A FEW MONTHS LATER
Sky smiled warmly at her kits. They were growing up so fast. Feisty and Fierce were a few months old, talking and... play fighting. Even though it wasn't play.
"Ow! Mooooommmm, Fierce hit me!" Whined Feisty. He ran up to his mother and showed her where he hit him.
"Feisty, stop overreacting. There's no mark," Sky sighed. "Fierce! Come here right now!"
Fierce trudged up to his mother and brother. "Mooommm! What did I do? It didn't hurt him!" He rolled his eyes. "He's a scaredy-cat." He mumbled.
"I don't care what you or he did. Now tell him you're sorry." Sky instructed.
"I'm sorry." Fierce shifted his paws.
"That's okay. Let's go explore!" Feisty exclaimed. Fierce smiled. The two siblings ran out the den and were happy as can be. Sky smiled. They really loved each other.
Niko entered the den. "Hey. I brought you some herbs."
Sky nodded. She took the herbs and ate them. They tasted sour. As always. Sky's bump on her side turned out to be a physical thing. She couldn't run anymore, because if she did, the bump would grow and grow. She would lose her breath and probably suffocate. Or the bump would overtake her. They figured that out the hard way. Sky almost died. She had to eat herbs every day to control the bump and her breath.
She longed for the day when she would be able to run again, with Scarlet up above in what she called Worthy-Cat Place. She smiled on the inside. She walked outside with Niko to find her kits.
Rabbit and Rose walked up to them.
"We have decided to call this group of cats Moonclan." Rabbit said.
Sky was confused. "Why?"
"Because our group needs a name. It shouldn't just be called "our group of cats." It should be better. It's Moonclan!" Rose answered.
Sky nodddd. "I like that name. Does everyone know about Moonclan?"
"Yes. Rabbit told everyone." Rose replied.
"And," Rabbit interjected. "We also need to talk about who is going to do what job. We have to have everyone contribute to keep Moonclan alive. Rose and I have thought of Fighters and Hunters as, well, cats who fight and hunt for us.
"Everyone will be put in a job according to their skills. We think you, Sky could be in the Mother group. Since you can't run anymore, you can stay in the Nursery and help with the kits. And Niko, since you know about health, you could be our Sick-Paw and help anyone who's sick. And Chance and Branch could be Hunters while Rose and I will be Fighters. Is that a could idea?" Rabbit finished.
Sky loved the idea. "Does everyone know all of these... ranks?"
Rabbit nodded. "Let's call a clan gathering to discuss everything." He ran up to the top of the den and yelled, "Everyone who is part of Moonclan, report to the clearing for a clan gathering!"
Cats piled out of the den and faced Rabbit. "Since you all know about the ranks, were going to discuss who is going to be our leader. And our Second-Helper, who will become leader after the leader. Any questions?"
Chance yelled out, "Rabbit, I think you should be our leader! And Rose, our Second-Helper!"
The other cats agreed. "Yeah!" They all yelled.
Rabbit and Rose was appalled. "Well if you want that..." Rabbit said.
The cats yelled. "YES!!!"
"Okay, okay! We will be your leader and Second-Helper. But I think we should have a ceremony. And our new names should be Rabbitmoon and Rosestar in honor of our name: Moonclan! We are honored to help you in anyway possible!" Rabbitmoon exclaimed. Everyone cheered in celebration. Rosestar was so happy that she purred and licked Rabbitmoon. They stood up tall and straight and at that moment, the sun shone on them like a spotlight.
The new Moonclan was coming together.
