04:21 PM. THE DRAGON NEST

cannonballs after cannonballs were shot towards the nest; breaking off smaller pieces of the ice from the spikes. valka staggers outside of the nest, making it to a spike and standing on it. she looks around, seeing the whole army of dragon trappers. valka nostrils flare as she sees drago's fleet of dragon trappers, already docked on the icy land, the army already making their way towards the nest.

y/n runs, making it to valka's side and seeing everything. the viking's. the canon's firing. the large amount of boats and dragon capturing weapons. hiccup, stoick, charles and gobber make it behind the women, scanning their eyes over this now new environment. 

"oh no," hiccup says. 

valka swiftly turns, ready to wreak havoc on every person on those icy shores.

"val," stoick says, turning to look at her. "val," he grabs her arm, stopping her. "it's alright, it's alright. we're a team now," he says, y/n and hiccup standing at valka's side.

"what would you like for us to do?" y/n asks valka, putting attention on her. valka looks at y/n with a smile. 

"we have to save the dragons," she says, putting a hand hiccup's cheek. she nods at y/n, y/n nodding back. 

"aye, you got it!" stoick says, valka running off as y/n runs after her. "come on, son," hiccup nods at his father, charles and gobber going in after them. but charles, a seconds later, gets told to stay in the nest. by both y/n and valka.

🐉

dragons from the nest angrily roar as they swoop down on the army, ready to protect their home. a dragon dives down, barely dodging a net before crashing into the snow and taking out some of the men. armoured dragons pull the catapults closer to the nest, the men all shouting and yelling as they rush forward. 

"fire! fire!" some remain back, firing ballista's and catapults at the icy structure. a net wraps around a dragon, making it collapse with a whimper.

drago walks past it, like he owns the island he's standing on. 

"whatever comes, keep hitting the mountain," drago says. "we need to draw the alpha out,"

more dragons come from the nest, blocking the men rushing them and fighting back. armoured dragons fly in, roaring as they attack the dragons from the nest.

"ready the traps!" a man starts to open the trap. it reveals a dragon inside, whimpering and looking around. a dragon roars from above, flying down to help it's fellow dragon but it gets trapped, it's wing sticking out.

a nadder lands inside a gronckle's trap, the trap snapping shut and capturing it.

🐉

green gas spews from one of the traps, the man that opened it gasping in confusion. a spark occurs, lighting the gas on fire and making it explode. the man yells out, running away. 

"surprise!" tuffnut yells with a laugh, the gang all emerging from the traps. "yeah!"

🐉

"what?!" drago shouts as he sees them. 

🐉

eret cries out, struggling to stay on stormfly as she flies up towards the nest. she flies closer to fishlegs, astrid and meatlug. fishlegs whoops, cheering eret on. 

"you really are full of surprises!" astrid laughs, leaping from meatlug onto stormfly. something else y/n taught how to do. jumping between dragons. they practiced with midnight, stormfly and toothless. "let's go!"

🐉

"dragon riders, coming through!" tuffnut grins as they dive down. "fire!" fishlegs shouts as midnight steadies herself. she fires a blast, destroying one of the net traps. he swerves around with a triumphant laugh, nodding.

🐉

snotlout and hookfang dive down. hookfang spewing fire and melting another of the traps as snotlout laughs.

🐉

tuffnut and ruffnut have barf and belch cover the traps in gas, knowing the fire wouldn't hurt the dragons. stormfly swoops past them in the opposite direction, lighting the gas on fire and breaking the traps. dragons break free from their chains, quickly flying out of the traps.

"cut them down!" drago shouts to his human army, them listening to his order and firing traps. 

🐉

tuffnut and ruffnut yelp as they try to avoid traps, ruffnut slipping from barf's neck.

"eret, son of eret!" she cries out, wanting him to save her. and also, not wanting to die. she's too pretty to die right now. she is suddenly grabbed, making her eyes widen as she gasps. snotlout has caught her left hand and fishlegs has caught her right one.

she looks at them both, time slowing. why do they suddenly both look so attractive right now? she relishes in their touch, a lovesick smile on their face. 

