*Griff POV*
—dream—
"Spencer" my mom says
"Yeah" I ask
"Your father and I have to go on a business trip. You're going to stay with your aunt and uncle" she says
"Why do you always leave" I ask
"What do you mean" she asks
"You are all always leaving me. Can't I come with" I ask
"No honey. It will be to dangerous" she says
"Mom I want to go" I whine
"Your mother said no boy. Now do not argue with her. Pack your bags and get in the car" my father yells
I nod and run up to my room. I pack my bags and get in the car. My parents come out and my dad opens up my door. He undoes the buckle and grabs me out of the car.
"Do you want to give us attitude one more time boy" my dad yells
"No" I say
"No what" he says gripping hard on my shoulders
"N-no Sir" I say
"That's what I thought son. Now get in the vehicle and buckle up" he says
"Yes Dad" I say

I shoot up in bed and look at the clock next to me and see that it's only 2:30 in the morning. I look next to me and see Nell still asleep. I get out of bed quietly and carefully. I grab the clothes I set out last night and walk out of the room. I go to the bathroom and get dressed. I then go to the kitchen and eat something before I grab my keys and leave. I get in my car and start it and just drive around. Around 4:30 I find myself outside HQ. I park my car and just sit there. I grab my phone and turn on one of my random song playlists and turn the volume down so it's just background music. About 7:30 there is a knock on my car window. I look to the side and see my half brother. I unlock the car door and he gets in the passenger seat.
"Why are you here so early" he asks
"I could ask you the same thing" I say
"I try to get here to open the door for everyone so they all don't have to juggle their personal belongings to unlock the door" he says
"I couldn't sleep" I say
"So you choose to come here" he asks
"Maybe" I say
"When did you get here" he asks
I look at the steering wheel not wanting to answer the question.
"Griffin when did you get here" he asks
"Four thirty" I say
"What time did you wake up at" He asks
"Two thirty" I respond
"Flashback" he asks
"Yeah" I say
"How old were you" he questions
"I don't know. I was young. It was with my fake parents. The part of my life I don't remember real well" I say
"What was it about" he asks
"Patrick yelling at me for talking back and not packing bags to go sleep at my aunt and Uncles house because they had to go on a business trip. They always went on them and I always wanted to go with. I was never allowed" I say
"I'm sorry man. Let's just go inside and start working on paperwork and get our minds off everything" he says
"How did you sleep" I ask
"I think I got two hours. I kept thinking about Mom" he says
"Yeah. I guess that's part of why I had the dream about my fake parents" I say
We both wipe our few tears then get out of the car. We walk to the door and he unlocks it. We walk in and sit down at our desks. We start working on paperwork.
"Mr. Granger, mr. Callen what are you doing here" we hear a few minutes later
We turn around and see Hetty standing behind us.
"We're working Hetty" I say
"No you're not. I said not to come today" she says
"What did you want us to do? Sit at home drowning in our sadness? We need to keep busy" Callen says
"No I wanted you guys to stay home and take a break. You've been busy and now this happening you need a break" she says
"No we don't need a break. We need to work" I say
"We need to do our jobs" Callen says
"Either you two leave now or I will suspend you" she says
"Woah what's going on in here" sam asks
"Nothing. We were just leaving" Callen says
We grab our stuff and hand our guns and badges over to Hetty then walk out going to my car. We get in and before Callen can pull out Sam gets in the back seat along with Deeks and Kensi.
"What happened" Sam asks
"Yeah yesterday you two were all cheery and happy" Deeks says
"Our Mom died and Hetty won't let us work" I say
"I'm sorry to hear that your mom passed away, but I believe Hetty is doing the right thing. Something very personal happened and it will just fog your mind. You two just need some time off. Maybe go do something as brothers" Kensi says
"She's not wrong guys. When Michelle died I had to take time off I couldn't think properly. I could barely care for my kids. Maybe it is best for you two to take time off. I can lend you two my boat" Sam says
"I disagree with them. Whenever something happened to me, especially when I was younger I always worked. I turned all my attention to work. My sister and I would argue, if work on cleaning the shelter. I'd think about my parents, I'd find a store that would let me clean up for free. Kensi and I get in arguments and I start doing work." Deeks says
"Yeah I don't know" Callen says running his hand through his hair.
"Maybe we should take a break. I mean we handed in our badges and guns so Hetty won't hand them over to us until she thinks we're ready to come back" I say
"What would we do" Callen asks
"I know my band has been wanting to go and do a couple more shows and not local ones so you could join us and help us set up our equipment" I say
"Ok. I guess I'll join you guys on the road" Callen says
Callen pulls up to HQ and the three get out.
"Do you want us to let Nell know that you're leaving for a bit" Sam asks
"Um no. Can you send her out here so I can tell her in person? Callen you can go ahead and tell Bailey I'll walk home" I say
"How about you take my car. Here's my keys" Callen says tossing me his keys
He leaves and the others go inside. A couple minutes later Nell comes out. She comes over to me and I wrap her in a hug.
