of it?"
"Nope! I actually feel more comfortable with the bed up like this. Trying to sleep on something with a solid foundation is pretty difficult for me. Besides the branches are close enough together to catch me before I fall."
"Aside from the tress and bushes there's really nothing else around." Mina asked.
"Hm, oh I keep most of my stuff in the trees." She snapped her fingers and a vine holding a book reached out of the leaves. "It's much easier just to keep everything in one place, don't you think?" In all truth she had created a pocket dimension within the leaves of one of the trees. She couldn't put weapons or full sets of armor within her pocket dimensions like Erza but she could store books and other small objects.
"Woah, this grass is, like, insanely soft. I feel like I could just lay down in it and fall asleep." Kaminari said crouching down and placing his hands in the grass. "Why'd you make a whole forest, though?"
"I've always felt more comfortable in a forest so I thought I'd try to make this look a lot like the place I grew up in when I was a kid."
"Aw, so you made the forest that was behind your house?" Uraraka asked, "That's so cute!"
"Oh, no. I grew up in a forest."
"Like, a cabin in the woods...?" Sero asked.
"Nope! A forest!"
"I feel like I should be surprised but I kind of expected that." Jiro said, the rest of the class nodding in agreement.
With that the class had finished looking around at everyone's dorm rooms and they headed back to the common area where they would decide the winner of the competition. After everyone casted their vote and Yaoyorozu and Mina counted them they started to announce the winner.
"All right, everybody. We've got the results for the winner right here! And now. without further ado, here are the results of the first Best Room competition, minus Bakuog and Tsu. Drumroll please!" The class waited as Mina unfolded the paper that held the name of the winner. "With a total of six votes, the overwhelming winner of this totally awesome contest is... Sato Rikido!"
"Huh?"
"Congrats sugar man!" Akina said with a grin, then let out a small yawn. "I think I might head to bed. I'm pretty tired." She said, and as she started to walk away she heard someone call out for her.
"Hey! Todoroki, Hayashi, wait a minute." Looking over her shoulder Akina saw that Uraraka was the one who had called out to the two of them. "Deku and Iida, you, too. Yaoyorozu, Kirishima, you have a sec? It's really important." As Uraraka gathered the named students they all headed outside where, much to their surprise, Tsuyu was waiting for them. "Tsu said she had something she wanted to tell everyone."
"You guys know I'm pretty straightforward, and always speak what's on my mind. But sometimes... I don't know. I'm at a loss. Remember what I said back at the hospital? When you were talking about the rescue?"
Akina thought back to when Tsuyu had said that going after Bakugo and breaking the rules would make them no better than villains, and by the looks on her classmate's faces she knew they were remembering the same thing as well.
"Yeah. Every word." Midoriya said.
"My heart was hurting. And the things I said must've upset you."
Uraraka leaned forwards and put a comforting hand on Tsuyu's back. "It's okay, Tsu."
"Despite my warning, you still went and saved Bakugo. Seeing Aki on TV fighting against those villains... then hearing that you five had gone out to save Bakugo... I had thought I stopped you. But it turns out I was worthless. A complete failure. And suddenly I had no idea what to say. I didn't think I deserved to joke around and have fun with everyone like usual." She looked up at the group and Akina watched as tears fell down the frog-like girl's face. "But... it made me... so sad to be without you. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Even if I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to be feeling. I wanted you to know so we can hand out and talk and have a good time again."
"It's not just you who things that. Everyone... felt pretty bad and... wanted things to be back the way they used to be before." Uraraka said.
"You just did what you thought was best, besides if you hadn't said what you did things could of gone differently, these guys could of been way more reckless than they were. Back home some of my friends went out and did a job they weren't allowed to do. Another friend of mine, Erza, and I had to go and rescue them before they got themselves killed. After we got back both Erza and gramps scolded the four of them until the sun went down. But you know what? The very next day we were all friends again and everything was back to normal." Akina smiled and placed a hand softly on her shoulder. "You were just looking out for us, Tsu, you shouldn't feel bad for being concerned about us."
"Aki..." Tsuyu said, sniffling.
Akina grinned, "Your compassion is going to help you be hero, I just know it."