🐉

"up, girl!" stormfly roars as she serves to avoid traps, making astrid look back to tell her where to go. "lean left, eret! that's it!" ice from the nest starts to break off, due to explosions being fired towards and that's exactly where stormfly is flying under to avoid the traps. eret yells, trying to cover himself and astrid. "look out!"

but a fire blast hits the ice before it gets to them, four dragons coming into view. both astrid and eret look up, seeing them. astrid smiles, seeing her best friend.

midnight and toothless fly in sync, curving in the air. toothless flies down, his famous sound echoing through the island as he blasts a trap. midnight screeches, setting fire to some of the remaining green gas, letting it explode.

"take them down!" a man from drago's army shouts, readying his bow and aiming at y/n.

"heads up!" gobber shouts, grump lowering his massive tail and striking the line of men in the head, knocking them out as gobber laughs.

drago growls angrily as he looks around at the chaos the dragon rider's are causing, pausing and swiftly looking back as midnight swoops near and flies next to toothless.

"dragon master..." he mumbles, looking at the night fury. he then looks at the valyrian dragon. "the mother of dragons..."

midnight and toothless fly close to stormfly, y/n noticing eret on top of her. 

"ah, eret, son of...apologies," y/n says, taking down her hood. "i have forgotten your father's first name," she says, astrid letting out a laugh. eret laughs. he knows he deserves a lot more than that. 

"welcome aboard, dragon rider!" hiccup greets with a wide smile, lifting up his mask.

"thanks," eret looks over to hiccup because looking back at the saddle. "i think,"

"where have you two been?" astrid asks y/n and hiccup. y/n and hiccup look at each other, smirking.

"oh you know," hiccup starts. "catching up with mom," he looks up, making astrid look up and the blonde lets out a gasp. valka, in her riding clothing, is standing on top of cloudjumper with her staff raised as the alpha of the nest, rises to be seen by all. the alpha bellows, all eyes on him.

"that's your mother?"

"now, you know where i get my dramatic flair!" hiccup jokes, smirking at y/n before lowering his mask and y/n putting her hood back up, the two turning and diving down together. the alpha breaks open the nest, more dragons coming from it as valka and cloudjumper move forward.

"the alpha!" drago snarls, looking at it. finally. "now, we have a fight!"

the alpha roars as he breathes frost out, making men shout at the sudden drop in temperature as the ice destroys the traps. 

valka swings her staff around, instructing dragons on what to do and where to do it. they obey, obviously, several zipplebacks enveloping themselves in gas as they start rolling along the snow, lightning themselves on fire and blasting through the army. a trap snaps shut on one of them, making it roar in pain.

"hiccup!" y/n shouts, noticing it happen below her. "ruaragon nyke!" he nods at her, midnight diving down to help. 

hiccup's eyes narrow as he sees a group of men aiming a ballista towards her and midnight. toothless growls at hiccup lets out a grunt of annoyance. 

"come on, toothless. show them what you got, bud," he says to toothless, making him roar as he dives towards the group of men. he blasts the ballista to bits, the group of men scattering as midnight frees the dragon from the trap. y/n swings to the side of midnight, hitting someone with the hilt of moonlight and swinging back on to midnight's back with ease. hiccup watches her with awe. thank thor he's wearing his mask right now. midnight flies close to toothless, hiccup looking at y/n with his eyes dilated. y/n looks at hiccup, fixing her hood so he can see her face properly. she tilts her head, waiting for him to say something because she knows he wants to. "iksā sīr...avy jorrāelan. nyke've vestās bona gō paktot?"

y/n looks at hiccup with a smirk. 

"kostilus, istin jēda gō?" she teases, hiccup shaking his head and laughing. midnight chirps at hiccup, waiting for her compliment as toothless rolls his eyes. 

