Part 13: Training
A day later, when the cats were all back at the den, Chance tried to walk. Everyday he would get up and call Niko over. Niko would help him stand and help him around the den. The other cats would cheer him on. But Chance kept falling, and getting frustrated. He would quit and would be left alone, while everyone worried about him.
"I have no idea how this will work," Rosestar began. (She was awake and Niko checked her over. She, and the kits were okay.) "Chance doesn't want to walk. When he does, he just gets annoyed and quits! We can't go on like this. What can we do?"
The others shrugged. "I dunno," Niko answered. "Maybe... we could... ugh..." She trailed off, thinking. The other cats mumbled to each other.
"I know!"
Rabbitmoon turned around to the tiny voice. It was Fierce.
"What?" He asked. "What is it?"
Fierce cleared his throat. "We could maybe give him breathing exercises."
The others looked at him with wide eyes. "You're barely a kit! How do you know what breathing exercises are?" Branch asked.
Fierce shrugged, looking at his paws. "I... I had a dream," he mumbled. Only Rabbitmoon could hear, though.
Rabbitmoon was puzzled. A dream? How could he have dreamed that? Rabbitmoon shook his head. He had more important things to do right now then think about a kit's dream.
Rabbitmoon went hunting, and caught a rabbit, a squirrel, and two birds. He brought them to the fresh-kill pile.
Soon, it was time to sleep. Rabbitmoon settled up with Rosestar and went to sleep.
Suddenly, Rabbitmoon awoke in a starry meadow. Another dream. He was alone. A shape of a cat was appearing on the hills. It walked towards him. It was Scarlet!
"Mother!" Exclaimed Rabbitmoon, touching noses with her. She smiled at him.
"Hello, my kit. How are you?" She answered.
"Good. Why are you here?" Asked Rabbitmoon. He was scared of what she was going to tell him.
Her smiled turned serious. "I'm here to talk to you about Fierce. And his dream."
Rabbitmoon gasped. "I knew it! He just didn't have a silly dream! And I think it'll work with Chance. But who sent the dream?"
Scarlet blinked. "I did. You all needed help. And I picked Fierce because he is going to have a bright and untold future."
Rabbitmoon nodded. "Okay. That explains a lot. Now are you sure it'll work?"
Scarlet nodded back. Her outline started to fade. She smiled. With a gleam in her eye, she said, "I love you. And you might want to wake up now. Something important about to happen..." she faded and so did the dream.
