Chapter Eight: Square One, Square Up
June 18th, 1981
Emberly
We were all back to square one but we weren't ready to give up yet. Gerald bravely said he was gonna go meet Candice and try to settle the score. I of course advised against the idiocy. Megan wanted to go to a book shop and I agreed to go and hopes Gerald wouldn't do something stupid.
Megan and I arrived at the shop it had sort of a mysterious vibe. We browsed around the shop for a while until a lady walked up to us with a smile. "Hello can I help you find something?"
"We aren't exactly sure what we are looking for, do you have any suggestions?" Megan said and the lady nodded with a smile.
"Yes, yes I know what you are looking for, come with me." She took us to the back of the shop and pulled a book from the shelf then handed it to us. "This is what you need, it's on the house." She walked away.
Megan and I left with the book and headed back to our apartment to meet up with the others. I was worried when Gerald said he'd be there a little later.
Gerald
I know Emberly didn't want me to and she was probably right, but I just really wanted to beat the shit outta this bitch. I arrived at the nice mansion Candice invited me to. The place was seriously huge.
I was curious how she was able to get such a nice place, but who knows. I knocked on the door and she opened it. "Hey dipshit come on in." She had a wine glass in her hand. It was a deep red wine sort of the color of blood.
"Yeah if I'm a dipshit you're a bitch." I muttered and she smiled as she sat on the back of her black leather couch in her huge ass living room.
"You say that like it's a bad thing. Now tell me why you are here. I certainly hope it's not to try and be a father you failed at that a long time ago." She said annoyed and downed the rest of her glass.
"To settle a score, I'm tired of your bullshit." I responded straight forward and she chuckled.
"Not today old friend, I don't kill on a full moon. Now I would like to have a chat, do you want to hear a story? Millie's gone so you know I need someone to talk to." She replied quietly and I swore she was drunk.
"You need to learn how to deal with your problems but sure. By the way Millie being gone is your fault." I said and sat down in a recliner.
"You think I don't know that douchebag, she wasn't supposed to die!" She shouted at me and picked up her wine bottle off a table next to her fireplace.
"What?" I said quietly rather confused.
"Look it doesn't matter okay? I'm not gonna explain it to you. Now listen did you know I'm possessed by the devil?" She said and I stared at her.
"Millie might have mentioned that..." I trailed off.
"Good cause then I hope you have a clear understanding that if you want this all to stop you got to get her outta me!" Candice sorta yelled and put her hands against her head.
"How do I do that?" I asked now genuinely concerned that Candice never really was a monster and she legitimately needed help.
"How the hell should I know I'm just a pawn, just fucking shoot me if you have to!" She threw the bottle across the room and slid down on the floor. I have never seen her so human before.
It must have been the full moon or had something to do with it. I walked over and placed my hand on her knee, "I'm gonna help you, I'll be back." I left and she watched me go. I knew I had to get back and tell the others, hopefully Megan and Emberly had found something at the book store.
