Chapter Two: Percy
I literally just got sucked into a teal tornado or the iPad. I don't know. I'm in a ring of flowering trees. I don't see anyone else. No, wait I see someone on the ground. It's Sam! I see a freshwater spring just out side the ring of trees. If I find a bucket maybe I can dump some on him to wake him up. As I stare at the spring some of the water floats above the ground in the shape of a bucket. It floats towards me I jump back in surprise. Then, I grab the handle of the bucket, and I learn an amazing fact. I can hold water!
I walk over to Sam and drop the bucket over his head. After I release the bucket it turns back into ordinary water, and splashes him in the face.
His eyes fly open, and he asks "Where are we?!"
I tell him, "I just got sucked into a teal tornado! Or maybe it was the iPad. I don't know. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you I can hold water! I'm not sure where we are though."
He says, "No, it was a navy blue tornado!"
I say, "Dude, maybe we got sucked into different tornado iPad thingies."
Sam says, "Where's everyone else?"
"I don't know. Are you thirsty?" I ask him.
"Yeah. Why?" he mutters
"Watch this. I say. I walk over to the spring and pick up a handful of water. Then I ask him, "Do you want a water bottle or a glass of water?"
"A water bottle, I guess," Sam says uncertainly.
I toss the water in the air and it floats. Then, I shape it into a bottle with my mind. He stares at it, obviously amazed.
"Can I try turning water into a water bottle?" he asks me hopefully.
"Sure", I reply doubtfully.
Sam closes his eyes, his brow furrowed in concentration. A lightning bolt shoots out of the sky, and turns into a water bottle. I stare at Sam in shock.
"Did I do it Percy?" he asks.
"Sort of, I guess. Open your eyes Sam."
He opens his eyes and sees the water bottle. His jaw drops as he looks at the sparking, glowing, popping lightning water bottle. As if he's in a trance, he slowly reaches for the water bottle.
I stare intently, waiting to see what will happen. Then, I realize the lighting could kill him! I leap forwards, and tackle him before he can touch it.
"Why did you do that?!" Sam yells angrily. "If you can hold water, why can't I hold lightning!?
"I'm not sure it works that way. The lightning could've killed you! You should be thankful."
He just turns around, and walks toward the lightning water bottle.
"Stop!" I shout, and run after him.
"If you try touch me, I'll make you get struck by lightning," he warns me just before I grab him.
I freeze, and shake my head sadly. "Don't say I didn't warn you."
Then the same thing happens, but this time I won't stop him. I close my eyes, waiting for his scream. I don't hear it.
I open my eyes and see Sam smirking at me. He's holding the water bottle. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.
"You're alive!" I exclaim.
He rolls his eyes, and says, "Of course I am. Do you think I'm a ghost?"
"But you are holding lightning. I'm pretty sure you should be dead or injured, at least according to science," I tell him certainly.
"Well maybe the laws of science don't apply to this iPad world. Have you thought of that he shoots back.
"Uh, no,"I say dumbly.
"Okay," Sam says, "Now let's think about our questions and possible answers. Then we'll find out which one is most likely to be true. We will take turns. The first question is how did we get here, and how do we get out. You're first."
"Um, maybe it's like the Wizard of Oz. We might just need to repeat: "There's no place like home", just like Dorothy did."
"I was thinking maybe we got sucked into a wormhole, and we need to jump into another wormhole to get back."
"It could also be like Jumanji 2, the movie. We might just need to complete a quest, and say The Mythmaker."
"It's your turn to think of a question."
"Why do we have these cool powers?"
"I don't think that's important, but it might be because of the atmosphere."
"I think it's because of the gods we were assigned to because we both have our god's powers."
"Next question. Who is Mrs. Caligo?"
"An evil sorceress lady."
"I might actually have to agree with you on that one, because I don't have any better ideas."
"I'm hungry. Lets look for food."
As we walk through the woods I see a fruit grove with mangoes, apples, cherries, bananas, dragon fruit, kiwis, strawberries, raspberries, and some fruits I don't recognize. My mouth waters. "Look! Food!" I exclaim excitedly to Sam. We run towards the trees and bushes.
We stop, frozen in place when a loud, earthshaking roar comes from behind us.