"You okay" she asks
"I will be" I say
"I heard about your mother. I'm sorry. You barely got to know her and learn about your father as well" she says
"If I wanted to know about my father I could ask Hetty or just find his file. I don't want to know about him. I was hesitant to meet my mother at first. They blamed everything about me in each other. I ruined them. My father could probably be happier and it might've prevented him from dying. I could've been the cause of his death. I'm probably the cause of my mother's death" I say
"Griffin don't say that. You did not cause either of them to die. Just take this break and keep your mind off things. After a couple days or a week come back and everything should be back to normal. You guys can have the funeral and then Deeks, Kensi, Callen, and Bailey can get married." Nell says
"Yeah. I guess you're right. I love you and I'll call or text you sometime" I say
"If you don't it okay. I know you need time" she says
I kiss her forehead and watch as she goes back inside. I then go to Callen's car and go to my apartment. I grab my suitcase and pack it for a week and then get my other stuff ready for the performances. Once I'm done I pull my phone out and text the guys.
G- you boys ready for the week
Ch-yep. However, Fallon isn't able to go. It's going to be boring.
Ca-Hey Kelsey has to stay home with the kids
Ch-did you just say kids
Ca-she's pregnant
Ch-Emmett is only almost one
Ca-Yeah So
J-I don't know if I'm ready
G-what's wrong joe
J-Jewel won't be released for a day or two and after that she has to go to rehab for a little bit of time.
G-Hey coming will help you clear your mind. That's the only reason we're doing this. So I can clear my head. That's why Callen is coming with
J-yeah I know
I put my phone back in my pocket and take my bags outside and put them in Callen's car. I then get in and drive to his house. I arrive and he is waiting by my car. I take my bags and put them in the back of my car and give him his keys back. We get in my car and he drives to the studio. We arrive and it looks like all the guys are there. We get out and go inside.
"Hey Callen" Chad says
"Hey" Callen says
"Joey" Caleb yells
"What Caleb" Joey yells back
"How many guitars are you bringing" he asks
"Two. I always bring that many" Joey says
"Ok" Caleb says
"Can we leave yet" Chad whines
"I guess" Caleb says
We go out to the van and get in. Chad and Caleb get in front. Callen sits in the row behind them and then Joey and I sit in the row behind Callen.
"So what's going to happen between you and Jewel" I ask
"We're goin to take a break for a bit. She needs to focus on her mental and emotional health and I need to figure out what I really want" Joey says
"Understandable" I say
"So Caleb are you excited to be a father again" Chad asks
"I am." Caleb says
"I know you have a son. Do you want another son or do you want a daughter"  Callen asks
"I'm not sure. I'd be okay with either one but I think I want another son" Caleb says
"Ok" Callen says
"You could have kids soon Callen" Chad says
"I don't know. I don't think I'd make a good father" Callen says
"I don't know. I saw the way that you were with Emmett and you'll make a great father. You've seen how parents are bad and then again how parents can be good and I know you'll make sure you aren't like the bad parent" I say
"Thanks for that little brother" Callen says
"Yeah" I say
"Awe how sweet you guys care for each other" Chad mocks
"So why is Callen coming with us" Caleb asks
"What do you not like me around or something" Callen asks
"No that's not it" Chad says
"They feel like they can't act normal if you're around" I say
"No seriously why is Callen here and how did you get time off Griff" Joey asks
"We were forced to have time off. Both of us" I say
"Our boss told us that we need to take a break and then come back when we can think clearly" Callen says
"Well welcome to tour life Callen. It's not a long tour but it's still tour life" Joey says
"Great" He says dramatically
"So now tell us the real reason why you two got time off" Chad says
"We did" Callen says
"No you didn't. You only gave us part of the reason" Chad says
"What do you mean" I ask
"Man for two agents who were trained to read people you two are terrible at hiding your emotions and I can easily read it. Now what is wrong" Chad says
"Nothing is the matter" I say
They drop the matter and we continue on the road. After about 4 hours we get to Kentucky. Our first stop on the mini tour.
"Alright. Roommates are Callen and Griffin. Me and Caleb. Chad you are by yourself" Joey says
We go into the hotel and sign in. We go to our rooms and Callen and I work on unpacking somewhat. A few minutes later there's a knock on the door. I go over and open it.
"Why are you both here? Griff I understand why you are here because you are part of the band but Callen why you" Chad asks
"Hello to you too Chad. Why don't you come in" I say
He comes in and I close the door. We all take a seat on the beds.
"You want to know the real reason we're here and why we aren't working" I ask
"Yeah" Chad says
"Our mother died last night. We wanted to work but Hetty told us no. we gave her our badges and guns and now we can't go back to work until Hetty thinks we're ready" Callen says
"Wow. I'm sorry guys. You both have gone through a lot" Chad says
"Thanks Chad. Now get some rest. We have a concert tomorrow morning and another one at night" I say
He leaves the room and I turn the lights off. We both get in our beds and I drift off to sleep.
