Chapter 6

October 5th, 2017

"Thanks so much for dropping me off." I unbuckle my seatbelt and smile back at Megan. "Didn't wanna bother Erik."

She nodded, rubbing my head and unlocking the door. "Have fun. Say hello to that professor for me."

"Stop! I can't tell you anything." I chuckle and hop out of the car.

She chuckled and smiled slightly. "But really, enjoy your day. Okay?"

"Of course." I turn around slowly and tried to match her smile. "I always do."

We say our final goodbye before she drives off to her own school. Two days of classes missed to take care of me. She's my mother, a true family member who's taken care of me. She h-helped me through my father departure...

I love her.

And she's helped me to try and forget what my father did to me. What my mother said to me. However, if no therapist or friend can help me forget...No one can.

I'll be stuck in an endless wormhole of trying to forget. I'll never be able to get out...

Anyways...Today's another day of classes! Day in and out I explore the topics with Mr. DeChangey. Discussing the vast possibilities and true meaning behind Beethoven's first batch of songs and sympothnys. Half the time, I'm just staring at him.

I walked into the halls, five minutes to spare. A breakfast bar couldn't hurt? Bacon maybe? Sausage? Anything would be good in the instance of extreme hunger.

"Okay, bacon." I pull out my wallet and grab a five dollar bill.

Before I could even select the wrap I wanted, I felt a hand on mine. My heart began to beat fast as electricity coursed through my veins at the single touch of what I thought was a stranger.

I turned around slowly and my eyes widen.

"Professor DeChangey? What are you doing?" I pull my hand away slowly.

He shrugs, pulling out his wallet. "Buying you a breakfast wrap."

"Why?"

A smirk appeared on his face. "You've been excelling in my class so far."

"Thank you..." I bite my lip and watch as he purchased me the breakfast wrap.

He put the money in the machine and closed his wallet. "Besides, these things are delicious."

"I know right!" I smile and lean against the machine slightly. "I could eat so many."

He stared back at me, waiting for the wrap. "Well, I hope one satisfies your craving for now."

I nod and wait with him.He spent his own money on me? Sure, five dollars! But still, he spent money on me. He looked cute today. His hair gelled, wearing a suit, and a stachel for marking his papers.

An attractive man to me.

The wrap came out and he handed it over to me. "Hot and ready. You can eat it during the Beethoven youth lecture today."

"I forgot about that lecture! I'm so excited." I grin and store the wrap in my purse.

He began to walk away, smirking once more. "Come then. You can sit by me today."

"Are you sure?" I ask and place my hands in my blue denim pants. "I can be annoying at times. Tapping my foot, pencil, fingers sometime."

He only shook his head and walked into the class. "Trust me, nothing about you ever bothers me."

I'm going to die today if those complements continue.

We made our way to the back and Mr. DeChangey took a seat beside me as the lecturer stood at the podium and began to talk about the vast amounts of stories from Beethoven's youth.

"You can eat now if you want." Mr. DeChangey whispered as he listened to the man.

I nod and pull out the wrap. "Thanks again, I am starving."

"Don't eat breakfast? Most important meal of the day." He chuckles and nudges me slightly.

I shrug and take a bite. "I have no one to cook for me. My best friend is in Philadelphia studying and my roommate doesn't know squat."

"Oh man, I could cook for you. I make the best Belgian waffles and bacon strips. Old family recipe." He smiles, turning towards me.

I look up at him slightly and hold the wrap close to my face. "I bet they would be g-great..."

Was that him asking me out? A notion to some sort of date? No. It couldn't be. He's a professional man and would never risk his career to date me or any other students.

"You know." He began to talk again, tapping his fingers on the desk. Beethoven's life reminds me of myself."

I roll my eyes and chuckle slightly before looking at him. "Which part? The rich family or music prodigy?"

"Both. Was a gifted child, had all the girls at the playground."

I almost burst out laughing. "I'm sure thirty years ago, Raoul DeChangey got all the girls."

"Thirty seven, but you basically got the jist of it." He smirked once more, biting his lip slightly.