"olvie gevie zaldrīzes eman mirre ūndegīon," hiccup says, midnight letting out a squeal as toothless groans.

an armoured dragon tries to attack a dragon from the nest, turning it upside down so it'll faint but cloudjumper comes in the right moment, grabbing the armoured dragon with his claws and tossing it away carelessly. 

valka swiftly turns just as a netting was wrapped around her, making cloudjumper fall from the sky and crash into the soft snow. valka lands a few feet from him, sliding and landing on her feet with a grunt.

she looks over at drago as he approaches with a snicker, glaring at her.

"i've waited a long time for this," drago smirks, easily deflecting valka's strikes as she attacks him with her staff.

"you cannot take our dragons!" valka shouts, the two clashing staffs. she kicks him away, making him grunt as she aims her staff at him. "they are controlled by the alpha!"

"then it's a good thing i brought a challenger," drago replies, grunting as he turns around while swinging his staff around wildly. he lets out a string of yells, his voice echoing as the massive chains on the ship start to rattle. waves start to crash on the ships as the water was disturbed, and from it, a large grey bewilderbeast with bloodshot eyes and chains hanging from his tusks appears. he bellows as he raises his head, snorting and shaking the water from him.

"another one?" hiccup questions, raises his mask as he looks at the dragon. y/n's violet eyes narrow as she looks between the two. her eyes go wide as the realisation hits her.

"they will fight one another,"

🐉

"that is a class ten! class ten!" fishlegs screams, swerving meatlug to avoid the dark coloured bewilderbeast as he climbs on shore. 

"look out!" men yell as they rush away from the massive dragon, avoiding flying traps as the other alpha continues walking on land.

🐉

"no...no..."  valka shakes her head as she looks up at the challenger.

"come on! take down the alpha!" drago shouts, making her swing her staff and strike his shoulder as he yells in pain. she jabs it against his side, making him swing his fist back and strike her down. valka lands roughly on her back, knocking the air out of her and stunning her. drago walks forward, stepping on her chest and using his staff to pry her helmet off as she struggles to get him off. he smirks as he raises his staff, yelling as he goes to strike it down when he was suddenly roughly punched away, landing a few feet back. drago swiftly shakes his head, grabbing his staff and turning around with anger before his eyes widen.

stoick offers his hand to valka, her armour broken as she takes it and rises.

"thank you," she softly says as he smiles back with a determined look.

"for you, my dear..." stoick readies his axe as he faces drago. "anything," drago shrugs off his cloak, stoick keeping his on. the two men circle around one another, the alpha and challenger in the distance powerfully roaring at one another. both of them, mirroring each other. the two dragons collide tusks, continuing to attack one another as valka frantically looks between the two.

"val, do you think you can stop them?"

"i'll do my best!" she responds, cutting the netting from cloudjumper and leaping on his back. "come on, cloudjumper!"

stoick grunts as he ducks under drago's staff, swinging his fist back around and grabbing drago's armor as the two glare at one another.

"i watched you burn!"

"it takes more than a little fire to kill me!" stoick growls back, swinging his fist back and striking drago in the face. he punches drago's gut, spinning around and elbowing him in the face as drago shouts in pain.

🐉

the alpha roars as he charges at the bewilderbeast, colliding tusks and shoving him backwards while slamming into him.

cloudjumper avoids the tail of the bewilderbeast, diving down and around his body before flying in between the two as valka swings her staff and holds her hands up to the two. 

the alpha stops while panting heavily, only resuming when the other bewilderbeast charges. maybe, y/n would have been better for this. valka narrowly dodges the two as they collide, making her grunt and look back as they continue fighting.

stoick and drago collide weapons, drago swinging his fist and knocking stoick down, his axe flying to the side along with his helmet.

gobber gasps and dives grump down, removing his mace hand.

"stoick!"

stoick catches the weapon as drago charges, making him spin around and strike him in the face with it.

🐉

drago's army watched the dragons fight in awe, drago's bewilderbeast rising up and knocking the alpha upward. the alpha collides his tusks down with the bewilderbeast, stunned for a moment. the bewilderbeast snarls as he begins to relentlessly charge, his tusks forcing the alpha's face upward. he presses his tusks against his exposed throat, making the alpha roar as he begins to slide backwards, vulnerable. drago's alpha slams him to the ground, exposing his stomach. he raises up, and strikes.

