*Griffin POV*
Today's the concert and the day where Nell and I take that next step in our relationship hopefully. I roll over in bed and see Nell staring at me.
"Good morning" I say
"Morning" she says
I kiss her forehead then get out of bed. I go to the bathroom and get ready. Once I'm done I walk out and see Nell waiting, already dressed and ready to go.
"I'm coming with you" she says
"Alright. Well let's head out then. Chad said he's bringing doughnuts this morning" I say
"Alright" she says
We leave her house and head to the car. I get in the drivers seat and head to the office. I get there and I'm last yet again. We get out of the car and go inside.
"You guys should make the time to arrive later and then maybe I'll show up on time" I say before Caleb can speak
"Yeah yeah yeah. Good morning Nell" Caleb says
"Good morning Caleb. I heard there were doughnuts" Nell says
"Over with Fallon and Kelsey" Chad says
Nell walks off and I sit at my desk. I pull out my laptop and start looking through things. I close my laptop and see the guys looking at me.
"What" I ask
"How do you want to you know tonight" Chad asks
"I don't know. She doesn't really have a favorite song so I don't know" I say
"We can sing just the way you are. I know the guitar part and we can all sing it or only Spencer can sing it" Joey says
"I like that idea but let's all sing it. Joey can do Kyle's parts and I can do Alan's" I say
"Perfect" Caleb says
"Boys we're going to get lunch. Play nicely and maybe we'll bring you back some too" Fallon says
"Yes dear" chad says
They leave and we work on planning a few videos that we have to record. They come back two hours later and with food. Joey goes over and takes the food from then and passes all of it out.
"Hey Griff, Sam called saying that a case popped up. He is taking Aidan into the field with him but Eric is with Luke so Sam needs me there. I should still be able to come to the concert though" Nell says
"Ok. Be careful" I say
"She only sits behind a computer. Why do you tell her to be careful" Chad asks
"Because. I say it to make sure that she stays safe and it eases my mind because I feel like one day I'm not going to say it and ops is going to get targeted" I say
"That's understanding" Caleb says
We finish our lunch and go back to working on some stuff. An hour later, I get a call from Eric.
G-Hey Eric what's up? I thought you were with Luke
E-I was. But Nell needed help in Ops with the case.
G-ok. So what's up
E-so we have the suspect. Well we know who the suspect is but Sam and Aiden are still on their way to the person. Do you think you could help.
G-ok. But where is the person at
E-you know the hotel a block from your studio
G-yeah
E-they're there. Floor three. Room 317.
G-ok.
E-Nell says to be careful.
G-tell her I will
I hang up and the guys look at me.
"I'll be back." I say
"Griffin please be careful" Caleb says
"I will" I say
"I'll come as your back up" Joey says
"I'm okay Joey. But thanks" I say
I leave the office and go to my car. I grab my gun and place it in the band of my pants and then I job the one block. I go in the hotel and take the stairs to the third floor. I knock on the door of room 315 and let in. I go to the balcony and climb over to the balcony next door. I look in and see the guy. He sees me and starts firing. I hit the deck and grab my gun. He stops firing and I shoot back some. We exchange fire for a bit then the guy falls to the ground. I look and spot Sam. He looks at me and I nod my head. I get up and go inside the room. Sam and Aidan come over to me.
"You sure you're okay" he asks
"Yeah I'm just a bit sore" I say
"Griff a bullet grazed your shoulder" Aidan says
I look at my right shoulder and see blood.
"Oh. That makes sense on why I'm sore" I say
"You should head to the hospital and get it fixed up" Sam says
"I'm okay. I'll just have the EMTs patch me up" I say
Sam shakes his head and we leave the hotel. We walk over to the ambulance and we keep some small talk going as I get fixed up. My phone then rings.
G-hello
N-are you waiting for me to call you or do I have to call you myself each time you get hurt
G-I'm fine Nell. It's only a graze
N-I don't care if it's a splinter. I still want to know that you're okay
G-Alright. Hey you coming back to the office then
N-I'm going to meet you all at the venue
G-ok
I hang up and Sam just laughs at me.
"She'll always worry about you. Michelle would call me almost every hour just to make sure I was Alright after I'd get hurt. Even if it was just a graze" Sam says
"Yeah mom did worry about you a lot" Aidan says
"It was her job. She worried about you too" Sam says
Once I'm all patched up Sam and Aidan give me a ride to the office. I go in and Kelsey and Fallon walk over. They inspect me and spot the bandage that is showing a bit from on my shoulder.
"What the heck happened Griffin" Fallon asks
"It's just a grazed bullet" I say
"You said you would be careful" Kelsey says
"I was. I didn't die or get seriously injured did I?" I ask
"Yeah but you still got hurt" Fallon says
"I'm alright. Now we need to leave so we can get to the venue in time" I say
"Unca Giff " Emmett says
I take him from Kelsey and he gives me a sloppy kiss.
"Here's my favorite two year old" I say
"He's the only one you know" Joey says
"Yeah true" I say
We pack up the van and then get in. Chad starts it up and he drives off. After an hour we arrive. The girls make me watch Emmett because they say I should rest my arm.
"I am fine to do things" I say
"Too bad" they say
They set everything then we do sound check. I pass Emmett to Fallon and go over to the guys. We get through sound check and go back stage. I get back there and see Nell. I go over to her and kiss her cheek.
"I should the change the bandage" she says
"It's fine" I say
"It should be changed and the wound should be cleaned again" she says
"If you guys are going to do that you have fifteen minutes before we start the concert" Chad says
Nell takes my hand and drags me to a room. I tale my shirt off and she takes off the wrap and the bandage. She grabs a first aid kit and gets to work. It takes her ten minutes and then she finishes. I put my shirt back on and we return to the others. We pray then us guys head to the stage. The concert goes smoothly and we reach the end.
"Hey Nell baby can you come out to the stage for this song? Actually why don't the other two and Emmett join as well" I say
The girls come out and chad, Caleb, and I give up our stools. Joey grabs his guitar and we sing just the way you are. It ends and I talk again.
"Nell, I started my new job and I felt like the odd man out. A lot happened to me yet you were always there even if you didn't know me that great. We now spend every waking moment together and it's the best. I want to be able to do it the rest of my life and be there for you like you are for me. So Nell Jones will you take this ring and be one step closer to being Nell Granger" I ask
"Of course" she says
I put the ring on her finger and stand up. I kiss her and the crowd erupts in applause. We pull away and Joey ends the concert with prayer. We clean up and then head back to the studio. Things get put away then Nell and I head out. She starts the car and goes through chick fil a drive thru then to my place. We go inside and eat our food then head to bed. I play with her hair till she falls asleep then I drift off to sleep myself.
