Chapter 16 - Girls, Girls, Girls

"Hello cousin!" Kate said cheerfully. Her wings were untucked and folded behind her. Her eyes glowed golden swirls on top of green. Kate prayed that the plan would work, she didn't want to get caught impersonating a wind nymph. Who knows what would happen if that were to happen.

"Hello cousin." The naiad said softly, not looking up at Kate. "May I ask what you are doing in this part of the forest?" She asked coldly.

"I wish to speak with the dryad queen and I seem to have lost my way." Kate said. The naiad looked up at Kate for the first time. Her golden colored eyes were filled with determination and strength. She was, without question, the most beautiful creature Kate had ever seen.

"Oh?" She questioned. Her voice was cold and made Kate's heart freeze. The naiad took a step towards Kate. She looked deeply into Kate's green and gold swirling eyes. She pointed a webbed finger down at the creek. "Follow it upstream." There was a long silence, Kate couldn't speak. She could hardly move.

"Um... Thank you." She finally muttered. Kate's heart pounded in her chest. Her face was flushed with embarrassment. The naiad nodded and stepped into the creek. She submerged her body into the water and disappeared under the stream.

Kate released the breath of air she had been holding and her eyes returned to normal.

"Nice job Sissy." Dean exclaimed. He sarcastically slow clapped as he stepped out from his hiding place. "An Oscar worthy performance. I especially liked the part when you pretended to be all embarrassed around her."

"Shut up Dean." Kate grumbled. Kate had always been shy about her feelings toward girls and her brothers knew it too. Dean was particularly fond of making fun of her whenever she got flustered around them.

"Hey I'll admit it, she was hot." Dean chuckled. Sam stepped out from his hiding place behind a bush.

"So we just go upstream I guess." Sam stated.

"Let's just hope we find the queen before it gets too dark."

An hour later, the sun had set and dusk fell upon the forest. The once beautiful sky was now a dull grey. The wind whistled in the air causing Kate to shiver in the cold.

She untied her flannel and threw it over her freezing body. The shirt was warm on her arms, but her legs still shivered in the bitter cold. How far does this creek go? She wondered. It seemed to go on forever.

Kate looked at her brothers who hiked in front of her. Not once had they complained about the cold. They were strong.

Just then there was a sound of movement to Kate's right. She stopped, signaling to her brothers to do the same.

"Hello?" Kate called out. It was time to put her acting skills to good work. "Please, is someone there?" She cried. "We're lost and we can't find our way back. Can you help us?"

There was silence. Sam and Dean looked quizzically at the direction of the sound. A twig snapped behind them causing the siblings to whirl around.

Standing behind them was a girl. She had mocha colored skin and short light brown hair. Her clothes seemed to be made of leaves and other plants. On her head was a wreath of twigs and leaves. She wore a friendly smile.

"You guys need help?" She giggled. Her voice was high and soft, almost childlike.

"Uh, yeah." Sam answered.

"Well it's a good thing I found you." She laughed. "You guys are heading deeper into the forest. By the way, I'm Ash."

"My name is Sam Winchester, this is my brother Dean and my sister Kate."

"Well then, let's get you all out of here." She smiled and started down the creek.

"Actually," Sam interjected. "We were wondering if you could take us to see the dryad queen." Ash's smile faded.

"Why do you want to see the queen." She inquired.

"We need to talk to her, it's really important." There was a long silence between the Winchesters and the dryad.

"No."

Dean pulled Kate aside while Sam tried to convince Ash to take them to the queen. "Alright look," He said, resting a hand on Kate's shoulder. "You are gonna have to flirt our way all the way to the queen."

"What!"

"She's not gonna let us go unless she gets something in return and trust me she's not into guys."

"How can you tell?"

"She is literally staring at your ass right now." Dean implied. Kate's face was in a nervous state of shock as she looked over to Ash, sure enough she was staring at her butt. Kate swallowed hard, trying to think of some kind of counter argument. "Don't be nervous." Dean coached.

"I uh... I-I" She stuttered. "Oh boy."

______

"S-so do you come here often?" Kate asked sheepishly. Ash giggled at the question.

"I kind of live here." She laughed. Kate laughed along with her, a little too loud to go unnoticed.

The sun was long gone and stars were beginning to make they're appearance in the night sky. Ash and Kate sat on a large boulder by the edge of the creek.

Kate tried to act cute and flipped her hair only to have it get caught in a nearby bush. She got flustered as she tried to separate the branches from her hair. Ash giggled at the sight causing Kate to blush uncontrollably.

"Here," Ash laughed. "Let me help you." She moved closer to Kate making her feel awkward. Ash reached up and started to untangle Kate's hair. Kate blushed the entire time.

"I like your hair." Kate finally said.

"Thank you!" She beamed. "I like yours too." She said pulling a leaf out of Kate's hair. Kate smiled at the gesture. Her heart began to pound in her chest as Ash drew closer. Ash's eyes were a beautiful mix of oak brown and forest green. Kate stared into them, getting lost in their beauty. She felt Ash's fingers leave her hair. Ash stared back into Kate's candy apple green eyes, entranced by their beauty.

Kate's forehead began to sweat from the anxiety she was feeling. Her heart was going faster and faster. She felt Ash's arms wrap around her shoulders. Kate then in turn found her fingers finding their way around Ash's waist.

Kate felt her body tremble in anxiety. She felt her hair come loose from the bush. Just as the hair was freed Ash plunged her lips onto Kate's.

Ash's lips were warm and soft on Kate's cold and hard. Kate kissed her in return, running her fingers up Ash's back and around her waist. Her eyes fluttered closed and all she could sense was Ash. Her lips tasted of fresh berries and she smelled of a strong pine.

Kate felt Ash's hands gently stroke through her hair. Kate moved her hands down Ash's back and firmly gripped her thigh. Ash continued to press her lips into Kate's, holding her neck perfectly in place. Ash was now sitting on top of Kate, breathing in every aspect of her. Kate felt Ash's fingers pulling her flannel off her shoulders to reveal her grey tank top.

Kate tenderly pressed her lips against Ash's, she leaned into Ash's arms. She pulled Ash closer and closer until she could feel her heart beating. Kate felt Ash's fingers on her abdomen when suddenly she stopped. Kate opened her eyes, Ash had stopped kissing her. Why?

"Ash?" She inquired. Ash's eyes were filled with fear. Ash awkwardly got off of Kate and stood on the rock. Kate sat up wondering why she stopped. "Did I do something wrong?"

"No no no!" Ash soothed. "Not at all, you were great it's just that I have to go."

"Now? Go where?"

"Just trust me it's important. I'm sorry." Ash apologized. Before Kate could say anything else, Ash was darting back into the woods. Kate frowned. She pulled her flannel shirt back over her shoulders and stood. She walked for a good five minutes until she found her brother's temporary camp site.

After realizing what was about to go down, Sam and Dean had retreated far away from Kate's action. They found a cave where they started a fire and set up camp. Kate trudged up to the fire where Dean was cooking a squirrel he'd caught.

He smirked at Kate. "So," he asked.

"So what?"

"Did you score?" He asked smugly. Kate scoffed at him, honestly her brother couldn't get anymore immature.

"Seriously? You're so immature." There was a long pause before Kate let out a low groan. "No. I got super close though. However, I did get this." Kate reached into her pocket and pulled out a small piece of older paper. She unfolded the paper to reveal a tiny map of the forest.

"What is that?" Dean asked.

"It's a map of the forest, but it also holds the location of the dryad queen."