"no!" valka gasps, reaching for her fallen friend.

hiccup shakily exhales as he flips his mask up. y/n feels a large amount of pain in her lower stomach and she slumps on midnight. 

"y/n!" hiccup shouts as drago's alpha rise triumphantly. midnight chitters, trying to get y/n to sit up right. but she can't. why did she feel that sudden amount of pain? y/n groans softly, sitting up. hiccup looks at her with wide eyes. 

"iksan sȳz," she says, trying to sooth his worries even though she does not believe it herself. it felt like she lost a part of herself. but she had only known the rightful alpha for a few moments. what did this mean? "iksan sȳz," she pets midnight's head and looks at hiccup. 

🐉

"no!" astrid leans forward, her eyes wide as eret watches in disbelief.

🐉

drago's alpha pants heavily as he snorts, raising his head and letting out a thunderous roar. the dragons' pupils all begin to slit as they listen to his command, quickly flying to his side and swarming their new leader. they land and bow down to him, under his command.

🐉

"we have won!" drago smirks. he did it. "now, finish her!"

"no!" stoick says, looking up and seeing valka struggle on cloudjumper as he tries to fight for control. the bewilderbeast roars, making cloudjumper dive down to try to avoid his order. the new alpha spews ice at him, freezing his tail and causing him to struggle.

"hold on!" stoick bellows, getting his axe which is in the snow. he rushes to skullcrusher, getting on. "skullcrusher, go!" he looks back, seeing his best friend. "come on, gobber!"

"right behind you, stoick!"

🐉

a flurry of dragons attack cloudjumper, attempting to capture valka as she cries out, nearly getting smacked off of him. they fly near the alpha, making him roar as valka's fingers slip from cloudjumper. she screams as she falls, think it's her last time. 

but stoick just got her back. do you think he's going to leave her after he just got her back? no way. haddock men love, and they love hard.

stoick yells as he leaps from skullcrusher and grabs her, his back slamming into the wall of ice. he holds her safely in his arm as he uses his axe to slow their fall, landing on a ledge. they stagger forward before stoick regains himself, quickly pulling valka back and behind a small piece of ice as the alpha searches for them. trying to smell their scents.

🐉

"stop!" hiccup's voice bellows, toothless and midnight swooping down towards drago. "stop!"

toothless lands, midnight landing next to him. her silver eyes scan over drago, her head going from side to side. 

hiccup unhooks from toothless, y/n sliding down from midnight. midnight goes to help y/n by putting her wing down but y/n decides against it. she is fine. midnight hisses, staying close to y/n as toothless watches drago closely, defensive position only. anything could happen. 

hiccup removes his helmet, tossing it to the side as he looks to drago, who snickers.

"this is the great dragon master?" drago taunts, looking at hiccup. "the son of stoick the vast? what shame he must feel?"

"i do not think that is wise," y/n says, taking off her hood. her white hair glints in the cold air. her violet eyes narrow as she gazes upon drago. "i do not think it is wise to speak ill of the man who will be your downfall,"

"ah, the supposed mother of dragon," if charles was here, he would definitely back y/n's case. far away from drago with a shield for protection. "i expected...more," more? more?! how can you get anymore than the last targaryen? hiccup stand in front, protecting y/n from drago. 

"all of this loss, and for what?" hiccup demands as he narrows his eyes at drago. "to become unstoppable? to rule the world?" drago nods, looking around. as long as he's not the one falling down, who cares about anyone else? y/n's hand itches to get her sword. "they-they are kind, amazing creatures that can bring people together," hiccup continues, making drago laugh as he plants his staff in the ground.

