In a small town in the countryside very scary events were going on within the area. A killer given the name The Rosebud Killer was wreaking havoc on the town. Everyone was in fear of the murderer as the police couldn't find out who the killer was. All they knew is that the killer would leave a rosebud within the eye of their victim.

However one woman wasn't afraid of this killer, as her home was pretty isolated and had a wall around her property. The woman's name was Stephany, or Steph for short.

She had once lived in the house with her parents who were two married men. However about two years before the killer surfaced her dads disappeared without a trace. She's been living alone in the house ever since, working from home and only chatting with her cousin Carolus. Carolus however lived in the city so they mostly talked over the phone, video chat, text, or email. However one of them would come visit the other in person every month so they had a good relationship.

On this day Stephany was in her house cooking breakfast as her TV played the news as the kitchen and living room didn't have walls separating them. So the TV was in full view of the kitchen, allowing anyone from the two rooms to watch it. Right now the TV was playing the news and it was covering the latest victim of The Rosebud Killer.

"Last night a twenty-five year old woman named Cleo Nan was found dead, with a rosebud stabbed in her eye. This yet again is another case of The Rosebud Killer, who has still yet to be found. The victim's body seemed to first have her stomach stabbed with a pair of scissors, then from the bruises on her neck it seems as though the Killer also tried strangulation. Then as they normally do the Rosebud Killer stabbed a rosebud into the victims eyes while they were still alive." The news woman explained.

"God dam, can that killer get any more brutal? Then again why did they start killing in the first place?" Stephany questioned herself as she threw her sunny side up eggs and fried bacon on her plate.

She then walked over to her fridge and got out a bottle of fruit juice that she liked. Once she had her drink she sat down at the table and dug in her meal. As she was eating the news moved on from the bad stuff to the weather to making the atmosphere a little better.

"In other news the weather looks like it'll be getting colder the more we go into fall." The news woman explained.

Stephany just lets the news become part of the background noises as she eats and relaxes. Her phone started ringing so she got it out of her pants pocket and saw it was her cousin. Stephany smiled at this as she was hoping to talk to him for a bit before she started work. So she answered the call and heard Carolus's calming voice on the other side of the line.

"Hey Cous how are you doing?" Carolus asked.

"I'm doing fine, I'm just having breakfast before I get to work." Steph explained.

"That's good to hear, I just got some coffee and now I'm off to my office." Carolus explained.

"Cool, good to know, I wish you a good day at work." Steph said.

"Thanks... hey I also heard the news on my car radio. Are you sure you don't want to come into the city and live with me?" Carolus asked, making his worry clear as day.

Stephany sighed at this as she had a feeling that Carolus would ask this question. Ever since the Rosebud Killer's killings began Carolushad been trying to convince her to sell the house and move in with him. However Stephany didn't want to leave the home where she had lived with her dads as she missed them greatly. She also believed that they'd show up again one day and when they did they'd return home. When that day came she'd be waiting there for them with open arms. However her cousin and other relatives doubted that would ever happen, as they haven't been seen in a long time.

"Sorry Cous but I'm comfortable here, I don't wanna leave this place and move to a completely new environment." Stephany explained.

"*Sigh* Alright, I just want to let you know I'm looking out for you. I just want you to be safe, after all you haven't left your house that often after your dad's gone missing." Carolus explained.

"I know, but they have to be out there... they just have to be. I don't want to just sell this house without seeing them one last time, also moving to a new environment can be incredibly stressful for me. So I'm just fine where I am right now, but thanks for looking out for me." Stephany said grateful towards Carolus.

"Anything for my family. I'm going to go now, oh and I'm gonna come over there after work so want to meet up at a restaurant later?" Carolus asked.

"Sure I had enough for some takeout. I'll see you then, love you cous." Stephany said.

"Love you too, can't wait to see you as well." Carolus said and ended the call.

After the call ended Stephany finished up her breakfast and once she was done she got to work. She sat at her computer and began doing the work she was assigned to for the day. Stephany was grateful that she got a job where she could work from home as she felt the most comfortable here. She'd also loved how her house was surrounded by nature and plantlife as she always felt as if she was somehow connected to them.

After many hours had passed, Stephany was finally done with her work. She looked at the time and saw that it was now 7:00 PM. The sky outside also showed the time as it was now dark outside and stars were showing in the sky.

"Well Carolus is also off of work so I should call him up and ask where he was going." Stephany said to herself.

She got out her phone again and dialed her cousin's number as she got up and put on a jacket. After the phone rang a few times Carolus picked up and began talking to her.

"Hey Cous what's up?" Carolus asked.

"I'm good I just got done with my work, and I wanted to ask where you thought of going for dinner?" Stephany asked.

"Oh I wanted to go to that new Pizza place that opened up in your area. I also have someone I want you to meet." Carolus explained.

"Really? I can't wait to see who it is!" Stephany exclaimed excitedly to see what Carolus had to show her.

So she collected her purse that had her wallet and keys in it, then left the house. She locked the door to her house and went to her car. Once in her car she put the key into the ignition and started it up, once it was started and drove off to the restaurant. After about an hour Stephany arrived at the new pizza place that Carolus was talking about. She parked her car and went inside the restaurant, when she got in she saw that there were a few people in the place.

Stephany started looking around for Carolus and soon spotted him sitting at a table with another woman. Curious to find out who the woman was, Stephany walked up to the table and tapped Carolus on the shoulder.