A flirt, an absolute flirt in my opinion. The constant smirking, biting of the lips, telling me his age! And thirty seven, he looks younger than he is. Twenty years older than me. Not a good fit in case of a relationship. It'll be like a whole generation gap.

And why would he flirt with me? Christine Daae. He has a chance with any woman in the world and he chooses me to flirt with? It's cute though. Really cute.

I'll play along. Yes, harmless flirting is fun. It could take my mind off every disturbance in my life.

"Nice outfit by the way." I look him up and down, smirking just as him.

His grin widened and he patted down his suit. "Thank you, Marshall's was having a buy one suit, get the other free deal. Had to get it."

"Hmmm." My cheeks blush as I begin to chuckle. "A rich boy, but a penny pincher too. Better choose one personality DeChangey."

"Wow, someone's got some sass on her, doesn't she?" He eyes light up, making his face glow with a smile.

Harmless flirting. That's what this has to be. He's not acting upon any of this. He's not expecting any outcome of this conversation. I'm his student. I'll hve fun with him. Besides, he started it.

"What would you say was Beethoven's most attractive feature? Anything come to mind?" A grotesque smile grows even more upon my face.

"Oh lord. You think he's attractive? You must have very low standards, Christine Daae." His hand nudged mine and his eyes glistened with laughter.

"Hey! That's so mean!" My mouth widens and I smack his hand away.

He shrugs and pays his attention back at the speaker who has been eyeing us this whole lecture. 45 minutes of just staring at us a we playfully flirt.

"And that concludes the part 1 of 15 of Beethoven's life. See you tomorrow for more on the topic." The mans eyes stared at us, scowling the talking done through the class.

Everyone clapped including me, even though I hardly got a single word from him. Besides, I know everything there has to know about Beethoven personally. I could teach this unit to the class.

Mr. DeChangey patted my back as he stood up from the desk and went over to the front of the class. "Say goodbye to Mr. Orbiture. You'll see him again tomorrow for the second part of the fifteen lectures given on the early life of Beethoven's."

"Goodbye Mr. Orbiture." Everyone, including me said in unison.

The old man left, but not without one more dirty look towards me. Jesus, can't a girl have fun once and a while?

Apparently not.

We were given the last five minutes to revise notes and copy down from others. I sat and rencountered the conversations we had. The smirks that rose upon his face. How my cheeks blushed with every single tease. He's a nice guy, gonna make someone happy one day.

"Okay class." He stood up at the front."tomorrow be ready for the second lector. Bring notebooks and pencils. See you tomorrow."

I nod and begin to pack my backpack and purse up with the supplies I hardly used today. Nothing sharpened or written down. Just harmless flirts spoken between two people.

I grabbed the breakfast wrap which was absolutely delicious and threw it in the garbage. The creamy eggs melted in my mouth and the bacon added crunch and flavour to the wrap. Best gift I've ever received.

I made my way towards the door when Mr. DeChangey pulled up beside me, bag in hand. "Great class today? Don't you think?"

"Yeah, I learned a lot of great things." I chuckle and begin to walk into the halls.

"About Beethoven or me?" His smirk gleamed on his face as he began to walk with me in the halls.

I shrug and look up into his eyes once more. "Both were very interesting."

"I'm glad you think so...I had fun today, a lot of fun." His teeth bit his bottom lip again as he smile at me.

A sincere, honest grin appeared on my face. "I did too, thank you for that." I look down at my phone for the time.

"You have to go?" He asked as he saw the time. "If you have a spare I could treat you to a coffee for putting up for me."

I nod and sigh slightly. "Yeah. Music Theatre class. Putting on a production soon. Gotta go. Rain check on that coffee study session?"

"Yeah...I'll see you tomorrow." His smile dropped slightly when the word study came into play.

"Bye..."

He soon left back into his empty classroom, the door closing behind him. What was that? A confusing day. A confusing last two months to be precise.

The truth and realization of what my parents did for a living, becoming a mature adult, feelings for my teacher. It all came so suddenly...Eveything.All of these signs could be me, frazzled, paronid due to the recent events. All of these boiled in my mind.

He might not even like me.

"Okay." I mumble and walk into my second class. "Time to learn."