"or tear them apart," drago roughly replies, popping off his prosthetic arm and showing it to the couple. hiccup makes a face as disgust as y/n shows no emotion. she remembers seeing worse. and it is his own fault for not becoming allies with the dragon first. "see? i know what it is to live in fear," he puts the prosthetic arm back on, walking over to the couple. "to see my village burn. but even as a boy...left with nothing," the drago hunter circles the couple, y/n ready for anything as midnight and toothless stay back. "i vowed to rise above the fear of dragon," he takes his stuff back in his clutches, looking at the discord that he has created. the bewilderbeast in charge of all dragons. "and liberate people of this world,"

"and you are using a dragon army to do that?" y/n questions, toothless and midnight arching their backs. 

"well, you need dragons to conquer other dragons," drago replies, as if it was obvious.

"or maybe, you need dragons to conquer people," hiccup says. "to control those who follow you, and to get rid of those who won't,"

drago lets out a dark chuckle, looking back at the dragons flying overhead.

"clever,"

"i..." y/n does not want to mediate. she does not think this will end well. but she will try for hiccup. as that was the plan in the first place. "i understand what it is like to lose your family," she's lost one. and she almost lost her second. "but dragons do not wish to fight one another. they want to survive. they want to life. they want to have families of their own,"

"the world wants peace," hiccup says to drago as he pushes y/n back towards their dragons as drago approaches them. "and we have the answer back on berk," toothless and midnight move closer to their owners. "listen, let me show-"

"no!" drago shouts, interrupting him. "let me show you!" he lets out a shout, swinging his staff around roughly as he faces the alpha. the alpha rumbles lowly as he turns to drago, making his way down to him.

"what in...?" stoick mumbles, his eyes widening when he sees the future of berk standing next to drago. "y/n! hiccup!" he takes off running, valka right behind him as they pass gobber. "come on, gobber!"

"okay, change of plan!" gobber pants heavily, turning around and rushing after them.

charles ducks as he covers his head from the ice, falling around him. a baby dragon sit in his arms. he did not know why a baby dragon was sitting in his arms. but he is going to protect it. he manages to get out the nest; no harm to him or the baby dragon. 

he notices the new alpha, confused. and then realises the dead one lying further away from him. seven hells. where is it going? the new alpha. he turns seeing y/n and hiccup. oh no.

🐉

y/n pulls out her sword, staying on defence as she looks at drago. it is always the men who are greedy. drago puts his staff back down, the new alpha marching over. 

"no dragon can resist the alpha's command," drago growls with a smirk. "so, he who controls the alpha..." the alpha ends up behind drago, y/n looking up at the beast. he points his staff to the alpha before pointing at midnight, who snarls at the weapon. drago then points it to toothless, making him hiss before he looks up at the alpha. "controls them all," the alpha looks at the smaller, dark coloured dragons and starts to give them commands. he does not do this buy roaring but by vibrating at the same frequency.

midnight fidgets, moving her head; trying to push away the new emotions being forced upon her. toothless whimpers, shaking his head frantically as midnight snarls at drago, her silver eyes flickering from slits to ovals.

"t-toothless, you okay, bud?" hiccup asks, trying to help. "what's going on?"

"the alpha is controlling them, hiccup," y/n says, dropping her sword and trying to keep midnight under control. "iksan kesīr, midnight. gaomagon daor sagon zūgagon. iksan kesīr," y/n whispers, talking her best friend. her sister. her other half. 

"witness true strength," drago smirks at the two dragons. "the strength of will over others," midnight stops struggling, panting heavily as she slowly rises and stares at the alpha, her eyes slitted. and not in the way y/n knows. drago smirks, jerking his staff to y/n. "in the face of it...you two are nothing," she knew she wasn't the mother of dragons. midnight obeys, ducking low as she hisses at the y/n, making her stagger back with a gasp.

"y/n!" hiccup shouts, trying to get to her but toothless stops him. his pupils are slitted and his face is still. "uh...what did he just tell you to do?"