"Huh? Oh hey Stephany, go on and sit down. I'll introduce you to a little someone I've wanted you to meet for a while." Carolus explained.

"Alright, let's see who this woman is." Stephany said then sat down across from her cousin and the woman.

"Alright, Stephany I like you to meet, Avery, my girlfriend and now fiancée!" Carolus exclaimed happily.

"Hello, it's nice to meet you in person Avery, Carolus has told me much about you." Avery said politely.

"Oh! Hello, it's nice to meet you. I'm surprised to hear this Carol. After all, you never told me you were dating someone." Stephany explained, surprised to hear the news.

"Hehe well, I did want to surprise you! I've already got my parents' blessings, so all I had left was to introduce you two." Carolus explained.

"Well, you have my full support, as long as you're happy." Stephany explained.

"Awesome! Now why don't we all have some pizza and chat about the wedding." Carolus suggested.

"That sounds great. I'm pretty hungry so I'm game for pizza." Stephany said.

"Me too! And I'm so happy that you approve of me! I was worried that you wouldn't like me." Avery explained.

"Well Carolus seems to be happy with you, so I'm happy he has you." Stephany explained.

Avery smiled and the three went on to order a pizza and discuss the wedding plans. After a few hours Stephany looked at the time and saw that it was now midnight, so she decided to call it a night.

"Hey I'm gonna go home now. It's pretty late so I'm gonna head home and get some sleep." Stephany explained.

"Alright, and hey cous please be careful. With the Rosebud Killer out on the loose I'm worried about you." Carolus explained, showing his worry.

"Don't worry I'll be fine. Now I'll see you two later, and you both be safe on your way home." Stephany said.

She then got up and left the shop to head back home, so she could sleep.

"Hey Carolus is she alright?" Avery asked, showing the same kind of worry for her future cousin-in-law.

"Yeah, she's just been pretty private and isolated when her dad's disappeared." Carolus explained.

"Oh... I don't know what to think of that." Avery said.

"Well, you don't have to think or say anything about it. I just wish she'd come and live with me in the city as I feel like she'd be safer." Carolus explained.

"Yeah with the Rosebud killer on the loose, I don't blame you. After all, they have been targeting random houses in this area. Mostly because they're more isolated so it'll be easier to break in and kill that way." Avery explained.

"Yeah, after all with less people around there's a less likely chance the police will be called and arrive while the killer is still in the house." Carolus explained.

"Well don't worry honey, from what you said about Steph she's a smart lady. I'm sure she'll be alright, and if anyone tries to hurt her then you'll stop it, you are a cop after all." Avery explained.

"Yeah, and you'll find out who the Rosebud Killer is, you are a detective." Carolus explained.

The couple smiled and kissed before they decided to go home as well. While they didn't have work they still wanted to get up early and plan their wedding.

Stephany meanwhile drove back home and was lost in thought. Her mind wasn't really on anything as she felt like things were just fine as they were. However she would like it if her dads were back with her and there wasn't a killer on the loose.

Stephany soon arrived home after taking a few shortcuts, she got out of her car and went up to her door. When she got to her door, her foot hit something, she looked down and saw that there was a bokay of roses on the welcome mat. Stephany picked up the flowers and saw that there was a note attached to it. She opened it up and began reading its content as she was curious to see who would give such a gift to her.

The note read:

Eyes Green as grass, hair blond as a sunflower. Your beauty is intoxicating, I could never get enough of you. Everything about you is perfect, and you are perfect. More gifts will come and I hope you'll love them!

Love, your secret admirer.

After reading the note Stephany was curious as to who this secret admirer was. She lived alone and worked from home, she also hardly left the house so she couldn't think of who would give her this. However she did love the roses as they were freshly grown and beautiful, so she unlocked the door and went inside to rest up for the night.

As Stephany was doing this a figure watched her from the trees. The figure's hair was completely green and his eyes were also green, however his iris was in the shape of leaves and the whites of his eyes were brown like dirt. He looked at Stephany with a psychotic smile on his face as she went inside her house.

"Hehe, Oh Steph my little flower. I'm so happy you keep on rejecting the offer your cousin gives you. If you had accepted it... well I would've been forced to go to the city and kill him. Even if I'd be weaker there due to my powers, I'm so happy I found you at last! I've been so lonely in that lab, I never thought someone else like me existed, but here I am! And to make it even better you're the most beautiful girl I have ever seen!" The stranger said.

He then saw the lights of the first floor turn off and then the ones to Stephany's room turn on. He then looked into the binoculars and saw Stephany was taking her clothes off. He tried his best to not just jump into the room and smother her with his own body and love. The stranger told himself he could wait and the two of them would be living together happily with children like the both of them.

"Oh Stephany, no matter how many times I've seen you change it's always the same, you're so beautiful. However it is sad that you don't know what you truly are, your dads kept you from reaching your full potential. So I had to take care of them, and no one would find them! Hehe once you've unlocked your powers you'll be like me and we'll kill more and more!" The stranger exclaimed.

Once Stephany was in her pajamas, had turned the lights out, and went to sleep, the stranger jumped down from the tree. He looked at the house and smiled before leaving the area and going into the forest. He fantasizes about his future with Stephany and their family, excited to have others like the two of them in the world.

He also fantasizes about making everyone who had made him go through so much pain pay for it. He planned to kill them all and maybe some of their family, to get his sweet delicious revenge.
