07:40 AM. BERK, THE ISLE OF BERK

hiccup runs. it is a weird with this prosthetic leg. but he does it anyway. maybe because he's not used to it. he needs to find her. her being y/n targaryen; the last of her kind. toothless runs behind him, roaring out. 

it probably would  have been quicker if he flew on toothless but...that wasn't the first thing on his mind. it was finding y/n. 

berk has changed. his father has changed. everything has changed. he has changed. his lost a leg and then gained one. people look up to him. and they want more of him around berk. he couldn't believe it. astrid even shook his hand. and she hated touching people. or maybe she just hated touching him unless it was a way of violence?

another roar is heard from the east and hiccup knows he has to go in that direction. he ducks underneath branches, seeing y/n standing up at the edge of a cliff. her hair is free, blowing in the wind. on her body, a black dress with red accents on it. on her head, a flower crown full of red flowers and ferns. 

hiccup swallows, his mouth going dry. oh thor.

"i am aware of you being here," y/n says, turning her head back to him. hiccup's heart goes double time as he walks closer to her. "i see you are well. how do you fair?"

"i-i'm okay," hiccup nods. he wants to jump at her and hug and shower her with kisses.

"wonderful," y/n says, sitting down. hiccup joins her, midnight and toothless play fighting with each behind them. 

"are you okay?" hiccup asks, seeing no bruises or burns or anything. if anything, her hair is longer.

"i am quite alright," y/n says with a smile. "thank you," a comfortable silent passes over the two, the leaves whistling in the wind. what could they talk about? them both drowning, taking down a beast, then passing out due to exhaustion and saving the village? that's not really a great topic of conversation. "hiccup," he turns to her from looking out into the sky. "may i ask you a question?"

"anything," he has nothing to hide from her.

"where you ever going to make me aware of your dragon training?" y/n asks, nonchalantly as she makes another flower crown. 

"uh...no..." hiccup admits, rubbing the back of his neck. 

"and may i ask why?"

"i didn't want you to look at me any different,"

"how would i have seen you differently if you had never harmed a dragon before?" toothless roars in the background, biting midnight playfully. midnight screeches, tackling toothless to the ground. she is the stronger dragon. "besides toothless,"

"uh..."

y/n sighs, finishing the flower crown. she turns to hiccup, putting it on his forehead. he bows his head, letting her arrange it properly so it sits nicely. he raises it, y/n smiling at how it looks on him.

"hiccup," she starts, looking into his green eyes. "i wish to..." she can do this. "i wish to be romantically involved with you," hiccup's mouth hangs wide open. what? what?! him?! when she could do so much better?! "however, i would like for there to be trust in this relationship...if there would be one, if you would like that. i- "

"absolutely," hiccup nods, very quickly. "i really like you. like really. it's bad,"

"it is bad?" y/n furrows her eye brows. "it is a bad thing that you like me?"

"no! i didn't mean it like that," the two teenagers face each other as y/n smiles at him, unsurely. hiccup scrunches up his face, sighing out. "uh...nyke hae ao, yn gaoman daor pendagon iksan sȳz enough syt ao,"

"you are good for me," y/n states. she cups hiccup's cheek, kissing it. "quite good for me, i am certain," and up in the seven heavens, her ancestors think so too. 

"really?" hiccup gives her a crooked smile. 

"yes,"

the two smiles at each other, putting their foreheads together as they relish in the sun. midnight and toothless playfighting in the background.

hiccup sets his prosthetic foot in place, nodding as he tests the new bright red tail-fin. midnight joins his toothless, y/n winking at her boyfriend as he grins back. her long white hair has a plait in the middle, telling the world about a victory she has achieved. 

"you ready?"

toothless snorts in response, hiccup smiling and pausing to look around.

"this is berk..." all the viking's and dragons live together, bustling through their snug little village in a rhythm that is not going to be disrupted any time soon. "it snows nine months of the year and hails the other three," toothless flies off, midnight flying close to her brother. "any food that grows here is tough and tasteless," astrid laughs as she joins the two on her nadder, playfully running into midnight who screeches playfully and pushes back. a viking nearly chokes on his drink as toothless swoops by, making him chuckle and shake his head. "the people that grow here are even more so!" toothless lets out a roar as he leads midnight and stormfly, making hiccup cheer with a grin as they fly over the viking ships. "the only upside-besides y/n-are the pets," the three fly along the overhead docks, fishlegs joining with his gronckle, meatlug. "while other places have ponies or parrots..." his gronckle slams into the wall multiple times, remaining unphased as she happily follows toothless and midnight. "we have..." snotlout joins on hookfang, grinning at his other friends as they fly together, ruffnutt and tuffnut both flying in on barf and belch. "dragons," toothless and midnight fly higher and higher than, roaring up into the sky.

"dracarys!"

"no-wait!"