"midnight," y/n says, her hands bare as she looks at her best friend. "kesan daor ōdrikagon ao. kesan dōrī," she notices toothless crawling closer and closer to hiccup and her eyes go wide. "hiccup," she mumbles, trying to get to him but midnight growls, keeping her stuck.

stoick pants heavily as he runs to hiccup and y/n, his adrenaline pounding in his ears. he is not loosing any of them.

🐉

the baby dragon flies out of charles' arms, flying up and then over to where y/n is. he sat on her head before. and she was kind. she reminded him of her mother, wherever she is. he believes in her, even if she doesn't herself. 

charles looks over to y/n, racing as he sees what's about to happen. but she should be able to control the dragons? why isn't she?

"toothless, midnight, come on!" hiccup tries to stop, raising his hand as toothless starts cornering him. "what's the matter with you two?" hiccup looks over to y/n, seeing the girl's eyes water. what can he do? what can he do to get to her? what could he do to get her out of here? "no, no, no, no, come on, what are you doing? knock it off,"

but toothless or midnight can see their friends. they see distorted shapes of people that they do not recognise. 

"midnight," y/n says, dropping her knees. "avy jorrāelan," she closes her eyes. there were worse ways to die. and as y/n's sure of, the alpha is asking for midnight to kill her. midnight's fire won't kill y/n. but a plasma blast that midnight's learnt how to do from toothless, will. 

"stop! snap out of it!" hiccup tries, raising both hands as toothless mindlessly approaches with a snarl.

the baby dragon flies closer and closer. charles panting as he chases after it. his eyes go wide as he sees how defeated y/n looks. he gasps. he is not going to make it. he speeds up, the snow crunching underneath his brown boots. 

🐉

stoick hurls his axe through the air, striking a rope and lowering the large wooden beam. he races across it, leaping off with a grunt.

🐉

"toothless, no!" hiccup cries out, toothless getting closer and closer to him. "toothless!" drago smirks, turning away. hiccup sees y/n kneeling on the ground, her eyes closed. she's going to let it happen. of course, hiccup knows y/n would never hurt midnight. she'd rather die than do that. "y/n! y/n! midnight, keligon!"

"hiccup!" stoick bellows, making the alpha snarl as he commands toothless to move quicker.

🐉

charles gets closer and closer as the baby dragon flies with a greater speed. he is not going to save her. he is not going to make it. his lungs might be burning, but he needs to get to her. 

🐉

"stop!" hiccup shouts as he looks at the alpha, toothless gathering a plasma ball in his mouth. he doesn't want to die. not now. not when he has the rest of his life to be with y/n. 

"son!" stoick screams, getting closer and closer to hiccup with each stride.

"dad!" hiccup looks at stoick with wide eyes, holding his hand up for him to stop. "no!"

midnight fires a blast as the baby dragon flies infront of y/n and charles pushes y/n to the ground. 

🐉

toothless lets loose, blasting his plasma ball as stoick collides with hiccup. 

🐉

valka staggers back, her throat becoming tight as tears form in her eyes, gasping for breath as she rushes over to them.

🐉

y/n pants, seeing charles on top of her. is this his blood on her hands? 

"hightower," she says. she shakes him, charles sitting up, heaving deeply. he's alive. "you did not..." y/n turns, seeing a baby dragon still on the ice. she cradles the dragon, turning her head away as it feels cold in her hands. a baby dragon risked its life for her. the hightower risked his life for her. and what did she do? she looks at the baby dragon, remembering it. "ao dēmāt va ñuha bartos. nyke gōntan daor gaomagon ao ȳgha se iksan vaoreznuni,"

charles puts a hand on y/n's shoulder as she looks at him. 

"you need not save me," she says. "but i thank you for it,"

"you are the queen," charles starts, y/n shaking her head. what kind of queen is she? "and i will risk my life for the rightful queen," y/n looks up at midnight, cooing at her but midnight stays stiff. 

y/n takes a breath before realising something. there were two blasts. two. she gets up, still cradling the baby dragon, seeing stoick knocked under a pile of ice. and he is not unmoving.

drago looks back, his eyes scan stoick before he hums lightly, smirking as he walks away. powerful. strong. useful.

🐉

y/n places the baby on the ice carefully, she will come back to him. it is...it was...a boy. a baby boy. and he would have been a strong dragon growing up. very strong. and kind.

she rushes to hiccup, helping him up as they both see stoick. hiccup slowly turns to toothless before running over to his father, shaking his head. charles walks over, staying close but far enough out of respect.

"no..." y/n gets there first, taking the ice off stoick as hiccup does the same. "dad!" hiccup says, trying to turn stoick over. 

"stoick..." valka gasps, helping the younger couple turn him over. 

"dad?" hiccup questions, tears threatening to spill from his eyes as valka leans down to checks for a heartbeat. and y/n checks for a pulse. but nothing is there. "no. you..." hiccup looks at his mother and his lover; both with pained expressions of their faces.

y/n covers her mouth as she cries, looking back at the alpha. a targaryen. of course. he sees the job is done and releases midnight and toothless from his clutches, shaking his head as he turns around with a low growl.

toothless pants heavily, shaking his head as his eyes become normal. midnight roars over to him, shaking her head out before her ears perk when he hears y/n cry. she has not heard y/n cry in a long time. she turns seeing the baby dragon in front of her. why is he still? she nudges him with her nose, smelling the burnt flesh. there are no other dragons close. 

did she do this? she...she did this. she killed this dragon. why? why did she do it? why would she hurt a baby? midnight whines, hiding her head underneath her paws. she would never want to hurt a baby. she wants to be a mother herself. how could she? toothless chitters at midnight, walking over to her, trying to comfort her. if only he knew what he had done.

"no, no, no," hiccup sobs, y/n hugging him and cradling his head as he tightly grips at her, his hands shaking. the others quickly land around toothless, astrid gasping when she sees stoick. the others look at each other with wide eyes, their hearts heavy. gobber approaches them, removing his helmet.

toothless looks over to their family in confusion. what's going on? why is everyone so sad? toothless nudges midnight, getting her up. but she does not get any closer? what if she hurts anyone else? midnight stays next to the body of the baby dragon, shaking her head as toothless tries to get her closer.

toothless rumbles, getting closer to stoick and gently sniffs his hand. he moves closer before he's pushed off. by hiccup. his best friend. 

"no! get away from him!" toothless whimpers, looking up at hiccup. "go on, get out of here!" y/n does not know what to do. hiccup needs to grieve but this is not toothless' fault. through her tear stained sight, she sees midnight all alone by herself. and y/n wants to go to her. she does but she is drained. she is tired. three deaths today. and none of them were drago's. "get away!" toothless whimpers softly, turning and rushing away back to midnight.

"it's not their fault. you know that," valka speaks quietly as hiccup slumps to the floor with a sob. y/n continues to hug him. the alpha roars, making the rest of the dragons fly to his side and join him. "good dragons...under the control of bad people...do bad things," fishlegs gasps and turns as meatlug starts flying off, ignoring his call. the other dragons do the same as the group reaches for them while shouting, the dragons ignoring them.

drago faces the alpha with a triumphant nod and smirk, pausing when he hears two roars. he turns seeing, toothless trying to get midnight to move. but she does not want to.

the alpha start to control then, their pupils turning into slits. drago walks to toothless' side, waiting for him to move with his wings opened. drago smirks as he walks to toothless, forcing him down as he tries to rise and climbing on his back.

"come on!" y/n turns, looking up and seeing drago. on toothless with midnight, flying next to them. "gather the men and meet back at berk!"

"midnight! toothless!" y/n shouts, stumbling to go after them. but how? how could she get to them? what could she do?

gobber quickly stops the girl with a heavy heart as she tries to get around him, shaking his head as she watches helplessly.

the alpha lets out a low roar, drago's men preparing the ships as hiccup watches with tearful eyes, shaking his head. y/n turns to him, making him cry softly as he quickly approaches her and hugs her, the group all mourning the death of stoick the vast, one of the greatest chief's that have ever lived. and all targaryen's could agree to that.
